It's crap because you simply cannot argue against the truth. You liking OS X wasn't the point.

Exactly. We know very well what's the direction they are heading, why come here then? We all know they will make it thinner, they just wont prioritize power over thinness unfortunately. Why put yourself through this? Why not go out and buy from another vendor that will satisfy your expectations. It's masochism really. OS X is too good to leave? Again, sucks to be you.

You shouldn't cease and desist, it's just pointless to wait for something you know won't be able to satisfy you. Like Queen6 always seems to suggest. That's all. Why spend money on something that won't hold up to your standards? You are just setting yourself for disappointment. It's senseless. What truly irks me are the "Vote with your wallet. Jump ship." people. They say that over and over again, why not just do it and stop talking.

No it's crap because it's not the truth; it's your opinion that you're passing off as truth. There's no "truth" that because the laptop won't meet some golden personal standard, which we probably all have, people should buy something else. Me liking OS X was brought up because that is exactly I will not be "jumping ship" which you put forth as the necessary result of the new MBP not meeting perfect standards. I know it's not going to meet my ideal standards, but I can still express what those are and what I'd like to see in a laptop that hasn't come out yet, I.e the purpose of this thread.

I agree that telling people to jump ship in this thread is not helpful, but that's not what I or most of the people expressing desire for a more powerful MacBook are saying. Most of us are here we want an OS X device and as you already said, Apple is the only one that makes them.

And I actually enjoy posting in this thread so there's nothing masochistic about it. But recently hearing rumors that there may be no Skylake MBP is frustrating; I post here because people here understand the frustration.

Lol, im sure you'll be the first in line after apple launches the new rmbp, considering all the moaning and crying you do. doesn't make sense to waste time on company that has lost its focus. So why are you here then?;):)

No I don't think so, Apple has a poor record with 1st Gen MacBook Pro`s, if I was to buy one I would be far more inclined to hold off until Kaby Lake and or 2nd Gen for several reasons.

I am here to discuss the Mac, OS X and what Apple is doing, what am not here for is to gleefully accept whatever Apple churns out and be grateful for it. If that`s your cause go find the "we love Apple" club. You see some of us depend on our hardware for a living and when the chosen vendor pulls stunts like Apple it`s absolutely infuriating as it can and does break workflows, or leave you disadvantaged, have doubt? Go over to the Mac Pro forum and see how happy they are, as for many performance or the lack of it has a direct financial impact, as does subpar software.

You see the problem now is that so many have such low expectations of Apple, all they need to do is knock out something that looks cool with an OS that`s just ok at 80% this is why I suggest the Mac is becoming little more than a Facebook terminal, as that is now Apple`s target audience. Difference is, it`s not subsidised phones, it`s an all up payment of $2K for a decent specified Mac, and the facts stand Mac sales are slowing significantly, while Apple`s smarter competitors are growing.

As for voting with the wallet, we have already moved three businesses off Apple`s platform, with a fourth going directly to Windows, such decisions are not taken lightly. Luckily enough I still retain my three Retina`s from my engineering consultancy, so I will be able to continue to entertain you for several years to come, nor are Mac`s out the question for recreational use in the future, alternativelty you can just hit the "ignore" button and move on, happy that Apple will "always" have your best interests at heart.

On my return trip to Papua New Guinea I will be taking rMBP and more importantly a Windows 10 machine as the primary system. We need to work with what works, not what doesn't, or no longer makes sense.

What do you suggest people that want a mac system to do then? If we jump ship what would be comparable? The majority of us are still here because we don't want to spend that amount of money on old hardware when something new is around the corner.

I don't know what are you guys talking about. I just bought a rMBP 2015 and it works like a charm. This is after I had tested with the dell XPS 15 and the surface pro 4, both maxed out. The macbook is superior than those two in term of building quality, functionality, i.e. amazing trackpad, and MacOS works like bread and butter. I disagree that it is just a terminal for Facebook.

That`s something you can only decide for yourself as Apple either works of you as the individual, in a business context, both or it does not. Apple`s priorities these days are very different; IOS, Services & new product are it`s primary concerns, this obviously has both positive and unfortunately negative implications for the Mac.

Been looking at the 2016 MacBook m7 option... Comparable performance to a 2014 rmbp 13" and light enough to take to uni. Unless there's a 2016 rmbp leak soonish I might jump ship :|

As much as I wanted to love the MacBook 12", the lack of quad core and more RAM made it a short affair. Had it for a year before I sold it. Currently waiting for a 15" and the iPhone 7 Plus/Pro to replace all my devices.

I thought the consensus was that itll most likely be an October event if anything? I keep changing my decision every other day so more than likely ill end up waiting anyway... but its so tempting

nobody knows...Chances of it being launched at the iPhone event or talked about are greater than a October event only macbook pro and possibly iPad imo. they don't need a separate event for either of those two or combined. They've launched new iPads alongside iPhones last two years i believe?
Edit-i guess they did have a mac/ipad event in october2014. So this brings me to apple watch 2. If they launch this alongside the iPhone in september then chances of them launching a redesign macbook plus software and an iPad are slim.

Another thought...we haven't seen any Apple Watch leaks at all, and it might launch along side the iPhone. It's weird how secretive it still is. Meanwhile the iPhone is leaked continuously all year.

Because iPhones are produced earlier and in much greater qualities due to the demand.

I still don't think we will see a new watch until next march/april like the original release. The new software for the watch is a huge upgrade. 2 year upgrade cycle for the watch makes more sense.

Please don't kill me...

In all seriousness.
Intel just started shipping Kaby Lake to major manufacturers. Can we dream this September?

My wallet would be pleased with this.

Nope. Because as it has been said multiple times Kaby Lake CPUs suitable for Macbook Pros are always launched way later. We don't have to kill you. Why don't we just torture you a la Cersei Lannister way to make an example out of you for others....jk
Or Maybe not. Ser Gregor, I request your presence.

Not sure about the Facebook take, but I think a lot of people are reluctant to spend premium money on outdated technology.

In the end, if your rMBP works for you and your wallet, that is the only thing that matters.

Does the machine work? Of course. But you just paid $2000 for 2 year old hardware with a 3-year old design. That's just completely unacceptable for most users.

People think that "i can't afford this" is the same as "it's too expensive".
Yup, I totally can't afford this maxed out rMBP 15" mid-2015 I'm replying you from. Every comment I go to a shop, log in into my account and write a response. It's enraging.

That seems really inconvenient! I would just move into the Apple Store.
