Nope, the tagline from Oct '14 was "It's been ways too long" (but the image is, though)
Ah, my bad! The image i saw had "it's been way too long" on it. I like this mysterious "leak" :p

I can't wait for the event to be over, whether we get new macs or not. The anticipation is killing me.

I just want to be either extremely happy with Apple, or extremely disappointed in them, already.

That's a surprisingly good estimate. unforunately we screwed it up :(

It's 3AM in Cupertino! I think the invites will go out today, but we need to let those poor people sleep first ^^

NEVER! They made us wait already too much!
:D
I always forget that I have a different time zone from Cupertino.
So let's wait another couple of hours...

I seriously tried to like Win10 and think about alternatives, but my workflow, the general design and quality of apple products compared with generic windows boxes and most of all, the ease of use and the compatibility across the MacOS and iOS ecosystem is what keeps me on the apple side. I just fell in love with a bunch of new productivity apps (MS store for apps is a mess in my opinion) so I really really enjoy MacOSing again, no matter how much longer I gotta wait. Beefed up my legendary late 2012 mac mini to 2,6 i7 Quad, 16 GB Ram, 512 GB SSD systemdisk internal, 1TB 2,5" 7.200 rpm secondary internal disk for time machine backups. It flies. I love it. Still gonna need a MBP! :)

But with a separate GPU, the CPU and GPU compete over 85 watts of power. However, on Iris Pro the GPU is part of the CPU, so the CPU and GPU will have to compete over the 45 watt CPU limit. Wouldn't forcing the GPU and CPU to share 45 watts vs 85 watts reduce performance, even though Iris Pro is more efficient?
People forget that CPU SoC and Chipset alone draw 51W, because Chipset has 6W TDP. And what about RAM, screen, battery, the rest of the system? All of that has to fed with power. So for all of the rest of hardware in Macbook Pro there is only 34W of power available.

No, the CPU will not reduce performance, because SoC is designed to work in that particular thermal envelope.

Was there already some speculation about the location for the presentation?
It could be in SF (Yerba Buena, Moscone West would be too big I think), but there are plenty different possible locations.

Aaaaahhh.
Mmmmm.
The bezel on the XPS makes me more than a little hot under the collar.
I mean look at it.
Look at it!
So, so sexy.

I really hate the rest of it though, can't stand black computers.
Looking at it is like taking a cheese grater to my eyes.
(MY eyes, I'm the problem here, I'm aware of that ;) )

God, if Apple just keeps the overall design of the rMBP and shrinks the bezel I might end up perpetrating unspeakable acts of affect upon it.

I agree that my mid-2012 rMBP has aged extremely well. The screen, SSD, ram, USB 3.0, and form factor made it far ahead of its time for 2012, so it got extra longevity from the get-go, plus Intel dropped the ball on Broadwell and Skylake, so we never ended up seeing the usual successor models.

That said, we're finally--3ish years later--at a point where some components are inadequate. My wishlist:
  • Skylake
  • Thunderbolt 3
  • Thinner bezel. (would be nice if that translated into a slightly smaller overall footprint as well)
  • Nvidia 980 graphics (and/or Pascal). I want a heavyweight GPU that can handle VR. (probably the least likely to happen, but I can dream)
  • Larger SSD. Option for 2TB or more (this is where my 2012 model hurts the most. SSD is beyond full and I keep having to use external drives. )
  • Option for 32 gigs of RAM.

Didn't Gurman talk about it being a smaller Apple Campus based event?

i dont like the big bezel around the mbpr also. wish they can slim it down (the bezel), ie. put a 16" screen in the current 15" or make use of the bezel somehow.
front facing speakers integrated into the screen would be awesome! (and put a thicker heat sink and fan in place of the existing speakers to solve the heat issues!

I'm interested in wireless charging. Imagine buying a big Qi or whatever standard charging mat, plonk your laptop down and you're good to go. This would allow apple to remove even the MagSafe 2 port in favour of normal TB 3/USB Type C charging port.

It is definitely the future, but right now it's too much in its infancy. Everytime somebody mentions wireless charging for laptops I imagine it looking like this:

Kinda Off-Topic, but also On-Topic because some of you showed interest in eGPU/eGPU docks:

AMD finally showed their eGPU software solution: AMD XConnect.
It is basically a standard for eGPU dock manufacturers.
It says that it:
  • works with Thunderbolt 3 with 4 PCI-Express 3.0 Lanes,
  • works by simple Plug'n'Play, the drivers can be installed alongside your NVIDIA /Intel GPU drivers and the Radeon Software Crimson drivers automatically detects the eGPU and switches to it, without the need to restart your notebook
  • System requirements are Windows 10 Build 10586, BIOS/UEFI which supports external GPUs through ACPI, and a Radeon-GPU with CGN-Architecture (Rx-200-series and newer)
It is also stated that you don't need to have a Radeon GPU in your system for it to work.
Xconnenct is used as a certificate for AMD ready eGPU solutions (like Freesync-monitors), the Razer Core is the first one to use it.

News in German, but I think it should appear on US/UK sites quickly.

I hope Apple supports it in their next OS!

Or something like "Let's talk Mac", referring to Siri capabilities.
Fantasies... hope we'll see invites soon...
