No. I have the original Jaybird bluebuds X and they are very good. I use them almost every day for working out. So I'd say these are a good pick. You should know that they are releasing an X3 later this year, and just released a pair called Freedom that at least 9to5Mac seemed to like. Amazon's is still a great deal though, and the headphones are a great set.

About the 3.5 mm headphone jack: Yay! it's much easier (...cheaper) to have both the option of Bluetooth and 3.5 mm. Hopefully that leaked chassis is accurate.

About the Jaybird's: Yeah it's a very hard deal to pass them up for $79.99 ($69.99 if you include my gift card), however I find it difficult to justify them when I could just use the same old 3.5 mm type earbuds I've been using my whole life, that don't require being charged.

Because it's typical to hate on something without it being released, or know how it will actually be implemented. Where do you live? This is like one of the ten commandments here on Macrumors. Get with the program.

Hating on people who have a different opinion also seems to be a staple of Macrumors.

The people who like the concept of the OLED touch bar have the same amount of information as everyone else. So it's okay to 'like' the touch bar based on the concepts and rumors, but it's not okay to 'dislike' it? I think there are some legitimate concerns over software and losing physical keys.

Honestly, for my phone, I prefer bluetooth. The convenience that bluetooth brings is just too great. Plus I have an Apple Watch and can pair it with my Jaybird's.

That said, I have a pair of ATH-M50Xs and I love them too. I plug them into my work computer, and will always use them over any other pair of headphones while traveling. Obviously I have to plug these in, but I'm mostly using them for my laptop or 3DS.

So I guess if I'm up and moving around, I prefer bluetooth. If I'm sitting for extended periods, like for travel I prefer my ATH-M50Xs. Though I think if I got the same exact sound quality out of my M50s and they didn't need a wire, I'm not sure I'd care about having a 3.5mm jack ever again.

I see your point, I do however see quite a few people over here and on reddit too posting, asking if they need the 15" Pro or if the 13" would suffice and for a large majority of them I would say even the 12" is enough. Yes, it's not going to be a speed demon, but for most tasks, it's enough. What I'm trying to say is that not everyone who is considering a rMBP is necessarily a "Pro". For a lot of these people, the portability of the rMB would be of a much higher benefit than the pretty small speed increase(at least when you're talking about the rMB vs 13" rMBP).

You don't need to be a "pro" to value speed, productivity in a portable form factor. For me the RMB represents a way too expensive form over function device that just isn't good enough for the things I need, especially not at it's pricetag. Intel's M Line to me is a step up from all the Tablet CPUs but that's about it, i.e. not powerful enough. Also the keyboard on the MB has to be the worst keyboard I've ever typed on you just don't have get a feedback it's like typing on one of those crambed pre Surface Pro 3 keyboards just with a bit more space.

Also I don't want/need an ultra thin device some heavyness isn't bad especially if you fear to drop it.
Apple can push this notebook all they want I have yet to see a reason for his existence other than the "ultra thin" gimmick.

As far as the OLED strip goes, simple: while all the people can say you can't dislike something you havent seen yet...well yes I can because I want my function buttons to be actual physical ones and not having some OLED stuff further draining the battery and only being visible if you hover it or whatever.

If Apple screws the new RMBPs up I guess I'll just buy the current RMBP at a much lower price. But man Apple would have to be really stupid to screw this thing up, the design is fin e just a few improvements, a more tactile keyboard...and they have a winner. Removing the headphone jack would fall into the category of stupid I mean for what? Sure, you can always use bluetooth but sometimes it's nice to just plug your headphone in and not worry about another "low battery" warning.

It's safe to assume that IT personnel are aware of the more intricate components of their devices and would therefore not spend money on something with a 3 year old CPU.
It may be safer the assume the first part of your statement. The second part is you projecting your opinion I think.

Either the strip will permanently display the function icons as we know them, in which case it will be a more power-hungry and less tactile replacement of the physical keys... OR... the function icons will disappear from the strip at times, in order to display other information, in which case we have lost immediate access to volume controls, etc. Seems like a lose-lose proposition to me.
Why is it not possible to keep some or all of the functions on screen while adding new ones? It's a touchscreen. Items can be rearranged in a manner that physical keys can't. Also, let's assume that you're right, and that the function keys disappear to display other functions. Apple could just make it to where you hit fn or shift, or whatever key to bring the function keys back temporarily.

There are two additional possibilities to the two you presented, concocted in the span of a few seconds while reading your post. I imagine Apple has other ideas as well.

Why are so many opposed to the OLED strip? What are the negatives of it? Removing physical function keys?
Because well function keys are integral for what I do. And as I said IF they mess up. I haven't given my decision yet...I'm just telling you my thoughts on where they could possibly mess up. Function keys are integral, and I see this as a gimmick just like 3D Touch. I'll give my final verdict when I see it though.

Hi,
Does anyone know when the new macbook pro is coming out? My 2016 macbook just broke, had to throw it away lol.
Thanks !

I almost want it to be a bigger ass-bite. Not that I want Apple to fail, but I'd like to see them get some real motivation to do something.
exactly this. I want competition to innovate with other products too. So apple will wake up and start making good things again. They can no longer sit back and coast. They did it long enough.
Other companies innovating and selling more = apple doing something again.

I love it. Wonder if Tim and the other execs are confused right now.
they had even more precised information from they retail shops and sales deps long time ago ... so yeah they know how things are look like.

IN 3 months almost everybody will forget about declines and overpriced products

We can start countdown or whatever...

55 days till the end of back to school promotion
62 days till the Keynote (if it will be on the 13 of september)
82 days till sales (if they start on the 3rd of october)

choose your aprox. date to wait :D

I'm optimistic, I choose the keynote.
"And they're shipping... TODAY" or worst case "Preorder today, shipping Friday/Next Week"

I don't know how many people stick with multiple products from Apple because they all work well together but I reckon its a lot. They won't drop their PC division due to declining sales. They are integrating iOS and macOS more tightly as an obvious strategy for a reason.

The number of PCs they sell is still plenty to maintain profitability and I think they could lose a lot of customers and still maintain that. They don't update the hardware often or to the cutting edge and they don't have a lot of different models to support. Even if it was just their professional user base that remained I think they would continue to create Macs.

And it's not just professionals. I've heard from more than one PC users that they'd love to have a Mac but can't afford them. Macs are the Ferraris of computers they said. While that analogy is flawed, Macs are very desirable. And these people don't care about specs or 'Lakes.

Now it'll be different when these kids that only use iPads grow up. If computers that look like today's computers are still around (and I think they'll be), some of those people will need to use them. Do you think they'll use crappy PCs? No they'll use Mac. I believe Apple will always be there with the Mac even if it is not their main focus anymore.

I keep coming back to this forum every now and then since I sold my 2015 15" MBP dGPU because it simply couldn't handle some of the graphics intensive tasks I threw at it - without revving the fans to pretty loud levels and running far too hot for my liking. I got £1400 for it (cost £1999 new). Since then I've gone through numerous Windows laptops, all of them crap compared to the Mac design, they went back. I therefore decided to get an old iMac (non retina), but with the best graphics card, which blows the AMD M370X out the water, its the 780m 4gb (2013 27" iMac). I got that for £800. With the remaining £600, I bought a Skylake Thinkpad T460 off ebay, since it was not needed for a company project, this cost me just over £500. I've been pleasantly surprised at how good the Thinkpad is - great keyboard, screen and durable.

So for less money than I made from selling the MBP I have an iMac that is silent and powerful with a massive screen and laptop that has a better keyboard than the MBP, a matt near enough retina screen which runs silently and is just as durable as the MBP.

My elongated point here is there are alternatives to new, expensive Macs: the old ones, which had the influence of Jobs still fresh in their design philosophy, included hardware and timely releases (not 3 year old graphics cards and processors) and some of the better Windows laptops (I'll admit, there are fewer decent Windows laptops than there should be). The fact that Apple are pushing the rMB so much is telling for me, they have lost their way and people will simply look elsewhere. I also think Samsung have begun to overtake Apple with the S7... I think they are thinking differently, but not everyone is listening.

I don't think they are pushing the rMB as much as people are suggesting. Its just their newest machine and they are naturally trying to sell as many as they can. If you have a PC (rMBP) that has been out for years (effectively) then you are unlikely to improve sales simply by displaying it a bit more on your website especially if you have a pretty new PC you have just released. When the new rMBP is out I think they will be pushing that in the same way.
