The decline of performance in processors for laptops and desktops

Things started to flatten out around 2010. Single thread performance is actually declining, and optimisiation towards specific tasks are the new way to increase performance. More focus on tasks like decoding video, rendering and javascript/browsing experiences. More cores and better integrated graphics instead of higher frequencies.

I have a late 2011. I've been playing d3 @ 800x600, low settings, and the fans are always at max :(
Its been a painful experience. Cant wait to see what the game looks like on high settings.
I die every time from lag and basically 6FPS on my 2008 unibody.
 
If Apple does add an OLED bar I wonder how they will go about the power button? Will it be seperate like the pre-retina mbp's? I do hope they don't make the power button touch only.
