They could start the 13" at $1599 and the 15" at $2299 and most of us (including myself) would probably still buy it.

Same here.Same. I mean, I know my MBP is going to be expensive, but I want this to last. I'm getting mine maxed out: 15", fastest quad-core processor offered, 1 TB SSD, 32 GB RAM if offered, best dGPU offered...I want it to be a monster![]()
This is key, especially if Apple decides not to refresh the MBP for a year or two, again. Hoping to get four+ years out of mine.32 GB RAM if offered,
Honestly, I have no idea. I was under the impression that without a dGPU, Skylake couldn't support DP1.3 features, but now I'm not so sure.Is Apple only able to use DP and not eDP? Seems eDP 1.4b is down to be in products late 2016. http://www.vesa.org/featured-articl...rd-1-4-for-mobile-personal-computing-devices/
Are you drunk?I have a crazy idea. What if they MacBooked the iMac? Hear me out.
With everything getting thinner every year, I wonder if we're getting close to a super light and thin iMac. They could bring back the 17" iMac, in the design language of the MacBook (colors and such). Now, it wouldn't be for the airplane/train commuter, but it'd be for the work/home/hotel office type of person. You just need a machine that can move with you a couple of times per week/month, not all the time.
The iMac is an awesome machine. You get better specs all around for a better price, but it's the portability that turns many towards the MacBook offerings, right? On the new 17" iMac, you'd detach and collapse the stand, slide the body into a backpack, and then grab your accessories.
I think I'm on to something.
Choose your next words carefully.Since its been hashed over for so long, isn't Skylake old news now? If Apple releases their flagship laptop (MBP) by the end of the 2016 with just a Skylake chip, won't it be kinda anticlimactic? i.e., boring?
According to Intel ARK, you're right.Honestly, I have no idea. I was under the impression that without a dGPU, Skylake couldn't support DP1.3 features, but now I'm not so sure.

The "new" chips won't be ready till next May at the earliest. For the 15" anyway. Can't change when things come out.Lol, good reply.
Hey, really, I want a new laptop just as bad as the next guy, my aging 2008 MBP is barely hanging in there and like a lot guys I've been waiting semi-patiently for a long, long time. But seriously, the Skylake chip sounded pretty cool many months ago, but by the end of this year, when the 'new' tech comes out for the Christmas sales, will it really be that cool anymore?
When you actually get your MBP and start doing your thing on it, most likely you'll forget about whatever lake was in the machine. Apart from the connections changing (USB-C, TB3, Wireless (stuff?)) it's just 10-20% this way or that way in CPU peak performance.Lol, good reply.

I totaly agree with you. There is no one in here that has proof apple hasnt got a deal with Intel so they could get the new kaby lake chips earlier.
In regard of the bashing one gets in here if one ask about kaby lake, dont care about it. Its only old men that are wanking in their mothers basement. Its just awkward being a dick online. Most of you are polite as hell in real life, but once you get online you are "tough" and rude. Grow up, get a job and be normal.
nobody's bashing you mate. you're just sounding a lot like a troll right now.
So you upgrade for fun, rather than necessity. I wouldn't recommend the current model for an upgrade, but somebody who really needs a new computer should just go ahead and get it because it will work just fine.I upgrade every year with all the options. Yet, even I felt like I was paying too much for older technology LAST year. The fact that Apple is still selling the same hardware in 2016 for the same amount is downright embarrassing.
Well whenever the new MBP arrives it's going to cost a lot if they raised the baseline price for new rMB. I'm just scared that to make enough gap for rMB and rMBP even the tier 1 is gonna be over $1600 :/
I'm a whining? I guess so!
Allot of people ask about kaby lake. People respond with so much hate. Just sick of adults behaving like a 12 year old spoild child - just because they sit a behind a computer screen.
