It's true that WWDC was changed into 'useless' event. To me, as a developer, I can hardly find anything positive on what happened last day.

Nothing groundbreaking was released or 'must have', just nitpicking the ******** that no one from developers care (rebranding...), all what they introduced should be left out or presented on Keynote in Sept. To me, as a dev, some 'invisible ink' and 'emojis' is not useful. Whoa, they will be releasing Swift Storyboard! Not useful at all.

The Macbook Pro issue: I think, they will be merging Macbook Air and Macbook Pro into one lineup and leaving 'The Macbook' for those stupid people who will buy it. Macbook Air had a really good price/performance ratio, so why don't they just screw us all again? So 'The Macbook' will be the new 'Macbook Air with Retina' with terrible performance and ridiculous price (Paying 'extra' money for compromise) thus leaving Macbook Air as discontinued product (or we will see one or two more update to MBA lineup but the end is coming). Therefore we will see a thinner Macbook Pro with Skylake, only 4 USB-C ports. so if you need a performance you will have to buy Macbook Pro, if you don't, you will be buying 'The Macbook'.

I wonder if they still will be using 'Pro' and 'Air' in September, because it's no more a difference to them. We may see 'The Macbook' 12" and 13" and 15".

I also expect the update on Mac Pro lineup, since it's using 4-5 yr. old components, due to release of new GPUs from AMD and also Intel CPUs. But if it won't happen, I won't take Apple seriously anymore.

Basically Apple changed their way and is heading for the 'exclusivity' branding (for those stupid and rich guys) and if you are a die hard fan boy, you will pay with your blood to obtain a new Mac. Apple was a cutting-edge technology company, nowadays it's a branding company, like Gucci, that will sell anything old for thousands of dollars and they will be treating you like you are buying a premium product.

After the launch of 'The Macbook' I was like this should never exist in Jobs era so I'm convinced they are pushing the entrepreneurs and power users out, leaving the 'The Macbook' for those who can afford it.

I will be thinking in a year or two to switching to Razer or Dell XPS with linux inside and I won't give a damn anymore.

I'll just take that one question you asked and reply with 'yes'.

http://www.wired.com/2016/04/iphone-sales-decline/
Sales dropped 16 percent in the first quarter of the year—and an even more dramatic 32 percent from the last quarter of 2015.
your comment is really narrow minded.
iphone sales drop when comparing q4 with the next q1 EVERY YEAR. that's because most people buy after release in september.
so what about year over year sales?
here, check by yourself: http://cdn1.dazeinfo.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/01/Apple-iPhone-shipment-Q4-2015.png

It was the only graph I could find. Considering this is a new product launch, you can't really compare it to mature products which make money on upgrades. I really doubt the iPhone sales chart looked so bad at the beginning.
so, all this is based on your doubt.
remember how apple slashed the price of the first iphone of 200 bucks just 2 months after release! (source). i don't usually drop price is a product sells well.

There's nothing really novel about this. MS is doing the same thing and both are playing catchup to "next-gen" file systems found on Linux.

Alot of features of their new APFS are borrowed from the likes of Ext4 and ZFS.

So what?

1. Linux community creates one like every 1-2 years. And it's works across many more devices.
2. Apple promised to create file system for like 10 years if I recall right. So the problem is the same as with Macs - too late to be something good, just mediocre at this time.
3. What is the use for such a filesystem if you don't have access to it on most devices? API compatibility layer is the only thing which is really necessary.
4. It lacks crucial features like Time Machine. So it's like 2-3 more years until it becomes full-fledged product.
5. Considering p. 3 users will not directly benefit from the new file system. Rather they will benefit from the features Apple will be allowed to build on top of it (being the only entity to access it low-level enough). So it's some more time waiting.

As for Programming language I would mostly agree with you. There are some downsides but this is indeed inspiring.

You know, I really just forgot that Apple isn't innovating unless they come out with the exact product that you want to buy at that very moment. Apple could cure cancer, and there would be someone in this thread saying "Who cares about health stuff, I want a Macbook Pro."

And we thought they would announce new laptops in March! This is a sad sad lineup. I wonder why they have such outdated laptops. I can't make sense of it.

Good morning everyone, glad to see that nothing much has changed from yesterday.

Wait, can someone please give more information about this?
No more support for Time Machine back ups?! Really?!

The current information is on Apple's macOS page and choose current limitations - you'll see Time Machine is not currently supported. The wording in the post I responded to sounded like no more supports, but hopefully this is something Apple will fix once macOS is released to the public.

Oh stop this ********. JFYI I am an early adopter of btrfs and ZFS on Linux. I love playing with new file systems as much as the next guy. But still my points about APFS are valid.

Attack the points, not personality.

Also launch for AFPS is set for 2017. So even with it being included in the current beta, it wont ship in fall.

All anyone wanted from MacBook pro, Just update processor and graphics card, change 1 usb to usbc and I'd buy one.
MacBook - don't need that netbook. All they had to do was put that 12 inch retina screen in the 11 Air and change one port to usbc and again a far better and more attractive propistion.
Similar for MacBook Air 13.

Well I doubt they'd release any Macs in September. It's either summer or November. September-October is for iPhones and Watch, they won't let Macs spoil their sales. :(

Come on , they can release the MBP with a watch and phone in October, the contrary would truly be outrageous !

The optimist will say a dedicated event just for the macs maybe end of June or July

The realist will say an event during Summer or end of the year

October is in 4 month. Thats way too late imo. When does College start in the US? Here its like September. I expect mid August release.

Guys, for anyone who understands the production process: If the hinge-production ramp-up rumour was true, what would that mean in terms of release date? I assume they don't keep a 4-month inventory right? (sounds a bit ald-fashioned...) Any clues?

Mid August. They are running their back to school promo to get rid of old stock right now. They won't launch till after that's done. Also, no event for anything till mid September.
I suspect October at the earliest.

They could've just

1. Put in Skylake w/ Iris Pro 580
2. Replace TB2/mini-DP with TB3/USB-C ports
3. Stick in 30 second keynote slide
4. Sell
5. ???
6. PROFIT

Forumers would've complained that Apple is doomed by lacking innovation and dragging onto legacy hideous chunky technologies which are Magsafe, USB-A, HDMI, SD card, & 3.5 mm audio ports, but these rMBPs probably would've sold like hotcakes. Then next year, they can do whatever they want with Kaby Lake, Optane, and whatnot. Sigh..
