Well he didn't say yes or no, just a 'I think'.

Exactly. Dalrymple's informed statements are usually a brief/specific quote from elsewhere followed by a solitary "yep" or "nope" confirm/deny straight from his connection at Apple. He also speculates all the time, but those are just educated guesses.

I think this makes sense. New macs are likely waiting for Sierra release. MacOS in recent years has been released late-Sept to late October. So early Sept for iPhones, mid-to-late Oct for Mac is not crazy.

It's just been so long. Though even if it were announced in September it may not have shipped until October.

When it goes to Apple Dalrymple is the best informed journalist, and most reliable.

I think we have to wait to October for next event with computer hardware.

My money is on an Oct event for macOS Sierra along with new MacBooks.

I'm just hoping that they show or offer a pre-order after the iOS event. Maybe a 'one more thing' for old times sake.

Lol, I bet if Steve jobs was here this would have never happened. Steve jobs was all about quality/customer service at premium prices.

Tim Cook is the opposite, he's about high prices with low quality and bad customer service since he failed us by not releasing an update and instead he pushes old stock to college students that need new computers. Most don't even realize that there buying a brand new year and a half old MacBook Pro.

Imagine walking into bestbuy and the sales guy says, this HP computer is 1 1/2 years old and will work for all your needs, the customer is like, "are you f'n joking? Is it 75% off?

I wish Apple customers acted appropriately to the circumstances otherwise we would have had a refresh by now. Tim Cook wins, by taking advantage of loyal fans. It will only last for so long and once they move on I doubt they will ever come back.

I'm actually writing this on my ASUS Zenbook with Windows 10. I sold my 15" rMBP 2012 and rMB 2015 just before WWDC. I'm starting to get used to Windows 10 with a Notebook which is about the same size and weight as the 13" MBP, but I have dGPU (NVIDIA 940), a good keyboard, a nice 1080p IPS screen, but a slightly worse touchpad. I'm really starting to think about jumping ship permanently back to the Window world that I left 6 years ago. Even if Apple updates the MacBook line this year I cannot really trust them. I also have an iPad Pro, and I know for sure that this will never replace a real computer for me.

So maybe in the next Apple event, Apple will release a new ipad pro that can run sierra? Because Apple thinks ipad is a computer, so ipad pro is a pro computer. Maybe they'll call it macPad pro

Haha nice! I actually also got tired of waiting and snatched up two zenbooks recently, one for me and one for my wife. So far it's been real nice, the track pad is Not as precise, but for the most part it feels just as good as my 2011 MacBook pros track pad.

I got lucky with my deals though, snatched them up durring amazons 20% off all wearhouse items (1 time use, but worked on multiple items). I got them for $920 each.

I was planning to buy a MacBook lay Christmas but decided to wait for a refresh and now Apple totally lost out by the way they are doing things now.

This is what I snatched up.

Or maybe there trying to copy Microsoft when they tried to push the tablet Windows with Windows 8 and failed. I bet Tim Cook thinks he can succeed where bill goes failed. Lol

Do they actually sell 2016 MacBook pros and call them 2016? Isn't that false advertising in a sense since they are the same as 2015?

Wow, I don't think I've ever seen the Tim Cook era of Apple summarized so perfectly.

However, regardless of what many pessimists I've seen may say/think on this site, he is not incompetent. The man has degrees in business and engineering. He spent something like a decade at IBM as well.

This is a direction he is choosing to take the company in. He knows exactly what he's doing. That's the worst part for me.
Having met a few people from IBM that 'decade at IBM' sounds more like a minus than a plus...

just an Ad for casual users like our parents (who use emails, browser and MS Word). Remember that Apple has the best marketing ever!!! (good example why they have bought Beats by Dr. Dre back in a day).
They they have macs in their offices everywhere for sure :D.
Macs are coming...

I really think this is the week where we'll get some solid leaks on the new MacBook Pro.

Right guys?

Guys?

The one most important thing I forgot to mention about the Zenbook: I bought mine as a demo model with 128GB SSB for a very good price 1.5 years ago with Windows 8 installed. I upgraded the SSD with a 1TB Samsung 850 EVO and the RAM was also upgradable to 12GB. With Windows 10 this turned out to become a very usable notebook.

My main applications (Lightroom, Office, Matlab, Visual Studio/Xcode) are available on OS X and Windows anyway, and while within an application I don't see a big difference between the alternatives. I miss some conveniences from OS X, but nothing earth shaking.

I get that iOS devices generate more revenue than macs, but isn't that a challenge for Apple?
They should focus on making macOS bigger and better, bring out a large update like yosemite and boost sales.
Sure they can focus on the MacBook, they should. But they mustn't forget to improve the Pro lineup as well.

From the nonsense clickbait source - (and hopefully i wont eat my words in autumn :))

What we should expect from the 2016 model is better performance with Intel's upcoming Kaby Lake processors, a thinner chassis, a new keyboard with the butterfly mechanism and a Force Touch trackpad. The 2016 MacBook Pro will be better than its predecessor, but it is questionable if it is worth waiting.

My money is on October. The Back-to-School event ends September 5th where you get free stuff when you buy a laptop. Apple has a 15 day return policy. So if they announced something early/mid-September, they'd have to deal with all sorts of buyer's remorse and returns with the added complexity of used headphones being returned.

So at the very least they've got to do it by September 20th. But that'll be right in the middle of their iPhone launch period so they won't want to conflict with that. So you're looking at October for an MacBook Pro and iPad event.
