Wow. Why on earth would the one be Nigerian? If you hate foreigners, keep it to yourself. Go be sad alone.

It's not to say all scams originate in Nigeria, but there are a huge number that do and it has become somewhat of a comic cliché. Speaking from personal experience, I've had two eBay 'buyers' who tried to scam me and both wanted me to send the products I was selling to Nigeria for a 'friend'.

The type of scam is literally called a "Nigerian 419 Scam." That doesn't imply that the actual perpetrator is an actual Nigerian, though they often are.

So you think Apple is the trusting grandma of home computing fashionable headphones?

Actually, I think Apple just eats a certain percentage of fraud because the loss from fraudsters is outweighed by the goodwill generated by a friendly sales/returns system. That doesn't make fraud/theft morally right. So, it's more like conning grandma out of money but she lets you because she wants you to keep getting it from her rather than from someone who might abuse you.

Windows runs on a ton of different devices too, but the update situation is handled far better.

You are talking about Windows, the desktop OS, or Windows, the mobile OS?

Again, speaking of Windows the mobile OS, they run on different phones but the OS doesnt change much from OEM to OEM, so it's easier to keep updates on point (same for desktop windows in this regard).

The big problem with Android is really the fragmentation. You see LG, Sony, HTC and Samsung, 4 brands whose android UI's look nothing alike.

The experience I had with Apple regarding my 2015 rMBP was actually the opposite – it was purchased fully legally but Apple wouldn't honour the invoice. The seller (small company in the UK) sent me three different invoices, including one from their supplier Currys, and Apple were still like "nah we don't like this one". At the end the seller gave me Applecare for free and I fully expect that if the laptop breaks I will have to get the Genii to honour at least the fact that the laptops premiered in May 2015 so it can't possibly be older than that, not too many delusions that they will accept the June 2016 invoice.

Maybe I should take my old Sennheiser headphones to the Apple Store instead. ;)

So basically, no new info except "confirmation" on the existing info? Regarding the pros at least...

Still exciting to think the new MBPs are coming with TouchID. Between that, the OLED bar, and the auto unlock feature via Apple Watch, I'm as hyped about this new release as when the original rMBP was released. Let's hope the extra time taken will make this unit bug free (not that I had any issues with my 2012 unit).

Soooooo basically .... the time frame we were suspecting?
Hey, it's still exciting.... though in the mean time... my 2010 Macbook's battery just joined the "swole team"... and I would prefer to not invest more money for a replacement or purchase from the current lineup... (stop tempting me MBr!)

So while we wait, I will take up Schiller's challenge and see how long my iPad Pro can function as my daily driver... never know, maybe not taking work home with me will be a nice change :D

I'm getting tired of following apple news. I couldn't care less about iphone 7 leaks. I doubt the new macbooks will be impressive, probably have similar specs to the xps only months too late.

My biggest fear is that they go too far off the deep end - like creating a brand new OS that is like IOS, crippling the pro market for a while. I've been a video editor for 15 years, so basically, I'm worried that they'll release the new MacBooks (and macs) with the OS that is the equivalent to FCPX.

As most know, FCPX was a disaster for its first year, and many shops (including my own) were eagerly awaiting the new release by using outdated software (FCP 7). Once FCPX was released and was at least a year away from being ready for professional use, it kind of messed up all of our plans. So what were we to do? Either wait it out on really old software, switch to Adobe/Avid, or jump in. All three options were less than ideal.

Now that I rely on portability for my career, I really need a top of the line laptop. My 2012 RmBP is still running strong, but at nearly 4 years old it makes me nervous, and I want a secondary machine for rendering, transcoding etc. I don't want to switch to a Windows/Linux computer because I like the way I have everything working right now - changing everything is a bit of a nightmare.

I have simple needs - more power, faster processing, better graphics card, and the option for 32gb of ram. Everything else I can take or leave - OLED bar is kind of cool (but I'm not sure I wouldn't prefer F keys), I don't care about touch ID, I don't really care if it's thinner, or what colour it is.

USB-C is cool, but at the same time it's annoying to carry around adapters - realistically it will be a little while until portable USB-C drives are available that actually can take advantage of the extra speed availability. Most portable thunderbolt drives aren't fast enough to actually require anything beyond USB3.

I wouldn't mind a computer that doesn't burn my legs when it's on my lap for extended periods of time either. Extra screen real estate would be amazing (I'd love for the 17 inch to make a comeback, but not holding my breath).
