I don't disagree with your reasoning, because it's clear that Apple is including polaris-compatible drivers in Sierra.

But if we follow the logic to the end, it means that the MBPs are not delayed at all, since we all knew that macOS Sierra is coming out in September, and presumably so did Apple. So basically, it was the plan all along: wait for Polaris, make macOS compatible with it, then ship redesigned MBPs.

The only morons expecting anything else are the ones (like me) who spammed a poor macrumours thread for 740 god forsaken pages while waiting for the redesign. haha!

Truth. Right there!

There is no reason why that would require Sierra, just bundle the polaris driver into an el captain update. Windows doesn't require major updates for new graphic cards either.

I have a few questions I'm hoping you guys could shed light on:

1. Is there a chance the new MBP will be released after October? So, another delay?

2. Will the new laptops be put in at the current price points, or will prices increase?

3. Do they keep enough stock available so that as soon as they're released I can either buy online & ship to store, or buy in-store?

4. If they do go to USB-C, how would I connect the power, a USB for a remote clicker, and a VGA for a projector at the same time?

I have one more:

5. Does anybody else check the front page every day hoping that the new MBP has been introduced or is it just me?
You are not the only one :) Can't want to order it finally ! Who else is going to drop an unboxing video on youtube ? :p

1-2. Nobody knows. Anything is possible.
3. Usually. They aren't iPhones.
4. Well, there won't be one USB-C port. And there are adapters out there with multiple connectors, like C to USB-A and VGA.

1. Rumors point to the fourth quarter (and have been doing so for months). Apple usually doesn't release products in November or December, so an announcement in October, or September (with October availability) sounds realistic.

2. With a new product, prices usually stay the same or increase.

3. Hard to say. If they're announced in September (which I believe they will be, along with new iPhones and possibly Apple Watch 2), then no. If they're announced in October, maybe. With the 12" Retina MacBook, general availability was 2-3 months after the announcement.

4. With this.

I am still curious about Apple products, but the last keynotes/special events did not grab my attention. It is now a celebrity driven and fashion forward business. The recent development in tech has actually driven me away from spectacle of unveilings and updates. Im more like, so what?

As much as I loved the first weeks of switching from a MacBook to an iPad, I am no longer in awe. Its not that I miss the MacBook, its more that I miss a more rigid and updated line of computers. I didnt even watch the special events this year.

I like the visuals from stock Android, but the app market and diverse selection of phones along with a the various software versions and companies approach to looks and feel, make them undesirable.

Macbooks are better than PCs. iPhones better than Android. But in the end by how much?

I agree with you. I use Windows almost daily and in the end it's nearly the same thing. I use almost the same apps on both platforms. It's true, Apple does give you a wow factor but that fades which is fine. I've not been wowed at all on Windows or Android if that means anything. I choose Apple because the hardware feels premium and there's not much lag in the devices compared to others.

The Mac lineup is horrendous right now. I think a lot of us get asked Apple questions and advice, at least I do. I can't in good conscious tell anyone to spend that kind of money on a Mac. There isn't one Mac in the entire lineup that warrants the premium price.

What's currently better than the 13" rMBP?

I can only think of the Surface Book, which is more expensive.

I mean if no Mac is worth its price then what is?

That's a hard question to answer too, because what is "worth it" to one person depends on a number of things (e.g. how much money that person has, what that person needs the laptop for, whether they value portability v. performance, etc.)

I think most people on this forum are waiting to buy the next rMBP because they don't think the current version offers good value and they expect more for the price. Personally, if I'm going to spend the kind of money that a top-of-the-line, premium, technologically-advanced laptop demands, then it better have top-of-the-line, premium, technologically advanced components in it. Otherwise, I'd expect to pay less.

If you're expecting Skylake processors to be much faster, they won't be.

well they should at least 15%. in my render tests today mid-2015 performed only 3-5% vs 4 years old mbp. Well for that price i hope at least 10-15%. when I bought retina and replaced my old one 17" it was blazing fast! nearly twice.

Can someone please give me cliff notes on what's been achieved in this thread to date?

In order of importance:
- Me being drunk
- Kittens
- Me being drunk again
- More kittens
- "Will the next MBP use Kaby Lake?"
- Memes (and more kittens of course)
- "I don't want dGPU"
- "I want dGPU"

plus some suicides, identity crisis, delusions, depression, lost faith in human race.
It's a nice place to be, this.

I am getting a good bargain through work, so now I am out. I am ordering tomorrow. :)
yep, I can't wait. I found a 7 months used 15" 2015 base model for $1400. Jumping on it. Still have warranty, so piece of mind and if I decide to keep it longer I can always get Applecare. I will probably sell it by the time the new one comes out hopefully around September/October.

Not nearly enough Kaby Lakes in that list.
