Hi all, would the new Iris Pro iGPU for the new MBp be able to drive a 5k or 4K screen next to the MBp's monitor? (Let's assume the latter is also 4K for now ;) ) Both at 60 Hz. Or would I need a dGPU for that?
Thanks!

I have a feeling we are all gonna be let down by the reveal. So its best to probably lower our expectations. The last Macbook + iMac updates were both underwhelming...

So now that NUC benches are up in Geekbench does anyone want to take a stab at interpreting them? Does it make sense to compare GB Mac to GB Windows scores?

Now you're just trolling ... really. They were having many plans with Apple Tv

I agree that Serban's comment is a bit over the top but in terms of H/W I actually would imagine the Apple TV as we know it to disappear within a few years. Mainly because Apple's overall vision of H/W compatibility would mean that people would have as little extra peripherals as possible.

iPhone - for mobile communication / media consumption
iPad - light media consumption, light web browsing
MB / rMBP - slightly heavier tasks and longer usage
Mac - heavy tasks and long term usage
=====
Apple TV - Media hub for the home
Apple TimeCapsule - backup centre and internet hub for home

=====
Apple Car - seamless transportation from home to work or anywhere else.

I'd imagine that they would want everything to integrate as nicely as possible but overtime I imagine that Apple TV will evolve into something closer to Amazon's Echo. A domestic hub acting as the control tower for HomeKit devices and if technology allows it, streaming QHD/UHD video to a compatible TV through AirPlay. So it would be less of Apple TV but more of Apple Home? Something like that?

Eh... i dunno though, for now all I want is a really nice rMBP with Skylake and either a capable enough iGPU or a nice beefy dGPU.

Actually, he may not exactly troll. In current form and current specs it might die. However...

AMD provided some time ago engineering samples of their Zen-based APUs to Apple. It was rumored for a console or HTPC computer for living room...

And rumors about VR, and additions to Metal now start making sense ;).

I don't know what I'm going to do when it's all over. This is my default bathroom read. I guess I'll just go straight to the Waiting for [whatever] thread and keep on waiting.
Oh, even if they announce the MBPs at WWDC with next day availability, I bet this thread has another month left in it while everybody says what they are buying and we anxiously await for the benchmarks. If the shipments are going to be 1 month after WWDC, then we will have 2 months. I'm betting we hit 600 pages before the thread is locked.

So you're saying Apple is coming out with an actual 'TV' soon?

This has been reported since Steve Jobs was CEO, and always had issues because Apple wanted to give something that included cable/services already in the TV, but couldn't get through negotiations with other cable giants.

The MacBook update was simply a processor upgrade and a new color. We're talking about something much more significant, akin to the original rMB announcement.

it probably wouldn't be in a TV form, I'd imagine a hybrid between Echo and the current Apple TV. Apple is obviously not too keen about the display business... I mean look at the thunderbolt display...

Guys, breaking news.

I was finally able to speak with a friend of mine, which is currently working at the Apple Advertisement Department, on the ads of the upcoming MBP.
They still don't know which ad will be published, still he gave me one of them.
I hope you'll enjoy it.

It's also bull-sh-it.

They're maybe slightly better than Dell/HP atm, no more, no less.

It is because you say so with no explanation?

It's the difference that matters.

The guy driving the Porsche gets the fertile skinny blonde. Not the guy in the Toyota. He gets the size 12 plain Jane.

Ok lets talk about dell xps

Let's not.

Seriously it's a pointless apples/oranges debate. An irrelevance to Mac users.

An *actual* TV? As opposed to a figurative one?
