Now I want to play Binding of Isaac! Maybe things won't be that busy at work today...

I didn't thought there were other BoI players here! :D
Well, let's say that right now I hate Tim Cook more than The Bloat...

/turning again to numbers...
Let's assume Apple will update the computer line-up the 16th of september, so 42 days from today...
...this means that
- rMBP will become 481 days old before upgrade
- Mac Mini will become 700 days old before upgrade
- Mac pro will become 1000 days old before upgrade

Isn't it crazy?

My money is on October. The Back-to-School event ends September 5th where you get free stuff when you buy a laptop. Apple has a 15 day return policy. So if they announced something early/mid-September, they'd have to deal with all sorts of buyer's remorse and returns with the added complexity of used headphones being returned.

So at the very least they've got to do it by September 20th. But that'll be right in the middle of their iPhone launch period so they won't want to conflict with that. So you're looking at October for an MacBook Pro and iPad event.

I don't think we'll see iPads and Macs announced at the same event anytime soon. Particularly Mac notebooks. It just doesn't fit with the "iPad is a laptop replacement angle", theres no way they could have Schiller up on stage giving the "desktop class performance" shpiel about an iPad Pro and the introduce new Macs ten minutes later. This is why the Macbook 12" Skylake update wasn't mentioned at the March event I think.

I've played with the 2015 a bit and it feels like it clicks twice. Is it actually vibrating and it feels like a click?
Yes, the vibration makes it feel like a click. The advantage to this is that the user can set different levels of click, sensitivity, the ability to 'click' anywhere, and the user can even enable 'silent clicking'. It's pretty awesome.

I have to admit I was extremely sceptical about that trackpad until I tried it. Now I think it's awesome.

I am really hoping that the upcoming Coffee Lake MBP comes with the ****** rMB keyboard so I won't be tempted to upgrade.

I guess the MacBook Pro has another 300 days since the mini and Mac Pro have been abandoned as well. This is very discouraging. The only way they'd change is if people printed these word on signs and stood in front of Apple stores explaining to people they only sell old tech at premium prices.

Two things..

1. I can pretty much say based on past releases and experience, macbook pro and other mac is waiting on Macos Sierra. They are not going to release mbp before sierra.

2. I am worried about apples reliance on AMD for dgpu! Respectable source tomshardware Link is noting under testing that amd rx480 tdp is double nvidia pascal 1060.

Well I've got my plans for tomorrow.

The one most important thing I forgot to mention about the Zenbook: I bought mine as a demo model with 128GB SSB for a very good price 1.5 years ago with Windows 8 installed. I upgraded the SSD with a 1TB Samsung 850 EVO and the RAM was also upgradable to 12GB. With Windows 10 this turned out to become a very usable notebook.

My main applications (Lightroom, Office, Matlab, Visual Studio/Xcode) are available on OS X and Windows anyway, and while within an application I don't see a big difference between the alternatives. I miss some conveniences from OS X, but nothing earth shaking.

Thats good to know that its lasted you almost 2 years now. Thats the one thing i always loved about apple which is how long the computers lasted. I still have one 2011 macbook pro and the other stopped working a year ago. They lasted me quite a long time and i was happy. Hopeful the zenbook will last at least 4 years.

Right now performance isnt always the best updated tech anymore, its now mostly about faster charger, bigger resolutions, better graphics, and better battery life. I wouldn't touch windows 8, i literally avoided buying a PC for years because of it. I hated that operating system. Windows 10 feels alot like windows 7 and because of that i actually found myself liking it. I have a mac pro 12 core desktop that i use for anything osx related so im good there.

I don't know about that - Apple are masters of spin and launching a refreshed iPad pro alongside the mac line-up underlines the message that it is in the same category - it is a "computer". This isn't that different from Microsoft with their Surface Pro and Surface Book line-ups. While a surface pro can be a laptop replacement it doesn't mean it's logically inconsistent to also offer a laptop (which in the case of the Surface Book can also be a tablet replacement). I personally feel that the iPad campaign is saying

"you only really need an iPad as all you ever need to do is the stuff you normally do on your phone plus the odd essay, jpeg edit, movie and hey, that's socially acceptable as guess what, the iPad is actually a computer!!!!"

rather than

"An iPad is the only computer anyone cool needs so **** off mactards, you're hurting our OI"

Crazy I thought it was a click and a deeper click. Fooled me. Force touch on my Apple Watch doesn't feel like a click like that.
Is the sensitivity setting under trackpad in settings?

I agree. I think we'll see iPads updated en masse in March, no new Pro 12.9 or Mini this fall.

It's also due to your expectations of what a 'click' feels like and the muscle memory from doing it so much.

Also who is Ming?

iPhone, iPads and MacBooks are all computers, the problem with legacy computers like the desktops and laptops, is that they are not widely used anymore. 20% of all americans use their cellular data as the single source of Internet access. Data usage is rising rapidly each year and has been more important than voice for the last five years. The freedom of not having cables or wifi access points is the primary reason to get one of these devices. Not having to have multiple subscriptions, receivers and devices is probably the greatest drive behind the rich and populous Internet that we have today.

As much as I want another MacBook Pro to be released, the future is not looking bright. We already have a very competent MacBook Pro from 2015 that will do 99% of the tasks required of it, but I guess we want new toys with new names more than what is adequate. Still the numbers from content consumption tells us that we are moving away from from laptops and desktops as our primary computers. Most of the content is served to mobile devices. I can buy an iPad with cellular sim slot and get a subscription from a tele company within minutes. On the other hand, if I want access to the Internet on a legacy computer, I am dependent on routers and ISPs, which can take up to 30 days to install.

Computers with a mouse/trackpad and keyboard may be the best overall tool for creating and managing content, but may be too much for those of you that exclusively consume content. Even though you can upload pictures, draw and write moderate amounts of text on a mobile device, there is a limit to how much you can do on devices with less ways to input as well as limited connectivity. As content and it's management becomes more complex, there is certainly a need for a proper computer like a MacBook Pro or Mac Pro. It seems right now that the current offerings are sufficient as far as Apple sees it, and the profits lie in the 99% of the population who consume rather than create.

I guess they are no longer making products for the crazy ones.

I feel like on the watch the software isn't fast enough so it's not fluid like on the Mac. Haven't played enough with a 6s force touch either. Applewatch feels like there's a delay
