Hey guys I'm a new poster but I have been reading this forum for quite sometime. I just wanted to talk about this picture!

The laptops the kids are using are way too square to be a Macbook Air. Little bit bigger than a silver Macbook and a bit thinner than the Macbook Pro Retina!

What does everyone think?

They look like MBs to me.

That auto unlock feature in Sierra is just waiting for Touch ID equipped hardware.
don't get yourself disappointed, they clearly want the auto unlock to work only with apple watch, why don't people get that?
they're apple, they're masters at making you buy 3 products to use a single one of them at full potential.

it shows: a new mac feature,
it reads: a new watch feature, now go buy one.

In this case it was Ming Cho Kuo who said that TouchID would come to the Mac. I don't have to remind you that Ming is no Serban, he's actually reliable. Apple Pay appearance on the Mac also hints at this.

:D

So what are you trying to say? That the MacBook Pro isn't ever getting an update?

All of the credible sources had already gone on record as saying nothing was coming today, they were right. They're also saying Touch ID integration in the new MacBooks..

I suppose the hysterical reaction was inevitable but honestly it was expected to be a software only event

imo, some rumors need to be interpreted: touchID _functionality_ coming to macs may well mean that it will come through an ios device connected to it.
it doesn't tell about touchID _hardware_ installed in the macs.

but time will tell, glad to be proved wrong, i personally think it will be a nice hardware addition to the macs, i just don't see it coming from apple.

Wow. So we're probably going to have to wait till October/November now for the rMBP. By then the Skylake 28W processors will be around 6 months old, and i'm sure the Kaby Lake 28W variants won't be too far away.

As another poster was saying, don't give in and buy a brand new rMBP/MB/MBA etc, if you really need a machine, try and get a good deal for a used one, there are tonnes available on eBay etc, just make sure it is has applecare, isn't stolen etc.

Well I watched the keynote and was bummed there was no hardware at all. Also my phone will not support iOS10 and the :apple:watch remains a joke.

Tomorrow my wife and I are going to buy a PC laptop each as I can't wait any more and I'm not buying ancient hardware.

I'm out! See you next year maybe.

Well at this point I'm going to skip any future Apple products till we get the new MBP. I already skipped the latest iPad (even with its BS Pro moniker).

I already acknowledged that I was wrong and out of the guessing game about 50 pages ago. You wanna save my initial post but gloss over them later ones, go stalk somewhere else lol.

Actually, you never replied back. Stalk? But you're the one who said "see you in March" and never checked back! Wonder why.

I'm an optimist. What if they promote the Touch ID/Apple Watch unlock feature by giving away an Apple Watch when you buy a new MBP (in Sept/Oct). "Sorry for taking so long to get our **** together, but we knew you weren't going anywhere because we've got you by the balls. Here's a free watch to trap you in our ecosystem even further."

never said or hinted that. just saying macs will be more marginal over the coming years as the switch to ios is clearer than ever.
of 4 platform they spent most time on ios, second watch os, then macos close to tvos.

news to macos are few conpared to the 100+ new features we used to have with updates like 10.5 .6 .7 .8. this tells me we won't see any revolution coming to the computer products anymore, but just smaller refinements to products that are basically mature and close to a turning point.

I'm not going to buy a damn watch ($550.00 on up) in order to unlock my MacBook Pro function. Than have to plug in the watch to juice it up every single day. In fact, I'm not going to buy any Apple product and look at Lenovo or Dell. In the mean time, I'll look into the new Microsoft X-Box One S for gaming. Not going to buy an outdated Apple product, and pay top dollar for it again. Fool me once as it goes. At the very, very least, Tim could have given some information for us. Is that so darn hard to do ? I'll speak with my wallet.

because you still need an additional iphone to use an apple watch.
