I'm pissed off I didn't buy a 2015 in Feb now (was one click away )
Especially considering the time looking at this thread several times a day
Even if it has some good sides to it as well, kind of..
Is there a date for this September event ?

It's just crazy that I finally decided to look into purchasing a MBP and then the longest wait in history happened.

Keep your chins up. When it happens, it'll be worth it.
your optimism is sweet.

sadly for you, the golden age of macbooks went from 2006 to 2014. they aren't the main focus anymore.
like the ipod line, which was their core business in 2000-2008 and slowly disappeared thereafter, the macs will go through the same process and will be phased out slowly but inesorably, maybe persist until 2020 or so, but never again with major interest and innovation.

I already built a PC, and I'm thinking of getting the ultra-portable rMB to complement it. At $1000 for the PC and $1300 for the rMB, it's the best of both worlds, at about the same price as a 15" Macbook Pro.

Only thing I'm worried about is having all these different OS-es. I like Apple's ecosystem and that everything falls together easily but I guess I'll just have to give that up. (Or build a Hackintosh but meh) Interesting times to build a new PC with all those fancy GPU's though.

When Apple doesn't announce any new Macs at WWDC. (tldtoday)

Anyone who thinks they will announce mac on an iphone event is just setting himself up for disappointment. They just spent 40 minutes talking about emojis and imessage on an event relevant to developers, why would they talk about this old market they are not interested in?

I think I learn some "Go" and use Googles Cloud Services.
Apple had it all, instead they talked about copy & paste, music, emoji and siri.
Siri does not help at all. Try it outside of the US. It's still a joke.
Apple should have shown new macOs core functionality, not some colorful stuff.
Everything in OSX is outdated if you look under the covers.
Swift was Apples last chance on the "XXX as a service" bandwagon.
But they chose to value privacy. That's fine but not innovative.
You can have privacy and networked services.

PS. What the f was that stupid desktop file sharing???
People did not accept the Ickoud drive????
It's really sad.

The functionality of the iPod was folded into iPhone, so it's not like anything was lost. The same cannot be same for the Mac. I still think Apple has things planned for the Mac, or maybe I'm just being foolish again. I don't know.

The Mac hasn't been Apples main focus for years. No idea why people set themselves up for disappointment, some very credible sources had said there wasn't going to be any hardware announcements today.

Touch ID is delaying this I think. That auto unlock feature in Sierra is just waiting for Touch ID equipped hardware.

Some analysts need to start asking questions on the earnings calls. Clearly there are issues in the hardware side and it is starting to affect earnings. Desktop/laptop sales are down and they haven't released new ones and the expectation is not that sales will improve with older machines.

As much as iOS has been running the show for the last couple years, iOS is still heavily dependent on developers liking the Eco-system and if there is one thing that will start to push developers away it is machines that are out of date. We are clearly seeing it with the gaming/vr companies as well as high end media. If they lose these markets, or stop going after them it will impact iOS long-term.

Questions to ask:

-guidance on release cycles and pacing for desktop - has there been a purposeful change or is it due to "issues"
-guidance on desktop competition and risks to profit centers
-guidance on pro software and impact of lost ground in those markets
-changes in the marketplace that may be affecting the Eco-system competitiveness (Microsoft getting its mojo back on desktop/surface)
-numbers of first time Macos buyers over time? Still increasing?

I went for a short nap, fell asleep and missed the keynote

WOW NO WATCH BANDS

Apple should have announced the fastest h.265 codec and introduced 4k itunes content for an updated atv
But we will see that from sony or microsoft i guess

I wish they'd done a price drop on the MBPs. It's ridiculous that the processor for the 15 inch model is ancient (and the one for the 13 inch isn't much better), yet the devices sell at comparable prices to devices that have Skylake, TB3, USB-C etc.

I know price drops aren't what apple does, but this wait between updates is unprecedented. And I do wonder how long the gap will be in the future - presuming we get new MBPs in September, I guess the next update wouldn't come until possibly early 2018!

On a slightly separate note, I don't understand why the new macOS is 10.12. It's clear we're likely never going to get a reinvention for version 11, and the numbers are beyond ridiculous. They really should've called it macOS 11 to simplify it - now it looks like they never will.

It's the only mac availble. So no need to do so.

ipad.

not that we haven't been told like 1million times already.

and no, i'm not happy about that.

I've been waiting for a new MacBook pro 15" for almost 1,5 years. I didn't want the facelift upgrade with haswell processor from spring 2015. I wanted a processor upgrade as well. Rumours said skylake MacBook could be launched at beginning of 2016, then it was march event 2016, then it was april, then it was wwdc. Well wwdc was the longest i was willing to wait.

Now ill go for lenovo or dell within matter of a day or two.

I'm in the same boat: I've been waiting for like a year to make my purchase, always thinking that the refresh was around the corner... Obviously nobody could have forseen that Apple would let the MBP/MBA fall behind the Skylake race so bad...

Anyway, the problem is that I dont have any other alternative but to keep on waiting. I've been playing with the idea of switching to a Windows machine now that their hardware has caught up with Apple standards of quality (I particularly like the Dell XPS 13" and the Surface Book)... BUT I cant kid myself: I'm chained to OSX because 1) I still find OSX significantly more pleasent to use than Windows 10, and 2) most of my daily applications are OSX only and I dont like the Windows counterparts.

So... yup, as much as I'm VERY ready to update my old MBA 13", I am stuck in the waiting game... probably like most of you :)
