I wasn't comfortable providing a serial number ahead of time simply because someone could register it without physical possession of the computer. Is that a big deal? No. Might it complicate the eventual sale to a real buyer? Maybe. You see people posting pictures of the MBP box labels all the time on eBay, with serial number...so I may be paranoid here.

I let a 256 go for $1650 after over a week of jerking with Craigslist. Having bought and sold MBPs on CL for well over a decade, and occasionally made money on the transaction by selling an older model to someone willing to pay top dollar and buying a newer model at retailers with good prices, I can safely say that it's become much harder to get high values for laptops in the past few years. So this may have just been an artifact of that trend rather than people being suspicious of it being new. But in the old days, I could have fetched $1850 for it easily (and yes, that's despite several retailers selling it for $1799).
no sales tax... no Imperial Entanglements

It may be taking them a long time but at least they will do it right

Yeah, sometimes it seems like Apple "re-invents the wheel", bringing features that have already been present in PCs or Android and then calling it "revolutionary" when they do it, but a lot of the time it really does bring an improved version of it. I don't expect the touch ID for MBP to be anything less than how well it works in the i-devices (which, at least in my experience, is pretty well).

Yeah, if one more article compares the iPad to the Pocket PC I will vomit. Why don't they bring up Palm instead? Palm was a success, Pocket PC crashed and burned like everything else Microsoft did back then.

I agree there won't be a USB-A port, and even though I'd like one, I can understand why. I don't really care about thunderbolt or the SD card slot. I just want a damn HDMI because the classrooms that I teach in have VGA and HDMI hookups. Considering we *just* got the HDMI upgrade, I expect USB-C in maybe 10 years.

I'm just sick of carrying around my dongle that is easy to loose.

Sorry about your loose dongle man...

What if... Apple releases just the 13-inch MacBook Pro at WWDC; says "we're working on ways to expand upon this new OLED display above the keyboard," and "we want developers to be able to program their apps for it too, so here's an SDK..." ?
This is my guess. BUT: "And it's available...nnnnnineteenth of september!"

Why is it so difficult to get an updated 15' rMPB... Come on Apple, stop wasting money on useless things and focus on what your customers need.

They won't announce it like that... reveal in June and say available 4 months later? I don't think they ever did that before. It would be soon after.

Thanks for the info. I just hate dealing with eBay and paypal fees. something like 13% total of something for 2200$ would only make me a little over 1900$. Ill try craigslist and those new apps (letgo and offerup) first.

they did it with the apple watch. 8 months later... but that was a brand new not on the market product

They did with the macbook pro, and it was a big refresh. The macbook pro announces to be a big awaited refresh, so why not ?

And don't forget the Apple Watch. Announced in September, six months later it was re-announced at the March 2015 event... Available 6 weeks after that.

And, it would make sense in this case because it would give developers a few months to support the OLED display.

So is there hard evidence (besides Mark Gurman saying stuff) that a 13" rMBP isn't being announced on Monday?
Since Gurman is so credible, most are believing him when he says no hardware will be announced at WWDC.

The leaked chassis and the new 13" Macbook hinge info we read today seem to say otherwise. If the rMBP 13 was being announced in Q4, I doubt it would be in production now.

We will know in 5 days!

could be that the hinges are actually for the 13" rMB, not Pro...the 13" rMB is rumoured to be released shortly.
Either way, doesn't this hinge report seem to contradict Gurman's prediction about no new hardware? I know he's reliable and all, but the digitmes article seems like very credible and concrete information pointing to a WWDC release of "something" that's not a watch band.

That is true. The hinges could be for the rMB. What I don't understand is if Gurman said there will be no hardware at WWDC, when is this 13" rMB rumored for Q3 supposed to be announced? It doesn't make sense for them to have another event over the summer to me, but not a lot Apple is doing these days makes sense to me.

My point is, I don't see how there will be nothing about hardware at WWDC.

Took the words right out of my mouth!!

There's no need to have an event for a 13" version of the rMB...it's the 12" rMB with an extra inch lol...just a larger option. Seems like it could easily be a press release announcement.
