The MBP 15 top line costs 2,850 dollars in my country. I can buy it at this time for $2,000 thanks to a couple of discounts in one of the stores. Do you think it's worth the buy or should I wait?

Wow, so many conspiracy theories here. It's really informative to know what goes through Timmy's head. I would like to have such powers. Can I has too? plz, my tin foil overlords /s

Tim's thoughts are as follows, I guarantee it: "Mmm, coffee. I wonder how the Olympic watch bands will sell? Yaaas. Such a good move to remove the headphone jack from iPhone 7. That will teach them about what innovation is. Oh! Time to do some good ol' computering!" *whips out an iPad Pro*

You forgot, "we'll save a boat load of money by releasing the skylake MacBook Pros after kaby lake comes out, our dedicated fans "now suckers" will buy anything I design, whether it's old tech or not"

A sucker would be someone who buys a Kaby Lake computer with an inferior processor because they think it's more advanced than a high end Skylake simply because it's a newer generation.

Oh the bashing my wallet will take this fall...

I'll be doing a proper at-home-creative-chamber setup and first and foremost the workhorse will be the new MBP 15" and I'll max all the specs out (luckily I am a student so normally we get 15% off, except back to school when its 10%)- if the prices are like this year I'm looking at cca £2,200 for the MBP...

After that, getting the Magic Mouse and Magic Keyboard, some 2TB external storage for videos, backups etc, then getting a Samsung 27" monitor to get a sexy huuuge (in Trump's voice) image from the MBP.

Now, since the Samsung display I'm after is has only VGA/HDMI input (1920x1080 full hd resolution and 4ms response), how well do you think will the MBP push pixels up there on that full resolution? I know that it's likely for the MBP to have TB3/USB-C so will the HDMI adaptor slow things down or?

That would be a refreshing change from the current release quality of most new Apple products... :)

Apple has always had excessive margins on in house upgrades. Now they are mandatory if you need more than the base models. Clearly Apple feel that they have a monopoly and continue to charge ridiculous price points for basic upgrades, equally Mac`s sales are declining rapidly, nor do I foresee a paradigm shift on Apple`s behalf. So to me the outlook for the Mac is bleak at best.

The passion that brought the Mac into existence has been replaced with corporate greed and general indifference, led by a CEO who openly denounces the personal computer in favour of the iPad. Under the current management team we can only expect to pay more for less, with the Mac playing very much "second fiddle" to iToys.

I seriously question when the sole defining factor is thinner & lighter. One rather expects a Professional/Prosumer notebook to offer the very best in performance & utility. As a result I find it difficult to get exited about the upcoming 2016 models, the less is more paradigm is getting old, I want the MBP to be an effective mobile workstation, meeting my needs & expectations, not a tricked up Air in pink. As time passes Apple is simply becoming less relevant in the PC space.

Ultimately I find it difficult to support a vendor who does not equally prioritise it`s PC business, with Apple the results are clear; a subpar hardware lineup combined with rushed buggy OS releases, add in Apple`s amusing pricing strategy no surprises here that Mac sales are dropping Q on Q. Certainly for me from a business owners perspective Apple is firmly "out the door"...

Great post - spot on! I have been struggling with what to replace both my aging iMac for home and my work laptop and I am having a hard time not looking at other companies for the first time in a long time.

1080p? Every mbp, from like 2006 can do that easily, adapter included

LOL, "full hd"? — you realize 1920x1080 is way lower resolution than the just-discontinued Thunderbolt Display, right? You're going to get a pretty crappy image with that res stretched out to 27", it's going to be anything but sexy. Considering you can run 4K over HDMI on the current MBP, pretty sure you'll be able to push your crappy 1080p display just fine. :)

That statement is pure FACT! Couldn't agree more.
Just lowballing an estimate, Macs make about $25 billion a year. I have doubts that Tim Cook sees that amount revenue and thinks "obstacle."

Very likely a realistic number, equally we can clearly see Apple`s concern with the current Mac hardware presented. What I actually think Apple believes is "these mugs will buy anything we put in front of them, at any price" Before we get into the Intel blame game, there is a lot more to a computer than just the CPU.

$2500 for the 15" RMBP plus tax, iMac`s with 5400 spinners, Mac Mini`s that have been deliberately neutered to push sales of more expensive hardware, Mac Pro not updated in close to 1K days, desktops with near zero upgradability, in-house upgrades purposely designed to scalp the customer. Premium products at premium prices

As they say a picture is worth a thousand words...

Tim Cooks "pipeline" is working out real well for the Mac, and for some who rely on them for business purpose rapidly becoming history, as Apple is chasing the "Facebook crowd" not the serious user. Reality is Mac`s are not selling as they are now grossly over priced, nor do they represent the value they once did...

Why the "Rant" it`s expensive to move multiple businesses to a new platform, and frankly Apple`s indifference totally pisses me off...

Note to Mod`s: Apologies if language offends please edit the word, the rest of the post stands, I am sorry to say.

Sadly many of us have or are going down the same road, thanks to Apple`s arrogance & complete indifference...

Just finished reading this thread from about page 650 something just to have something to do while we wait lol. As a first time Mac buyer I'm very excited :D

Unless you have read every post from page 1, you have not had the right to purchase the new Macbook Pro bestowed upon you by the profit Jobs and his disciples Cook and Ive.
