Actually, I've been wondering why people keep saying it will be the 21st. When was the last time an announcement was on a Monday? The old rumor said 15th, which was a Tuesday, just like all the other announcements. So I'll bet the invites go out on Wednesday this week, for the 22nd.

Wasn't one recently? Was a pattern previously.

Sounds like a nice machine. I'm disappointed in Apple, Vaio had these 28W Skylakes first and they weren't too uppity to let people know and order it ahead of time. Glad to see they're carrying Sony's torch for the Vaio Z. I remember seeing one of those puppies back in 2009-2010. Man oh man, so tiny yet, so many lights and buttons, so sleek and cool.
However, its poor trackpad/keyboard and battery life are letting me down.

Vaio can release them first because they are only going to sell a handful of these. Apple has to wait until they are guaranteed consistent bulk supply.

I have not tested battery life yet, but that does not surprise me.

Keyboard is great for me.
Trackpad is of course not as good as a MacBook trackpad, but in comparison to most pc trackpads, I find this one is pretty good.

I sure hope they come in March. I've got a bonus check coming and need a laptop. Options thus far:

Razer Blade Stealth
Dell XPS 13
New rMBP??

If there isn't anything out of the event in 3 weeks my options go from 3 to 2. :(

YESSS!!!!!!!!!!!!! FINALLY

Sorry guys, there's literally nothing in those articles that is different from what we already know. The original Chinese post cites Ming-Chi Kuo. He's one of the best, but its nothing we don't already know. This thread has become investment grade in terms of leaks and intelligence, everyone draws from their own sources so news circulates quickly and is rapidly digested so we know the wheat from the chaff. Very interesting dynamic. It's unfortunate that this thread doesn't come up easily on a google search though.

The 2012 retina, my favorite rMBP since dGPU was included on all models (and I owned one, but don't any longer).

John Paczkowski on Buzzfeed reported March 21 was the date. That's why.

As for the last time an announcement was on Monday, that would be last year. Monday March 9, 2015: Apple announced the rMB. Apple has had announcements on days other than Tuesday plenty of times.

Iris 550 (Vaio Z Flip):

Diablo 3 (1920x1080) - NoAA - All settings as high as they go! :
most of the time around 60-80fps. Some big fights with lots going on dipped into the 50s
At (2560x1440) frames stayed in the 40-50fps range

Iris 550 (Vaio Z Flip):

Heroes of the Storm - (1920x1080)
High Settings 30-45fps
Medium 60-80fps lowest I saw was 50 something

Battlefield 4 -
(1920x1080) - Low Settings: 35-50fps
(1280x720) - Low Settings : 70-90fps, always above 60
(1280x720) - Medium Settings: 50-70fps

Civilization: Beyond Earth (1920x1080)
High Settings 30-35fps
Medium settings 35-50fps

What were the temperatures during your play?

I have been watching this thread for a couple of months now. I seriously hope that Apple do release new 13 and 15 inch rMBPs this month. I am working on a late 2011 MBP, which is getting long in the tooth. I need to replace it before the end of June, so WWDC is too late for me! It seems that most here believe it will be March, so I am still hoping.

As for features, etc. I don't see the purpose in touch screen, myself. If it is included, so be it. Same with Siri or Touch ID - it really doesn't take that long to type in a password when there is a proper keyboard. Would it be awesome to be able to buy a Space Grey or black-ish rMBP? Heck yes! 4k displays in a laptop? That is a lot of real estate for such a s small screen... scaling would need to be better than on the Retina screens. Really good battery life is more important to me, and surely they won't be dropping the dGPU for the 15"?

If we get a Skylake rMBP at the March event I'm fairly sure it will be for the 13" model only, and it probably won't be a redesign I'm guessing. (Much like last years upgrade).

If that happens, the redesigned rMBP will most likely be released as a 15" model at WWDC in June. Redesigned 13" model in Q4 '16/Q1 '17.

It makes sense because Polaris is maybe not ready for 15" rMPB. But 13" rMPB don't wait for Polaris anyway. It's only question of Apple marketing strategy...

speaking of redesign, we may see cosmetic external, and much more internal. Probably Jony Ive lost his way in industrial design creativity for macs and more into other responsibilities now...
