I've come here to wait for the SKYLAKE Macbook Pros.
So I want SKYLAKE. Not Kabylake. Non Cannonlake. SKYLAKE.

Why?
Next iteration of Macbook Pro will most likely come with it's own emoji-bar, in galaxy-purple and with a free pair of wayfarers and beat headphones...

It's a little bit sad to me that, when (and if) the next MBP will be released, part of its technologies will be already slightly old.
It's not a big problem, considering this technologies will be anyway top of the lines.
Still, it will feel a little weird.
And it's also a weird marketing move.

So, are we likely to get Kaby Lake now as opposed to Skylake?
Only benefits kaby lake vs skylake has is support of 10-bit color de/encoding but if you will buy next macbook skylake with polaris gpu it will it that support also.

Long time lurker here... but in 2014 the back to school promotion was launched 29 days before they announced the new Macbook Pro.

So it's not beyond the realms of possibility that they could still upgrade the Pro in July.
But was that a silent update with no hardware upgrades? pretty sure it was. They won't launch a Brand new design macbook pro without an event to showcase it.
It makes more sense to update small things and push them out because nobody will notice those details anyway.

Except that references to the OLED bar have only been found in mOS Sierra. Also, the 2014 update was just a spec bump, whereas we now expect a significant upgrade. In 2013, they had a special October event to showcase the move to retina for the 13" MBP. I expect we'll see something similar this year with an October special event (to release mOS Sierra and the new MBP line).

I'm also holding out hope that they actually release it during the 'iPhone event' seeing as this is the first iPhone that won't have a tick-tock cycle of redesign.

Meh, I think the reason Apple stays still is waiting for the new GPUs to arrive. And the Haswell -> Skylake jump is minor tbh.

There is no Pascal/Polaris mobile GPU yet from both NVIDIA and AMD.

There will be on June 29th, and if I was AMD, and wanted to have Apple use them in ~4 million laptops a year, I'd probably give them some early production versions before they're for sale to consumers on the 29th

My mistake, it has been moved now at the bottom of the page...but still there and the cheapest configuration is 1249€
No problem. But why are the Macs even more expensive in Italy? I've checked france, germany and spain and they're all 1449 like the Netherlands (for the base model rMBP).

Taxes in Italy are quite expensive.
In this case, customers must pay an addition of 22% of the regular price.
Example: Regular price of the base MBP 13": 1230 €
22% of 1230 = 270 €
1230+270= 1499 € (so kind, they make even a 1€ discount!)

Just playing devils advocate.

Say I install Windows on my new Skylake MacBook Pro with OLED bar. What controls it then? There must be a default setting in the hardware to setup the basic stuff we currently have on the F keys?

I just read this article on MacRumors frontpage
https://www.macrumors.com/2016/06/16/hardware-free-wwdc-second-half-2016/

Most important part:

So, who's seriously contemplating suicide with me?

It's a ****** situation because we know something big is coming. I've been ready to jump ship from Windows for about a year now so I only have 2 subpar options to find a machine (take a gamble and buy an older model or buy outdated tech for top dollar). Might just buy a 2015 and hope for the best when it comes to resell it. I live in Singapore and the price people are charging for older used models is absurd.
