Well, they made extra battery case for iPhone. Nothing stops them from making an ugly one for rMBP.

You mean like this? (JonyIveParody's Twitter)

I made a poll not too long ago:

problem with polls is that, like this one, it's biased. you shouldn't put comments or anything in the options, let people decide between: 13 14 15 16 17 18 and then see what comes out.

Two possibilities. Apple releasing new Macbook Pro:
-Next WWDC with macOS announcement.
-Fall keynote with macOS releasing.

fall (september) is usually about iphones

There's another possibility: announce new MBPs in June, but don't release them until August. That way they don't steal the iPhones' thunder, but they have enough time to add a component which is ready, but not at the production scales Apple needs (Polaris maybe?).

But Polaris would only be used in the 15" model, so you could see the redesign revealed in June through the 13" model and then the 15" redesign in the fall.

I think they did that kind of staggered release with the 2012 MBP retina redesign, though the 15" came out first IIRC.

I think with the lack of rumors 1 of 2 things is going on.

1. It won't be till September or later

2. It is a full redesign and Apple wants it to be very very quiet till it's released. So they will demo a brand new rMBP at WWDC that has not been put into production yet so their cannot be any leaks. Then they will say it ships late July.

I don't recal if their were Mac Pro rumors before the current design was unveiled, but it seems to be how they kept that quiet.

First 13" retina macbook pro was released in Fall '12. Apple could do the same this time...

I still can't decide. I think it might depend on the guts. If the 16" has just a beast of a dGPU (compared to the iris 550) I might go for it. Otherwise I think I might like the portability of the 14" more. Easier to sit on a couch or bring with me to school/hospital

I'm curious, are you a medical student or resident by any chance?

To hide details of incoming products you have to introduce them before getting official certifications or approvals...and because of that they could release them in July/August.

Just grabbed the XPS 15 i7/16/512 for $1,899. I needed a working computer badly and I just don't trust what Apple is/isn't doing anymore. Whenever the new Pro releases I will grab that also and possibly sell the XPS depending on how much I am enjoying it.

By the way where did this 14" and 16" stuff come from again? New rumor?

Medical student. I heard the surface pros are great for when you're in the hospital. So even if the new macs come out I might see what the pro 5 has to offer in October.

Where at? I work with medical students in the Philadelphia area. I see a lot of them with iPads. One of our residents just got an iPad Pro 9.7" and loves it.

A lot of people assume that the 12" rMB means an adoption of even-numbered screen sizes. What I think people miss is that the 12" screen comes from the width of the keyboard. Apple engineered the thin, larger-keyed, butterfly keyboard to perfection and then put whatever sized screen on it that fit, which happened to be 12".

I believe that Apple settled on 13" and 15" for the MBP for a reason and will stick with those. If they have the ability to make bezels smaller, they're more likely to make the body less wide and lighter as that is their obsession. In other words, bring the bezels closer to the screen, not bring the screen out towards the bezels.

I literally just bought it, but I have played around with one. I was shocked how much I liked it. Quality wise it's just about as good as a Mac, it really is a great product. The 4K touchscreen is awesome and as for scaling overall it's perfectly fine. Some minor scaling issues are present, but this summer they will be addressed. It feels real premium and real modern.

The Mac is obviously great, but dull. Mac's need to move in a modern direction like touchscreen or gaming. I also considered a Surface Book which really makes a Mac seem boring, but the price for what you get inside is a no go. Mac's are way behind in features and innovation. Hopefully this summer that changes.

YES! Nice to see a fellow medical student here. I thought I was the only crazy one.
I, too, have been thinking about getting the Surface Book 2 if Apple bails on me. I could use the tablet portion in classes and the laptop base when at home.

However, at this point, it's quite buggy, and I'll be waiting to see if they resolve that issue in the next iteration, before making any purchases.

Yeah I actually got the surface book and was super psyched about it at first.... then it turned out to be a little buggy. There was some quality issues with light bleed and the hinge making funny sounds. About 20 days into it I got some serious buyer remorse. I shelled out $2k for a laptop with the expectation of not having to deal with pitfalls of a <$700 laptop but that wasn't the case, and I couldn't justify keeping it.
.....And I've been waiting for the new MBPs ever since (December) <sigh>

/edit I also wasn't using the tablet/pen combo nearly as much as I would've thought

Hmmmm that's pretty encouraging... If you don't mind me asking one more question, how do you find your other Apple devices (assuming you own an iPhone) fit within the work flow? Do you ever miss ios-osx only features?
