Yes. The board of desktop version of P11 - RX 460 has 2+1 phase board which means it is 57W GPU already. Lowering the TDP, and power consumption to lets say 35W will be extremely easy.

When are we expecting Sierra to be released? My memory is bad, but I think sometimes the major OS X and iOS releases are at the same time, and sometimes OS X comes later?

I really do not know how long I can hold out. I need a new computer, but I will not buy anything with Haswell in it at this point. How the hell is Apple even getting them at this point? I thought Intel stopped production pretty quickly after the next generation came out. On a different note, I did pick up the iPad Pro. I like it, but it is definitely not a laptop replacement and the Powerbeats 2 that came with it were the worst headphones I have ever owned. In fact they already died, 3 weeks in. Apple claims it could be from sweat. Damn everyday this company is making me to ditch them, but I used to love their products.

I agree. September is going to be the iPhone release and they will wait until October for MBPs. This is how they have done it in the past.

Well, in the past they didn't leave the entire mac line to die. I think september is a great time for launching a new Macbook Pro. School is back, companies make purchases. Launching Sierra with new features combining the functionality from Apple watch, iphone and the new RMBP...

Still hoping for September. It would make sense. Formal release of iOS 10, macOS 10.12, and then new devices to accompany them, and show off new features. Plus, supposedly there's only one fall event this year. So it's either this or early next year

I think the only clues we have that new macbooks are coming is the new OLED bar coming to the top of the keyboard. However, that was way back in June. Ever since then, it has been very quiet, which is weird.

For those waiting or hoping for a Macbook Pro announcement at the iPhone even in Sept, I think you will be disappointed as this is usually reserved for iPhone and maybe the iPad. After that, I think there is two ways it can go:

1) There is a press conference in October to show off the updated OS and reveal brand new features. With that, new hardware for all. This is what everyone wants.

2) After they announce and show off the new IPhone (and ipad maybe) as well as the new IOS, they bring up someone to talk about MacOS Sierra real quick. This is the option NON of you want as this tells you that no new MBP models are coming before the holidays.

Now being partly outside the Apple word after moving to a Windows laptop with a skylake & GeForce gpu (I still got all my other apple devices and my iMac btw), I really hope Apple give you guys new MBP models w/ skylake this year.

Did we ever get protective case reveals before a major redesign laptop? I don't remember what happened with the 2012 line

I can't recall this ever happening, the aftermarket case scene for MBP is minuscule compared to iPhone (where you can make serious cheddar if your case is one of the first compatible ones out the gate). I mean does anyone other than Speck even make mac cases?

My son is taking part in the Apple summer camp so i have to visit the Apple Store 3x a week. Every time i really have to remind myself to not just buy the 13" rMB with the m7. Must. Stay. Strong.

Yea i don't remember much in terms of cases because you can have a macbook without a case for years and be fine. Opposite for an iPhone with most people. There hasn't been many leaks besides orders/speculation on laptops in apples case. Parts leaks are rare it seems.

Good point mentioning Gruber and his thoughts about last year's September event.
So if there will only be one, plus Kuo saying it will be the most radical change to a MBP, I guess we could get the stage time for last year's Apple TV announcement. Don't think there will be a significant change to ATV this time.

But I am still not convinced. Waiting without a lent mb since Feb.. argh

they should just do an all nighter then... not like people won't watch.
I do not believe sales of the rMBP will be that high after the back to school ends. at that point it will make no sense to get a mac anymore.
so if apple wants to show a good quarter next time they more or less have to release a new macbook pro

I was in an apple store this week waiting for my appointment and this maybe 25-30 year old was buying a 15" mac and had the free headphones out for him. Anybody else feel the urge to tell people that are buying a new mac to wait a month for the new one? I felt bad for him but didn't say anything.
