Really want to ask you guys, when you send :) in your culture, what do you actually mean?

Because this emotion icon means "smile with contempt or scorn" in China, kind of an elegant indifference, like "It's interesting" or "I hear what you say".

What are you guys thinking of buying of there aren't any updates this week?

I've needed a new computer for 3 months now, and was planning to replace my 2008 15" MBP which is beyond salvageable with the redesigned 15". I'm admittedly a light user (browsing, MS Office, Preview) and need a bigger screen (have never wanted an external) but don't need many ports, so was considering a refurbished rMB 1.1GHz or a 13" MBP to tide me over until June/possibly later. Any thoughts or bright ideas to help a tech naive person out? Thanks!!

A ticket for a front row seat for this thread and some popcorn :D

A cheap SSD for your 2008 MBP if you don't have one might be a cheaper way to tide over?

Thought:

Just assume that apple drops the dGpu from MBP's and relies totally on iGPU, then what they are gonna sell at 2500$?

option 1: in 2000$ model we won't get iris pro 580.
option 2: no model worth 2500$.
Just a model with 512GB and a better processor. Like 13 inch.

I just looked it up, you must have got your computer before April in 2010. Because April 2010, they moved too i5/i7 processors. And that was the reason I registered for this forum 6 years ago, for the "waiting for Arrandale MBP thread"

Sadly no, I got my MBP 2010 (13") between Dec 2010 - Jan 2011 (Christmas autopresent haha), since I needed it with urgency (my 2yo VAIO broke and had to work with it), so I didn't even look at refresh cycles and all these things I do now. The 13" was the only that wasn't refreshed with Sandy Bridge i5/i7 until 2011 model, which because of life ironies, was refreshed like a month later in Feb :D

Anyaway it lasted me 5 years, changing only the fan once. I even played Bioshock Infinite with it on Bootcamp, despite the 320m not being officialy in the minimum requeriments. So I'm more than happy with my Mac experience. Now my sister is using it with no problems, so that little old b*stard is still alive

It would be great if they had a 32Gb of ram for the high end version.
There would also be more space on the logic board without the dGPU

It depends on the context, it could be used sarcasticly or not. In rare cases, again depending on context, could be used as demeaning something or someone.

But in general if people send it, they do so because they are smiling themselves and want to let the other people know they are pleased. (Speaking for America & The Netherlands and I assume most western cultures)

EDIT: And the live event will start at 18:00 here in Holland, which is absolutely a blessing.

BB employee claiming the Macbook looks to be updated tomorrow : https://www.reddit.com/r/apple/comments/4b7kyv/macbook_12_renew/

This jives with the earlier leak of Macbook update tomorrow. Nothing on the Pro front though.

Most here know that they are going to refresh the 12" rMB, new rose gold option, add a Thunderbolt 3 controller to that lonely USB C port, and Skylake. And like that Reddit user posted, no new rMBP or Airs. Yet people still want to believe (or fool themselves). *leaves box of tissues, and pills*
Anyways, WWDC here we come.

Can someone help me why is the rMBP the one with the top specs is the only one i can change the Storage capacity ? The other 2 i cant only RAMS & processor i can change ?

The MBP situation is ridiculous.

There are a ridiculous number of modified/upgraded 2010+ model MBPs out there.

It's long overdue. Dell, Lenovo, Razor, etc. have all caught up and offer superior hardware.

Its my first mac anyway so i will be buying one soon i hope a new coming out but anyway both would be the same for me i am not doing anything professional on it but i would a bigger storage thats all i can buy 128 gb and external hDD and it would be much cheaper for me but i prefer to have internal storage thats all ? So i guess it is what it is and nothing i can do about it

I will take a Thunderbolt 3 12 inch Rose Gold MacBook to tide me over until redesigns in June for MacBook Pro.

13" 2.7GHz, there are 2 SSD sizes, the model on the left is 128GB, model in the middle is 256GB.
On the right, is the 13" 2.9GHz - you need to press select, to then choose between SSD size from the next screen.
Need to press select under the 15" MBP models to choose SSD size also.

Sadly that's the apple way... You could always upgrade the storage yourself now that OWC offers upgrade kits..

12" - 14" - 16" MacBooks - upgradeable to i7 but iGPU only
15" MacBook Pro - i7 and dGPU

5K Thunderbolt 3 display with eGPU and noGPU options

Sounds like a decent lineup for me imho :p

No iGPU for 15" if the dGPU isn't some sort of GTX970-980m. The Iris Pro 580 is performing like a GTX950m, which is the equivalent of the top spec MBP dGPU Apple used to put in (750m i.e).

Also: what? 16" Macbook but a 15" Macbook Pro? This doesn't make any sense.

I'd imagine that they would push with the even numbered lines of MB lines and 16" with a form factor of the rMB and perhaps a thin bezel like XPS sounds doable.

Nevertheless. I would imagine that they would consider offering a 15" as a legacy power model for people who don't mind carrying around a heavier weight with improved graphics and CPU.

I'm imagining that if apple goes down that route, then the rMBs would come with a core M and max upgrade to a dual core i7. Where as the pro model would come with a quad core i7.

I feel for 13" Macbook Owners. 15", ok, probably yield issues. But 13" parts are available and yet still (potentially) nothing? Even if stock is tight why not release what they can and get people signed up for a waiting list. Aren't we all used to stuff going out of stock within the first two minutes of preorder anyway?

@ssong What I meant is: there was once a 17" for Pro users, and many people are looking for a big display despite 15" being enough for most of us. I think the logic would be to have a 12"-14" MB line, and a 14"-16" MBP line with the same size than now but with tinner bezels. I don't see an ultraportable laptop like it is the actual MB being big enough to make it harder to carry, it would be a contradiction.
