This has come to "just wait one week". So if I were some of you guys (the ones that wanna get now a laptop before the event) I'd wait just a bit more. If they don't throw any new macbook then buy, you will have lost only one week, but buying now could be a mistake worth the months/years of regret.

Imagine the ones who've been waiting for a new Thunderbolt Display. 1642 days.

Let me repeat that for you. One thousand six hundred forty-two days.

Hehe. Just to put it into perspective.

Took 1580 days, or thereabouts, to refresh the second-gen Cinema Displays to the LED models.

it can be interpreted as a subtle reference to watch bands (since Apple sells a milanese loop for the watch).

Now that I think about it, this is not a subtle reference at all, so it might be an intentional attempt at misleading people.

maybe they really are going to surprise us. or maybe i've been reading this thread for too long. /whoknows
No.

The primary meaning of "loop you in" is simply "bringing you up to speed". The second meaning is just referring to the keynote location of 1 Infinite Loop, the Apple Campus. This is not hinting that the keynote is primarily about watch bands. Seriously, people!

I stand corrected. That makes more sense (although you can't ignore the watch band angle :p )

Like I said, I think I've been immersed in the topic of new rMBPs (and this event) so long that I've lost all sense of perspective. my bad.

Why has no one pointed this out before. Thank you.
You've made me hopeful again as I ride this rollercoaster of doubt.

I'm also really hopeful for some rMBP updates next Monday. I've been without my (2011 13") MBP for months now. I lent it out to a family member who needed a Mac and couldn't afford one at the time. Instead of getting the MBP back, I'm getting money to put toward a new one (yay for upgrades!).

Mark Gurman isn't thinking it likely Macs will be at the event. would many people claim knowledge better than Gurman on rumours?

"Sources say that this event will likely focus solely around the new iPhone, iPad, and Apple Watch announcements.
Faster MacBooks are in store for debut by WWDC, potentially in April or May, and new MacBook Pros coming by the second half of the year."

I know I'm being optimistic, but I really could see an event between Loop and WWDC that's Mac focused: MB/MBA, MBP, Mac Mini, Mac Pro and Thunderbolt display, maybe even a version of the iMac with color options. A lot of these are in much longer waiting periods than the MBP.

If OS X Manteca / Arroyo Grande will have Siri and iOS 10 will be as big for iOS as the original OS X was, they'll be the core focus of WWDC. There are so many products and types of software now, a lot of them very new: Apple Music, Apple TV, Apple Pay, Apple Watch, iPad Pro, CarPlay, new Apple stores, HomeKit, HealthKit, etc. All could be vying for space at WWDC (and even Loop).

4K may (debatably) make sense on a 21.5" screen. On a 14"/16" screen, it's more in the order of gimmicks and one-upmanship. Also, as @kristoffer4 says - it will have an adverse effect on battery life, and that's something Apple will have looked at carefully, since they're so stingy with batteries to begin with.

For those that remain at the standard pixel doubling resolution of 1440x900 it doesn't make sense. I need more screen real estate then that and run on the scaled resolution of 1920*1200. So going to 4k would give me the pixel doubling improvements, so I'm hoping they go for it.

Since you know we constantly hijack this thread ourselves with off-topics anyways because you know... no new information, I was even thinking about down/up (whatever)-grading my iPhone 6 to the iPhone 5SE (or whatever it will be called). Anyone else with me on this?

As of why, here's why:
  • I generally like the smaller form factor
  • I like the Design of the 5S (not such a fan of the rounded edges of the 6)
  • I have a 64 GB iPhone 6 which is way TOO MUCH for me, if Apple would offer 32 GB on the 5SE, that'd be perfect
  • My girlfriend always gets excited when we hug, then realizes it's just that bulky iPhone 6 in my pocket

Thoughts?

Second half of the year? That's a terrifying proposition that Apple leave their pro line up at a 1.5 year refresh cycle. While it sucks, I wouldn't be surprised by it. Those that follow Apple closely (i.e., people on these forums) will just adjust our buying cycle to coincide with a refresh. Those that don't pay be buying over one year old hardware, but they'd be none the wiser and Apple would make greater profits due to lower cost of parts (with part costs dropping significantly after one year on the market and to help Intel get rid of their older supply).

Ok guys... here is some hope for people waiting for a rMBP 13 with skylake

https://www.otto.de/p/acer-aspire-e...speicher-527428139/#variationId=527428140-M24

It has i5-6267U with Iris 550 (28W)

April availability. I also found another models from acer with this CPU.

The i7-6267U with Iris 550 (28W) the top option for rMBP13 is also available right now. There is even a review from an user a few days ago.

http://www.amazon.com/VAIO-Laptop-i7-6567U-Memory-Windows/dp/B01BUUEI5G

So... No excuses for not updating at least the 13inch model and maybe the Mac Minis

I too would be surprised if we don't at least get a silent upgrade of the 13". If we don't see anything for any Mac next week then we can say with certainty that there's a redesign coming out at WWDC.

I think 3D Touch will continue to gain traction within iOS 10, so keep that in mind. Form factor / screen size and budget are the two main selling points of the SE. If that's what you care about, it's a no brainer. I also believe that iOS 10 will have more features to utilize the larger screen sizes (enhanced multi-tasking).

Yea, the 13" should be imminent; hopefully next week. We should know more about the 15" after GDC, where the first product with the Iris Pro 580 will be released. Where my GDC people at? Keep us updated!

【BOOM】

Rose-gold 12'' Macbook is confirmed to be shown in next week's spring event.

Information from a insider in Chinese manufacturer.

My idea:
If there is a part about Macbook in the event, they definately will update more than one product line.
Which means, there is a huge possibility of Skylake Macbook Pro!!!

He also said there will be some new stereo equipment shown on the event.
And a new color called jewelry blue will be the fifth device color.
The production of the jewelry blue Macbook has already started, but may not be shown in this event.

That source is also saying that he will have some info for the MBP tomorrow. Should be interesting.

The Sapphire blue is interesting. Could be similar to the Sapphire black on Samsung galaxy phones.

Edit: spelling

Somebody on this thread (sorry can't remember their name) suggested that there would be a hardware release only when the next version of OS X was released so the two could dovetail nicely...

That theory does sound very Apple
