MUST WAIT. I can't stand my current ASUS N56VB-S4004H anymore. So many problems, so many returns.
Let's hope Apple will release the new MBP around October otherwise I have to consider a HP Pavilion 15-bc035nd for example.

Intel® Core™ i7-6700HQ (2,6 GHz - 3,5 GHz, 6 MB cache, 4 cores)
FHD IPS
16 GB DDR4-2133 SDRAM (2 x 8 GB)
1TB 7200rpm SATA + 256 GB PCIe® NVMe™ M.2 SSD
NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX 960M (2 GB GDDR5)

€1079,-

Never had a MacBook but would like to have one in the future. So I guess I'll wait a bit more, but Apple makes it hard.

AFAIK Apple received always everything newest as first hardware company. At least it was so in 1980's. Dont know how about nowadays

So where are our Skylakes in January 2016?
Vaios came out in February with Skylake 28W.

My dream working machine si something like this.
https://www.alza.co.uk/msi-gs43vr-6re-phantom-pro-021cz-d4401438.htm
14" body, 2 slots for SSD, incredibly fast graphic card, up to 32GB RAM, all nedeed ports etc. But its only my dream. :-/
Newest 15,4" Macbook will have poor slow graphic card, made by AMD. Polaris 11 gen. Mobile version Radeon RX 460. Why?

Intel Core i7 6700HQ Skylake, 14" LED 1920x1080 IPS anti-glare, 16GB DDR4 RAM, NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 6 GB GDDR5, NVMe SSD 256GB + 1TB 7200 RPM, WiFi 802.11ac, Bluetooth 4.1, HDMI 1.4, mini DisplayPort 1.2, Thunderbolt 3, USB 3.1 Type-C Gen.2 (USB-C), webcam, card reader, SteelSeries backlit keyboard, Windows 10 Home

When you go back to the first post of this thread.
Rumoured, based on the specs from wikipedia:
- 2015 launch
- Chips will use the 14 nm process node. Expect some decent battery life
- Support for DDR4 memory
- Support for PCIe 4.0

I also think that this will be the model where dGPUs and Apple will part ways in notebooks. I don't think we'll see a dedicated GPU, even as a BTO option.

What are your thoughts?

No Apple Stores here. Only official retailers.
Yep, i checked after i made that reply. Retailers (even if they're official) don't help much in terms of evaluating whether new products are coming out or not. Prices at retailers have been fluctuating for the past 9 months :/

The TDP of the 1060 is around 125W. Let's start with that one.

Buy that then.. you won't be getting that from Apple.

I don't know, perhaps but I always thought they waited (for what ever reason). Perhaps my memory has faded a bit, but I remember getting my 2012 rMBP and it was months after Dell already rolled out a model with the same chipset.

Sorry in advance for the long post, but I looked at every MBP and the processors each used then compared their respective release dates. Apple generally releases MBPs within 1-6 months of their respective processor's release, with two major exceptions being the late 2008 MBP (9 months) and the Mid 2015 15'' MBP (10 months).

Assuming similar processors and an October release, the 13'' 2016 will be 13 months late and the 15'' will be 5 months late. That is, unless the 13'' uses Kaby Lake while the 15'' either sticks with Skylake or isn't upgraded until June (ack!).

The data (feel free to pick at it, I don't fully trust my sources but I think it's mostly correct):

***looking at these last ones, I'm starting to think maybe, just maybe, the 13'' could use Kaby Lake-U while the 15'' uses Skylake-HQ???

Why would he think that when we've already, albeit allegedly, seen the body? A tapered body would also most likely mean less room for battery, so I'm curious as to what he meant.

Don't quote me but I THINK he goes into a little more detail on his podcast. I know he talks about Mac rumors for about a good 30 minutes so, its a good listen if you haven't already. Good to see their thought process and listen to them be surprised at some of the stuff Ming Kuo is saying.

Good post- thank you for your research. I wouldn't be surprised if this comes to fruition.

Have the Skylake HQ chips actually been available for 5 months? Is anything else besides the Skull Canyon NUC which came out last month shipping with these chips yet? So you can't call them "5 months late" can you?

Late...r. I originally wrote "late" about a million times but went back and added those 'r's because I thought "late" was more a judgement than a fact. But as for calling it 5 months later than release, I'd say that's fair even if nothing else got those processors. They're ready to come off the assembly line, so the timer started then.

One way or another, Apple and Intel have been way out of sync since the Broadwells/Haswell split last year. But regardless it seems we're close to finally getting our hands on those machines. 2 days until the likely start of Fall Event Season 2016 with the September event invites.

this is random but I thought I might just realistic expectation of what my perfect MacBook Pro would look like:

* released in October 2016

* 13 in screen (same resolution)

* 256gb ssd

* maybe sky lake cpu (lol jk)

* 8gb ram (and $100 upgrade to 16gb)

* obviously new design

* only usb c

* sd card reader

* MagSafe

* 1080p camera

* 12 hour battery life

* $1299

what do you guys want from the next mbp?

Shut up and take my money, this would be perfect! Maybe a bit thinner bezels, that would be welcome but otherwise great.

I don't know about the majority, but I find the new mirror Apple logo on the back of the Macbook screen much more classy and appealing than a plastic-looking white light-up logo. The Microsoft logo is the same on the back of the Surface Pro 4 and it looks amazing.

Kaby Lake-U 3.5 GHz Core i7 with Iris 650 iGPU being tested right now:

https://gfxbench.com/device.jsp?ben...pe=iGPU&hwname=Intel(R)+Iris(TM)+Graphics+650

It was leaked today that Intel will introduce quad-core mobile chips at 15W TDP, but these are HD 620 parts (not Iris), at least initially:

Regarding Kaby Lake performance, we're looking at somewhere around 10% CPU uplift and up to 25% GPU boost in synthetics (as well as HEVC 10-bit hardware decode, VP9 10-bit):
