You are aware they are shipping an iMac with Skylake right?

While Intel's newest Iris Pro Graphics pack plenty of muscle (the Iris Pro Graphics P580 option will be available in Q1 2016), those who need even more beef can opt for the Nvidia Quadro M1000M with 2 GB of GDDR5 memory; that's the same as in the Dell. Apple recently switched to AMD's Radeon R9 M370X, but it also comes with 2GB of GDDR5 memory.
Nice finding. Here's the quote for everyone to read:
I am almost 100% convinced Apple will not by launching anything with Skylake.
I understand the line of buy when you need it but I can't really see Apple leaving the market open for three or so months where punters like me may be tempted by rival products!?!?
Perhaps I'm wrong and this is wishful thinking?
Never. Listen. To. Apple Store. Employees. Regarding. Rumors.A few days ago I spoke to an Apple employee that I have been dealing with for a couple of years and his answer was all over the place. He said it could be January for the anniversary or around summer if Apple skips Skylake due to being late to the party.
I don't have any statistical proof, but I think the Surface Pro/Book may have won (and will win) over many potential Macbook buyers. I can't speak for the majority, but I myself decided on the SP4 for various reasons of which Skylake was a big factor.I just don‘t think switchers are a big concern for Apple at the moment.
I'm really just a general user who's looking for the best quality product (no loyalty to either Windows or Mac). In the past, no comparison between software - Windows was such a pain to use (probably the cause of many premature balding). However, Windows 10 now seems relatively stable and very usable.I am very curious why skylake was a bigger factor in your decision then the fact that the surface is a completely different machine then a rMBP and uses a completely different software stack.
So to answer your question, it isn't really about the performance gain of Skylake but rather the up-to-date factor and timing/availability of the Surface. I really don't want to kick myself for getting the Macbook now only to have it updated in a few months, and I'm sure many buyers will be in my situation this Christmas season.

How can Apple be late to the party with a processor that has not been launched yet?A few days ago I spoke to an Apple employee that I have been dealing with for a couple of years and his answer was all over the place. When pigs fly.Plot twist: the new 15" rMBP gets quad core Broadwell.
I said it before, but I believe that for most people switching to another platform is a much bigger hassle for most than waiting another month or two for an updated model or buying an old one. (You have to figure out how to transfer your data, get the same software or change your licenses, change the format of your external drives etc.) Therefore probably wishful thinking. Which does not mean Apple will not have the MacBooks ready at the same time as the windows guys. I just don‘t think switchers are a big concern for Apple at the moment.
Maybe one could argue the other way around, that people who wait to switch to a mac would rather not switch if no new hardware is not available, but even this I would not believe. Most people do not care anyway.
By the way, has anyone here tried what the response from the Apple store guys is when you ask them new intel chips around the corner? I mean, for sure they have a standard answer for this, maybe not word for word, but in general.

It looks like most people think the new macbook pros are coming Q1. If you had to guess, which month do you think is more likely: January or March? I can wait until early January. If I knew it was March I would go ahead and get the one now.
Could be anytime between then, all depends on when Intel delivers the chips in sufficient quantities. But I think it'll be the earlier side of the quarter.
Though technically the update was 251 days ago since that's when the 13" rMBP was updated.I would guess between late January and end of Februar, just based on what happened so far.
Longest stretch between updates so far was 280 days which would mean late February.
