Even though WWDC is here and we could see something about the MBP today, I must admit that I just don't care anymore. It'll get here when it gets here. At this point, the only thing I could get excited about is if they announced that they've reanimated Steve Jobs and decided to revert control of the company to him. That'd excite me, and I'm sure Zombie Steve would be better on stage than Tim, Phil, and Craig put together.

Nope - almost all the evidence suggests that it'll be announced in September or October. But we refuse to accept it, essentially, so will continue to hope and then get really disappointed (as in March).
To be more precise - there is no evidence (as you put it) for september-october also. It's totally unknown at this point. Someone here said well that Apple isn't tied to some certain event or schedule, we just want them to be.

Well, Gurman says the end of the year and that reliable analyst said Q4, and I don't think Gurman has ever got anything notably wrong before. I still definitely want there to be an announcement today, but after ignoring Gurman and others in March, getting my hopes up then being very disappointed, I'm definitely more pessimistic this time.

No. Hope.

I am switching into negative mode, and Siri is incapable of that. Why? Because Siri doesn't understand the feeling of prolonged, excruciating wait for a new device. Dark mode? Yeah.. I'm feeling pretty dark and negative Nancy right about now.

I mostly agree.

That being said, in March, not a single rumour was floated regarding redesigned rMBPs.

For WWDC, we've had several conflicting reports in quick succession: the chassis leak, then Gurman saying there will be no new hardware at WWDC, then more rumours that redesigns are coming, then the external display rumour, which was contradicted one day later.

Also noteworthy is the lack of any concrete leaks even about software.

To me, this all reads like Apple is trying really hard to confuse. I wouldn't be surprised if they were leaking the contradictory reports themselves, just to reset the expectations for WWDC to zero. Which has worked wonders, at least on me, since i expect literally nothing from this event.

Basically, let's wait and see.

So, if they really don't release any new rMBP's today, what's the next best alternative for a new ~13" skylake laptop with a better iGPU than HD 520? I don't mind if it runs Windows either since that's what I would most likely run on my rMBP anyway.

It is starting to be quite clear that OSX is macOS from now on, so I think it is obvious that the Apple Store will be down even without any hardware revelations.

I thought they didn't do this anymore.

If the store is to go down, it usually does so around 6AM pacific. So that's 2PM CET? in 20 minutes?

Related: i just converted 10 AM PDT to european time, and i get 6PM. Does the keynote start in 4 hours and 20 minutes or 5 hours and 20 minutes?? :O i don't want to miss the first hour of the event.

Based on recent rumours I think we'll see new MacBook Airs, the new MacBook Pro will come later in the year.

Well, based on recent rumors, we could see:
- new MacBook Air
- new MacBook Pro
- new MacBook
- new MacSomething 13"
- MacBook Pro with OLED strip
- MacBook with metal hinge
- introducing new MacBook Pro, available only in august/september
- nothing of the above-mentioned

This time rumors are pretty chaotic.
Lucky enough, we'll know the truth in 5 hours.

edit:

Where do you live, knassar?
If you're not in London time zone, it starts at 19.00

https://www.macrumors.com/ or http://www.appletimer.com/wwdc/ <-- counter. It does not matter which time-zone you are in.. it's a counter
