Part1 of my 2016 update plan is done.
Ordered basemodel space gray 12" MacBook 2016 with some weird combination of my friend's education discount and a limited deal at an authorized reseller.
So instead of paying 1450€ directly at Apple I've paid 1124€, but I'm a little bit afraid of delivery times, as there wasn't any available stock.

Hopefully it's going to arrive fast, I want something to replace my iPad with and to code on the go without carrying around my 15", which hopefully can go into retirement after WWDC.

yep and that vaio is the only model listed at Geekbench so chips have not been available since January.
The bottom line is that apple could present the 13" on march event, but they hold it to present a redesign much improved 13 and 15 mbp or like other rumors 14" and 16" at the same dimensions only thinner and liter

I've been waiting for the new PRO line for a couple of months now. I've been tempted by some really nice discounts, but I resisted since I really want to see what's new. Because I'm pretty sure something new has to come up otherwise it would be a business-wise bad move for Apple. New Windows laptops are emerging now and then, equipped with good cpu/dgpu, ram and ssd drives. It's time Apple has to make a move. Even if it's a small bump with specs without touching I/O and design. So that's the reason I think the new stuff will come and will come in June. Also, I just wish so : )

The thing is that people are getting tired of:
1) waiting for the upgrade (no reason to explain that)
2) price tags on the MBP (these days you get less for more, others tend to offer better specs for less and as for now, the difference between Apple and others starts to blur)
3) mystery over whether or not we can expect something coming (at least a glance or line from Apple to warm up people like us)

I really want new MBP and I have no big expectation except for decency and reasonable pricing. I don't see Apple reducing the price but if that stays level, I expect entry level of 15s (or 16 if so) to be 512 SSD, 16/32 RAM and quad i7 with some 2.5 GHz.

edit: if they get rid of audio jack input, I'm off. That would be the stupidest thing to go. Just take a look how many headphones, especially those designed for working with music, are on the market. I don't see sound engineers going wireless or using another dongles. For those who don't know... when it comes to recording interfaces we have USB 2.0 reign. There are few Thunderbolts and even few USB 3.0. Some studios are still with firewire and they are not outdated at all. Remaking the MBP can't put those people off. Including me.

Tempted to buy now so I'm not disappointed. I really hope that Apple doesn't build another Super Thin less powerful MacBook Pro. I am hoping for better specs and perhaps some external gpu support. But in all honesty I think I'm hoping for too much. I don't need more then 9 hours of battery life!

I guess Apple is slowly realising that having an Apple at the back of the lid is not cutting it anymore and that they actually need to show more than 5% more performance @ 15% higher price (that's in Europe at least). Really anxious to see what they come up with.

As Serban pointed out, the typical refresh could have been announced at the stupid watch band presentation otherwise.

Thin is good. I like my girls thin. But bony thin is not good for reproduction.

I would love to see 10% or 20% shaved off the current MBP thickness. If it's too thin, it wouldn't be heavy enough to hold up a 16" screen at 45 degrees+? It needs a bit of weight to do that.

I'd be quite happy to see the Apple back-lit up logo gone. If we move to an OLED screen (as opposed to a LCD+backlight screen), there are power benefits to not having the light switched on? (albeit very small power benefits...) Anyway, it's differences and details that matter. I'd like to be able to switch it off. Sometimes it's all a bit much and I prefer to be in a subtle, blend-in mode.

Actually the other side will have two 3.5mm jacks ;)

In professional, all-digital studios, using 3.5mm jacks defeats the whole purpose of your investment.

It's a miracle that flimsy 3.5mm jacks are still around.

I reckon they can make the top lid of the laptop thinner while also shaving off some millimetres from the bit below the red line, or bring the bottom of the laptop up to the red line completely without sacrificing the height required on the side of the laptop to house the external ports.

The SD card slot has to go. As does HDMI. And the USB-3.

I'd like to see two USB-C on the 14" and three on the 16". But maybe just two on both.

I'll be able to connect the laptop to a 5k screen when I need to (and charge my laptop from the same port) and do high speed/low latency data IO through the other port.

For anything else, I'll go buy an adapter. I'd prefer this than have everything from USB ports, 3.5mm jacks and parallel port connectors tacked on all around the machine, ruining the design in the process.

yup, because adapters look gorgeous lying around your desk.
sometimes i wonder if you're trolling or just plain dumb.

no reason to 24 gb ram, it will be 16 or 32
is there any confirm that skylake mobile will support 32gb of ram?
for what i get from datasheet i understood maximum is still 16gb, but i might well be wrong

you just love starting fires don't you :p that comment is bound to rile up quite a few people, but I mean seriously isn't that just stripping a pro machine from one of its qualities that makes it a pro?

I dunno about you but I want my 'pro' device to be a jack of all trades, not a one trick pony. Like always, I agree that the future lies in TB-3/USB-C, but its far too premature dude. People who buy the laptop will be forced to buy an adapter that's intended as a bridge for the transition period. Once that is over, a £20-50 adapter will be virtually useless.

I'd be cool with the suggested changes as long as Apple includes an adapter gratis in box

There you go, dear Opp.
Apple has already provided the solution for you.
Take full advantage of it.
Have fun!

Just found this on the usual NotJonyIve twitter.
I lolled hard

..... o_O
I like blond girls with blue eyes big boobs.
Boobs mean milk.
Milk is very good for reproduction.
So I expect the next MBP having a blonde cover and blue screen.

Apple, do you hear me?
What about making a new amazing MacBoobsPro?

so we know for 100% sure that:yes the lid will be slimmer thanks to the new tech from the 12" Macbook. The base also will be slimmer thanks to the replacing usb 3 with usb-c and removing the card slot
also the speakers will be improved since apple is updating their products with better one since beats acquisition, they started with 12" Macbook and after that with both ipad pro
Also will come in multiple colours
