The Lenovos are definitely a MBP competitor.Would this these be the equivalent of MBPs or MBAs?
I'm pretty confident the pricing will be roughly the same. What do you guys think about the pricing, would it stay roughly the same as the pricing now? I'm planning to save $3500 (AUD) by the end of next month hopefully it shouldn't be more than that for a decent MBP 15".
*snip*
The Lenovo Thinkpad 15" with the new Xeon is 25% heavier than the current MBP and super thick. What's the TDP for these?
I would not expect the new Xeon to end up in the MBP. The Macbook Pro has always been more of a casual consumer computer and the "Pro" should not confuse it with the Mac Pro.
You should not expect any new 13" either, I mean the 13" got the new Broadwell CPU just 5 months ago. If you need one go buy it.

Apple lagging behind as usual: http://www.theverge.com/2015/8/11/9129681/lenovo-skylake-xeon-notebooks-p50-p70
Lenovo Thinkpad P50 and P70 with Skylake, 4K display and 64GB RAM, up to 1TB of SSD storage, and two USB-C Thunderbolt 3 ports for super-fast data transfer.
Prices for the P50 start at $1,599 and for the P70 at $1,999
The ones that will be released this fall are 47W parts suitable for the 15" rMBP. Now, I hope Apple decides to use these processors to refresh that ageing Haswell 15" rMBP this fall and not wait and leave it for next year.
This was published 3 moths ago, and now with Lenovo pretty much confirming this leak, I believe this is accurate:Where did you find this info about the 47W parts suitable for the 15". I'm waiting on one but can't wait much longer than October.

The ones with HQ (High performance graphics and Quad core) at the end are destined for the 15" rMBP. I still have this uneasy feeling that they will not announce any Skylake rMBP this year and just a Broadwell refreshed iMac lineup.
Determining that would be difficult since that chart doesn't list the frequencies. I assume they would be using the 6920 HQ and 6820HQ the since they are closer in terms of numbering (weak argument I know) to the Core i7-4980HQ 2.8 GHz and the Core i7-4870HQ 2.5 GHz. But they could use the i7-6700HQ since is similar to the Core i7-4770HQ 2.2 GHz. Anyways this is just a guess and we will have to wait until Tuesday (IDF2015) for Intel to reveal the frequencies of these processors.Could the i7-6700HQ be the MBP 15" cpu? because that has the September launch.
Note that the size/weight could be a lot to do with cooling the new GTX980M based Quadro cards in those machines, something a MacBook Pro has never come even close to having (normally a 960/970 level card in these machines).
I don't doubt that these processors could very easily end up in the new rMBP's due to their TB3 I/O controllers with Alpine Ridge/etc.. Xeon feels *very* Pro/Apple and the markup (considering Lenovo's announced pricing) probably isn't as much as we think. Even ArsTechnica said these had a lot more in common with the mobile i7's than a *true* Xeon chip.
These will be 45/47w TDP chips, quad core with hyper-threading and an ECC enabled memory controller, enabling a higher density than we currently have in current rMBP's.
A Xeon/16-32GB/dGPU rMBP seems right up Apple's alley.

How about the next MBP comes with an i7 and has the BTO for the xeon cpu and maybe a firepro dGPU?
What are the odds of a Skylake 13" rMBP in October/November? Can't stand my late 2010 MBA anymore, If it gets release only in March, I will definitely buy one now, but 2 months from now maybe I could wait.
It wouldn't be worth it if that's what you're asking. It depends on which version and storage though but probably (from quick searches) close to 60-75% would be my guess. You could get more if you're lucky though I'd assume.Let's say you buy a 13" Broadwell MPBr now, then the Skylake MBPr releases Q1 2016. What value of the original price can you expect to be able to sell your 13" Broadwell for if you act fast? Like 80%, 70%, 60% of its original value?
There's still no information about a 28W Skylake-U. The leaks shows that two U processors will be released in January 2016 but these are the 15W vPro versions. What are the odds of a Skylake 13" rMBP in October/November?
