You're joking! I thought the surface book had that weird hinge that took up the middle area. Anyway, my bad. It's just a surface book
Macbook is the new Air.
I'd really, REALLY like my next laptop to be a MBP, but the problem is...Tim thinks the iPad Pro can replace the laptop.
The more I think about that, the more I hope that whatever MBP is coming (sooner or later) isn't thrown together half arsed to please the people who need more than an iPad Pro.
I KNOW!But what could that product be then!

To be honest, I'm mostly with you on this. I want a laptop first and foremost, but if it had tablet like abilities to double as an iPad Pro that would be awesome. I currently use a combination of MBP and iPad Pro to take notes in all my classes depending on situation. iPad Pro for the Math and science classes (Physics) using the Pencil and Mac for the other less symbol based classes. The only reason I don't use paper instead of iPP is because I have issues with writing and the lower friction surface of the iPP helps me write and erase much easier. So yah, I would love to have my Mac function as a tablet with Pencil support so I don't have to lug around both devices with me or switch between the two. Plus the bigger screen and macOS would be a huge benefit for me as I move into college as a CS major. My point is that the iPP has a place in my workflow so I'd love a hybrid of some sort.
For anyone who can type fast, a keyboard and a touchpad are just too good and far superior than anything else out there right now. Even speech recognition. I don't think that it's just a case of being unwilling to change and being too familiar with what has been working for decades. It's really because what's been working for decades hasn't been surpassed yet.
So...ipad Pro, to compete, needs to have a built-in keyboard and touchpad. I agree touching the screen of a laptop is awkward still. The other issue is that ios is still neutered compared to os x. The word processing, any statistical software, any coding software, anything outside of games and the web browser...well, I think that it's still too limiting.
The future of go-anwhere computing is actually the macbook 12, since it has a keyboard built in and a touchpad and runs os x, and it weighs nothing .
So the case would hold CPU, Graphics and ram, and the iPad Pro would hold... CPU, Graphics and ram...?
I mean, as an optional thing instead of a macbook pro, it could actually be a fair idea, but I still don't see Apple doing it.
