curious how the skylake-H 4+3e disappeared.
should that tell us something about the lack of new mpb? lol

My wish list:

13.9" Screen Edge to edge bezel

11+ hour battery life

Quad Core finally. (Skylake of course, or Kabylake if possible).

USB C (4 of them).

16gb ram

1.5tb SSD

SD Card reader.

Backlit colorful keyboard.

Possible multitouch touch screen (whatever).

Butterfly keyboard.

Larger improved trackpad.

Retina screen stays the same.

Late...r. I originally wrote "late" about a million times but went back and added those 'r's because I thought "late" was more a judgement than a fact. But as for calling it 5 months later than release, I'd say that's fair even if nothing else got those processors. They're ready to come off the assembly line, so the timer started then.

What makes you think the chips were actually available back in May?

what do you guys want from the next mbp?

15" display, 1 TB SSD, i7 Quad-core processor (I could give a rat's ass what "lake" it is), dGPU, SD card reader would be nice but won't die if not included, at least three USB-C ports, 16 GB or 32 GB of RAM. And super uber-thin, mega-cooled, and costs $1500

"I want everything in one bag. But I don't want the bag to be heavy!"

(Those last three were a joke. Don't care about thinness, given up on cooling, and the price is going to be astronomic, but it is what it is).

Because that's when the mainstream, non-prototype reviews of the Skull Canton NUC started coming out? If you've got a better dating system than that, I'd be glad to hear it!

oh no, please.. ok, here's now how we'll get to page 900 within a week, my best guess:
same footprint as the current ones, but slightly thinner.
3lb for the 14", 4lb for the 16"
higher res. screen: 2880x1800 for 14", 3456x2160 for 16", wider gamut, true tone.
dual core w/ iris 540 (15W) for the 14", quad core w/ iris 580 for the 16",
no dgpu.
256-512gb nvme ssd (2tb bto :eek:)
16gb ram (32gb bto)
butterfly keyboard (with stupidly huge left-right buttons -_-' )
2 usb-c (tb3 enabled), 1-2 usb-a, 3,5mm jack!
magsafe will go, along with sd and hdmi.
the usual battery life.
smaller usb-c chargers.

that would make for some solid laptop, but they could always fill them with silly gadgets like an oled bar, to render bootcamp with windows a pita.

you already have an ipad pro, you don't need a computer!

Since we are all apparently making our BS Christmas wishlists now, I guess I'll throw in what I want:

Really, the route they they took with 2012 MacBooks would be nice, with a final refresh of the old chassis for a year along side the new flagship:

-15" rMBP
-current chassis
-6770HQ
-Iris Pro 580
-16GB
-256GB NVMe SSD
-Thunderbolt Ports get replace with Thunderbolt 3 USB-C; USB A ports remain.
-$1699-$1799

New redesigned flagship can be $1999-$2199

I'd jump on this in a heartbeat.

dual core w/ iris 540 (15W) for the 14", quad core w/ iris 580 for the 16",

So people will benchmark and see 30% cpu performance drop compared to 2015 model? Makes no sense, it will be 28W.

My ideal 15.4" - well aware it's not going to happen under Cook.

Upgradable ssd
Upgradable ram
Mobile nvidia 1080 ( optional)
16gb standard ram
Bluetooth 4.1
750gb ssd

this is random but I thought I might just realistic expectation of what my perfect MacBook Pro would look like:

* released in October 2016

* 13 in screen (same resolution)

* 256gb ssd

* maybe sky lake cpu (lol jk)

* 8gb ram (and $100 upgrade to 16gb)

* obviously new design

* only usb c

* sd card reader

* MagSafe

* 1080p camera

* 12 hour battery life

* $1299

what do you guys want from the next mbp?

* Release asap

* 14-16 inch screen (due to reduced bezel) with 3840X2400 res on 16inch

* True tone display with 100% color gambit like the iPad Pro's

* 256gb for 14 and 512gb for 16 base

* Faster SSD

* Skylake

* 16Gb/32Gb DDR4 ram

* New design with color choices like the MacBook

* 2 thunderbolt 3 ports/1 usb a port.

* MagSafe/smart connector for dedicated safe charging. I don't care which they do just as long as they have something

* 5MP 1080P camera just like the iPhone's

* 10 hour battery life

* Touch ID

* Bigger trackpad

* New designed keyboard like the MacBooks with the individual backlight keys but not with the butterfly mechanism but with the new mechanism that the new Apple keyboard uses to keep good key travel.

* 7000 series aluminum

What are the odds they increase the screen resolution? Don't need 4k necessarily, but 3360x2100 would be nice. 15" that is.
They won't increase the resolution unless the physical screen also increases in size. Higher resolution in the same screen space will start to make text and UI elements uncomfortably small.

I don't think there is any chance of that happening this year, I think they took that route because of the price bump for the Retina models. There won't be a major price bump this year unless the OLED screen is really expensive to manufacture.

The lineup is already too busy. I can see the non-retina 13 being discontinued as well as all of the current Retina Pro models.

The only thing I'm 100% certain on is that the base 13" will be 256GB, the fact that Apple sell a "Pro" laptop with 128GB storage is awful.

None of us know anything though, I'm just throwing ideas out there:apple:

Kaby Lake-U 3.5 GHz Core i7 with Iris 650 iGPU being tested right now:

https://gfxbench.com/device.jsp?benchmark=gfx40&did=35968298&os=Windows&api=gl&hwtype=iGPU&hwname=Intel(R)+Iris(TM)+Graphics+650

It was leaked today that Intel will introduce quad-core mobile chips at 15W TDP, but these are HD 620 parts (not Iris), at least initially:

Regarding Kaby Lake performance, we're looking at somewhere around 10% CPU uplift and up to 25% GPU boost in synthetics (as well as HEVC 10-bit hardware decode, VP9 10-bit):

good find! this is very exciting. I was wondering when the 15 and 28w cpus were going to switch to quad cores

John Gruber: http://daringfireball.net/linked/2016/08/10/gurman-mbp

You know what I just realized? Gruber says, "Interesting. I was expecting a tapered design."

Why would he think that when we've already, albeit allegedly, seen the body? A tapered body would also most likely mean less room for battery, so I'm curious as to what he meant.
When did he say he thought it be tapered? After the case leak?
[doublepost=1472004622][/doublepost]Who else cringes every time the new iPad commercial comes out. The keyboard just gets out of the way... oii
i feel embarrassed for apple for that commercial.

So I was hoping for a miracle and was wishing it would be released by now since school starts next week. I needed a new computer cuz my 2012 mba(base model) probably won't run boot camp or vm ware for revit. Since I needed to install Windows anyways, I was going to try a sp4 or dell xps. Does anyone recommend a store in the us that offers a good return policy? I mainly wanted to stay Mac because of the apple ecosystem and the track pads. But this delay is killing me... I was thinking the Microsoft store but do they offer returns on computers if I open it up and use it for a week or so?

Yes, the Microsoft store's return policy is even better. It's 30 days. I've used and returned a SP4 i7 just two months ago.
