False alarm!
While I personally still believe...
Apple technician here seems to mean Genius or something similar. Not Engineer. And as we all know, people in the Apple Store are just as clueless as we are...
I dont think the poster was lying, but I think the Genius that helped him probably was just fairly confident there will be a new rMBP, especially if the Genius isnt reading rumor sites. After all, new rMBP on monday seems pretty logical if you arent hearing rumors about Q4 releases especially after the disappointing Spring event.

To me this looks like the keynote schedule.

Tim enters stage
Talks about iPhone SE sales and how customers love the iPhone
Talks about Apple TV sales and how customers are gaming on it (showing Crossy Road)
Talks about Apple Watch (new OS features?)
Talks about Apple TV (new OS features?)
Talks about iOS (new OS features?)
Talks about Siri
Some 6-second demo or something (new Siri AI introduction)
Announces open SDK for Siri

I really don't see Mac anywhere here...

Does everyone like the new force touch trackpad? I feel it needs a bit more oomph in terms of making it feel like a real click. It doesn't simulate the feeling of resistance that the old one gives well enough for me. I hope they make it better for this year's rMBP
To be honest I don't like the new force touch trackpad. Right clicks and drag-n-drop fail too often.

No new theory here, just wondering: if you go to the live stream, it says Special Event 2016, why doesn't it say WWDC keynote address? Did they move to Special Event for all Events?

My predictions:
-new os and services with lot of boring demos.
-new key features of new os won't be showed tomorrow because they will be associated to new macs/iphone/watch (so after fall, nothing).
-I expect new macOS will be more restricted with hardware supported (so lot of our macs will be declared obsolete tomorrow..).
-Tim will say that Apple now is rebranded to fallApple or Fall.

Note: my expectations for tomorrow are really low. Any surprise would be welcome...

They can't not talk about the new MacOS (yes, I'm still hoping for MacOS vs macOS). Siri is all but confirmed at this point. It mentioned Finder on its (her?) own. No link because I'm on my phone, but it should be easy to find.

FT trackpad certainly brought a lot of new capabilities but it's markedly worse at it's most basic functions like you pointed out. I find myself getting frustrated with drag-n-drops all too often. Maybe a driver update could fix this in the future.

You can fix that lack of oomph with a setting dude..

It's still not the same. I mean I would not expect it to be the same - one cannot emulate mechanical click with a magnet - if only Apple had not advertised it this way.

Yup, pretty much. Funny thing it works in OS X like mechanical trackpad worked in Boot Camp. Constantly lowering the bar, Apple.
