Apple will release the much-anticipated new retina MacBook Pros on Sept. 7

https://themichaelreport.com/2016/0...nticipated-new-retina-macbook-pros-on-sept-7/

It *seems* credible. Any opinions?
Personally I do not think this is credible.
This is due to the 2 months before shipping.
1. Two WEEKS would be expected.
2. Two MONTHS would kill all sale of the current MBP. This is a far too long period.
2a. If there is a two months period before shipping and Apple want to keep selling the current gen. They will have to discount it. And with the back to school just over by then this will not happen as it is a big middle finger to those who just bought

From the same 'quality' website

https://themichaelreport.com/2015/03/04/exclusive-retina-macbook-air-spring-forward/

This website knows 2 things - Jack and his friend ****

Well, that article wasn't far off - the MacBook was announced at that event. In other words he did get the timing right (of course everyone expected the MacBook to be announced at the event, but still).

To be fair Mark Gurman called the Macbook "Macbook Air" when he first reported it. That said that article is from a few days before the event, fairly sure it had been widely reported to be coming at the Spring Forward event.

EDIT: Actually a quick google suggests that some sites were saying that the Retina Macbook was unlikely in the lead up to the Spring forward event.

Hmm this is actually interesting. As far as I can tell, it's one if the only sites I can find that says it was definitively being announced at the Spring forward event.

I dunno. I'll take it with a grain of salt, but could be more credible than initially believed. I'm not worried about calling it the Air. Everyone was calling the 12" Macbook an Air until Apple named it something else.

There's a lot of speculation that it's going to be 7th September for the next event (even if this isn't when MBP will be announced) but has it been confirmed anywhere yet? Or do we have to wait for Apple to announce? I need to book the last few hours of work off to watch and need to know the date!

If it's going to be September 7th, history says we'll get an announcement on August 25th. Until then, it's all speculation.

Gurman follows him, so there has to be some credibility. So now John Gruber and this Michael Young say 9/7. Also, Apple unveiling products months before release has happened before as seen with Mac Pro and Apple Watch.

An early unveiling is smart. It makes even more people hold their money rather than spend it elsewhere. iPhone will fuel the third quarter, with the MBP fueling the fourth.

Kind of aligns with the front page article about Apple planning 3 new iPads for 2017. The only thing that they're not sure of is the iPad mini. Would Apple have an event only for macs in October? What about macs and the iPad mini? It seems too short of an event either way.

Edit: I guess if they had a whole event about watch bands, anything is possible...

Still, it feels a little bit strange having one event for such different products.
Has Apple already done this before?
Also, is september considered Q4? Wasn't Ming Chi Kuo specifically saying "coming Q4"?
Furthermore...
... I honestly don't know if I can bear once again an Apple Event where nothing of interest is presented.
My mental health would be seriously damaged. (more than already is...)

What's the definition of "such different products?" Mac vs everything else? Because Apple TV, Apple Watch, iPad and iPhone all seem to be announced together fairly frequently.

As for Mac and other devices? The most recent MacBook came during Apple Watch's second event.

There isn't much history to look back on, but it's possible to have iPhone and MBP announced together.

Also, point of clarification: I know it's a running joke to say Apple had an event just for watch bands, but I'm starting to think people actually believe that. No, Apple NEVER had an event JUST for watch bands.

The launch date is pretty bad for college students like me. I'm starting my year in September and now I probably have to use a very outdated and barely working MacBook for two months. I would have thought Apple would think about its college customers, who make up a pretty large base of their sales I'm guessing.

Is someone able to see the tweets from this guy? Twitter says he has a few thousands posts but the lists of tweets is empty.

No definition, just I remember some people here (included a mod) saying that usually Apple focus the september event presenting iPhone and iOS.
*I just checked, and indeed Apple never presented a Mac in september, preferring instead october dedicated events.
Anyway it could be a possibility. Maybe (once again...) the invites could hint us something.

Yeah, but Apple did had half an hour of event talking about Bigger Emojis and "We'll teach you how to use iMessage!" .
That seems similarly a joke to me.

I play D3 on the early 2013 13". Of course i have to tune down everything but it works. I just played it on a friends early 2015 13" and you can already enable lots of gfx options and increqse the resolution. The new Macbook which will most likely feature the 540/550 pro is about 50% faster than the 2015 so should be very capable.

Always keep in mind - the higher the stress - the louder the fans. This will not be a silent experience unless you agree to tone down some settings so the laptop stays cool.
I have a late 2011. I've been playing d3 @ 800x600, low settings, and the fans are always at max :(
Its been a painful experience. Cant wait to see what the game looks like on high settings.

Why should the big middle finger stop them they've been giving it to us for a couple of yrs now.

You guys get discounts so why should Tim care.

Assuming apple do launch the new rMBP in the first two weeks of September 2016 - will the prices be about what they are now - but we get a better computer?
Good times around the corner.
thanks
