Thanks for the link. You really think they'll drop that low? I figured $1800 (the new one will still run $2500 and I can't imagine the price difference between the latest model and the previous being $1k).

Even if I sell it for $1800 . Ebay takes 10% which is $180 and it costs about $15 for shipping. so yeah.... I don't wanna waste $200 when the event is around the corner
Yeah, I have no intention of jumping on anything before the event. Though at that price, I'm really tempted. I'm worried that they sell out and nothing comes out at next weeks event.
There are plenty of retailers selling around that price. I hope this is the sign of the release of new mbps next week

I sell on craigslist to avoid those fees. I'm also thinking of the fact that my current 2012 rMBP, while running fine now, may not look too great by the summer as the battery is now down to 70% health (seems to be losing a percent every couple weeks). That would destroy the resale value of my machine if I can't even show 3 hours of battery life to any potential buyer.

I haven't found any other retailer even remotely close to this price on the 15" with a dgpu. This is $550 cheaper then new ($170 cheaper then Apple's refurb) of that model. Additionally, the same seller has the top end 15" for only $50 cheaper then Apple's new pricing so I don't know why this particular model is priced so much below Apple and every where else.

...I still can't fathom paying that much for 2 - 3 year old tech...

I like to think that if the 'general public' were aware of this, Apple would have no choice but to upgrade the 15" in a ~week ....and they probably would have had to upgraded it to broadwell when they could, to at least make a current purchase a bit more palatable from a spec sense, for anyone / company that had to purchase for whatever reason.

March 21 cannot come soon enough!

Delivery dates aren't slipping at all. I just checked and a standard config. 13-inch would deliver "tomorrow" :/

using it as a casual computer at home like you do, shouldn't be causing crashes or blue

You don't know what i've done to my custom built PC ;)

And I am a producer too! Next year I am going to study electronic music at the conservatory in Haarlem.

I have Ableton crash on me sooo many times, as the program unfortunately can't handle big RAM loads.
But windows has never caused a problem

Today the MacBookPro has turned 300 days since update.
THIS IS MADNESS!

How do you guys feel about a 4k display? Unnecessary ? The 21" imac already has one, it would be a nice thing to have

4K may (debatably) make sense on a 21.5" screen. On a 14"/16" screen, it's more in the order of gimmicks and one-upmanship. Also, as @kristoffer4 says - it will have an adverse effect on battery life, and that's something Apple will have looked at carefully, since they're so stingy with batteries to begin with.

4K is definitely recognisable from 2880x1880 (XPS 15 <> rMBP 15", although not at a distance) but Apple is more cautious about the battery life tradeoff than Dell so we probably won't see it.

Maybe I didn't see it or my Google translation is bad, but the post says "I heard that the keyboard function keys are hidden in shadow, but also engage in touch, OMG." I don't see anything about an actual touch screen. I interpreted it as those buttons on laptops that you can touch, like this.

Actually different ways of understanding. I was also confused when first read it.

Ok so it doesnt make sense to me, apple says "let us loop you in" but if they dont release a new mpb at the event, a lot of people will go out or never go into their loop bc they'll turn to windows. Or, i dont really get the meaning of "loop you in" (im french).
To me, Loop you in = join the gang

Ok i thought it could have a double meaning.
Excuse my french then ;)
it can be interpreted as a subtle reference to watch bands (since Apple sells a milanese loop for the watch).

Now that I think about it, this is not a subtle reference at all, so it might be an intentional attempt at misleading people.

maybe they really are going to surprise us. or maybe i've been reading this thread for too long. /whoknows

I'm also not a native english speaker but is there a chance that "let us loop you in" means something like:

  • let us fool you
  • lets make something come full circle
  • lets make you part of something
or do you guys think it literally just means
  • let us put some flimsy peripheral watchbands around your wrist

?
Ideas?

I like the Let us 10op YOu (10 years old) since the first Macbook Pro at 2006

wow.
thats really clever.
Do you think it has some actual meaning, I mean have past invitations been THIS cryptic AND creative?

That "theory" was post a few pages ago, I asked the same you ask me, because it's the first time I follow so close an Apple event. But nobody give a clear answer.

I don't know if invitations had have similar cryptic hints in the past, sorry.

But I want to believe lol
