They already touched the Air in March when the base model was bumped to 8 GB Ram. No Leaks so far whatsoever. No MacBook Air 2016 imo.

Also doesn't make sense for Apple to retain this product line when its key features are essentially replaced by the Retina MacBook: low price point, thin and light, and long battery life.

Yes the parts aren't necessarily new but the assembly process of constructing the new MBP will be on its first iteration. Basic changes like there now being multiple screens to connect and test translates to a protracted assembly process which is likely to be slower than their current model. Sure - some extra connectors and extra system tests for a second screen may not seem like much, but when you extrapolate minor increases in assembly and quality assurance testing on the scale that Apple products are manufactured, you wind up little increases can have big impacts on production capacity.

I absolutely agree, I just wanted to note that just because the MacBook has some kind of OLED bar with drivers does not make it new technology or awesome.

My other problem is Apple's optimized idea of a chipset and its power management.
If Apple goes with AMD, can not really deliver good drivers, has problems with dGPU switching and throttling, I would be really disappointed.

I honestly consider buying a MacBook 12" m5 and wait a few month until the bugs and problems have been identified.
If you recall the very first Retina MBP, it did not take long for the first update.

... and I think Apple is late ... if Lenovo or Dell brings NVIDIA 10x0 GPU's with stable integration, even Apple's great new MacBook lineup will already be old in 12 month.

I need something for macOS Sierra and Xcode 8, but I guess this "something" might not be the very high-end with OLED and Touch-ID that they desperately want to market.

Think about these features very hard and you might agree they are nice, but they do not replace a solid laptop with good hardware. This is where Apple has dropped the ball.

Sorry, Retina MacBook and low price point? I must have missed something. Beside that - i totally agree though.
Then again - look at the 13" classic MacBook Pro, still available. Still same outdated, outrageous price.

Who are we to argue about Apple products with reason and logic ?

How does the polaris gpu stack up against the current macbook pro's(15")? Since it looks like that is what we are getting all I'm concerned about is current vs new

The problem might be the thermal profile and power consumption Apple is aiming for.
They might underclock, throttle and other tricks.

This would make any existing benchmark meaningless.
I worry about that.

Mobile Polaris is not out yet. There are no benchmarks available.
However, power consumption should be lower (35 vs ~50 watts), thus less throttling, processing power could go up (2 vs 1 tflop). This is all if Apple uses the 480M, the only announced mobile Polaris chip so far.

One of the reasons I'm excited about Skylake- The 550 graphics doubles the performance of the 6100 in the current 13" rMBP in some categories and even exceeds the current 15" rMBP's Pro 5200.

What's the hype around invites getting sent? Isnt the main event the only thing worth hyping up for (assuming none of us here are getting an invite).

Dell is offering 200 euros off on their XPS 15 with dedicated gpu 512 gb SSD and 16 gb of ram , it costs 1900 instead of 2100 euros I don't know how if it's a good deal with Katy lake coming out October if last year it's a good indicator (also it doesn't hurt that Intel just showed a lady lake laptop with what looks like a Dell XPS 13 ).

Is it true that laptops only use the dedicated gpu with games or apps like photoshop?

Kaby lake's biggest changes are just native USB 3.1 and better integrated graphics as far as I know

Wouldn't hold my breath for the September event. Here's what I think we'll get:

- iPhone 7 and 7 Plus. Tim Describing how they are the best iPhones ever released. Crowd goes crazy, up until the point where they mention they ditched the headphone jack and an awkward silence forms.

- Apple Watch 2. Yes, they will bring out that guy Kevin again. You know, the one who will be stuttering on stage while presenting his new Mickey Mouse watchfaces for the Apple Watch 2. This is the time where I will flip out and throw my Apple TV remote through the glass of my TV.

- Speaking of Apple TV, they will demo all the new software for the ATV, iPhone and iPad.

- Last but not least, one more thing! Forget about MBPs, here is the upgraded iPad Pro 12.9". It looks exactly the same as the one we introduced last year, but now it has the same display technology we introduced on the 9.7" back in March. Also, you can now pair it with the new international keyboard layouts which we released a month ago! What's a computer?!

Finally, Tim will be back on stage and wrap up the event.

I think this is a brilliant summary! Exactly what I expect for the September event.

and the USB-C /TB3 Skylake MacBook Pro.

And the Web Drivers.
[doublepost=1471709951][/doublepost]Akitio on the scene teasing again, yesterday their eGPU (possibly slated for 2016) flanked by two Skull Canyon NUC , all daisy chained together (2x NUCs probably connected via 10GBe over TB3) Caption says they were running Just Cause at 4k.

I think this will be spot on. If Apple does an MBP event, it will be around October at the earliest I guess. Still enough time to round out bugs and take home the christmas shopping. But honestly I still don't see the need for their OLED bar hopefully it will only be in the highest end models, so that "lesser" ones are still featuring hardware buttons.

I hope for that too, only if the OLED turns out to be a gimmick. Or if that doesnt turn out, I hope they introduce a 14 inch MacBook variant then, which then I further hope maintains the 12 inch MacBook hardware function buttons. I can only hope for now. Hoping should get me through this. HOPING that they actually do release MacBooks.

What worries me the most is the fact that I struggle to find options... Apple is going to release underwhelming iPhones and they forgot how to build computers, that's a fact. Unfortunately, I dislike Microsoft and Google products as well.
This is not looking good... Luckily I can probably go for another year or so with what I have before needing to upgrade, but the future does not look exciting at all.
