I just did the same
Anyways, my dream machine will have 32GB of RAM. I can't imagine what Apple's going to charge for that upgrade the first year 32GB becomes available.

Mag-Safe, forever.

Definitely Mag-Safe, forever, but besides Mag-Safe, I am just not ready for "have to get a TB3 Hub" or have to get new USB-C cables etc... I got drives, flashes, iDevices, I just got to the point where I have 5 Lightning regular USB cables, for all of my Xcode Development, for all laptops and desktops, I usually roll with 2 Lighting USB plugged in for network game checking, on Xcode, having to unplug and replug sucks, but the only complaint I have with the 2.2 rMBP I am on NOW :) is I would have rather had TWO USB on the Left. But that's the only complaint, except for maybe...what is this HDMI port for? LOL, but yeah I am kinda stuck in old school, I am not NEWHORE...

EDIT:

Oh and as for the Future of this machine, it's easy, I am going to retire my Starbucks MacBook Air 11 (2012), to a certain project, and then this (2015 rMBP) will become my Starbucks Machine. Then the New 2018-19 (2nd Gen) MacBook Pro will move to be the couch daily driver. So I ain't worried really...I mean I justified mine, because I bought a BenQ short throw for $1000, and a iPad Pro for $1000, so yeah more justification but the $1,000 I saved on this one, right now, will be like I paid $500 for each of those, which makes me feel better, I know sounds crazy but retina, by itself, on a mac is worth it's weight in GOLD! and I am coming from a 17" I can read web pages again! without some silly Plug-in(s) to zoom things up, which different ones would fail on 50% of the websites I visited, it was a nightmare, and NOW it's over, crisp clear reading with no buggy site crap ugh

ADD: Oh an one other thing, which I have been over with other people. I plopped down $2800 for a 17" 2011 with added SSD, and that thing crashed, and while I was working it HURT really did. I just couldn't drop $3,200 on a 1st GEN with so much new stuff, it's like eh...I will on a 2nd! and here was a thought, maybe the 2nd GEN will have an all OLED SCREEN to boot!

you should have bought a 2011/2012 15" mbp then.
32gb ram and two ssd's in RAID0, what else do you need?

That's fair. But, I wouldn't choose my machine based on that sole criteria. The newer screen better suits my needs, as does the slightly reduced weight. I travel a good deal. Having a newer machine that, at least in theory, should be more reliable means a lot to me. Not to mention that the 2011 is limited to USB 2.0. I believe the 2015 has a significantly better GPU as well.

Maybe I'm getting old, but the thought of buying an old computer that's had five years of god-knows-what happening around the keyboard doesn't appeal to me either.

No, sometime you gotta look forward.

Not that 16gb is slow on my 2015 15" rMBP but is it even possible to upgrade mine to 32GB or am I maxed?

You are maxed out, and I don't think it ever will be (reasonably) possible. I've read that the earlier non-Retina machines work with two of the new 16GB modules. And I am sure that the future models will eventually be offered with 32GB, if not at release (but who knows?). But our 2012-2015 rMBP's will never - read, never - have more RAM than the great Apple in the sky gave them at birth.

Upgrade friendly machines make for unpredictable consumer purchasing cycles and so are deprecated—according to the bean counters who had the bright idea to soldier in our RAM modules.

The stores here in Greece are selling from today until 29-10-2016 all MacBook pro's with a 12% discount. Which means that at least for Greece there will be no new MBP till November for sure.

Well they could keep the discount for old model even with a new one out.
at least that way they will be able to sell what ever stock remains

How quickly are new MBP models available after announcement usually? I might be switching jobs so I'll need a new MBP and was hoping to get the latest and greatest.

Since Apple no longer makes computers, can someone tell me how to reliably copy and paste in IOS?

Tim doesn't think you should copy paste. That's not a consumers function! And it violates the iOS user terms you agreed to!

Now, why don't you explore some of the cool new emoticons or treat yourself on a brand new watch band!

Going to be fun using my base 2015 12" MacBook for school the first few months while I'm waiting on a top of the line MacBook Pro. That's waiting on a new Mac and waiting on Illustrator to launch.

When was the last time when Apple have had 2 Fall keynotes? And have it been at all, at least once?
2014 for iPad and mac. 2013,2012.
I thought there was someone that said apple doesnt want to have october events anymore? who was that?

sh*t. OKey((( Then we have to wait till Keynote in October, and sales start in November. It is very sad(
Not really. Somebody at Apple told John Gruber last year that they didn't want to hold a separate October event going forward.
So unless plans changed from this last year it should be september with possibly october release but no event. Who knows.
Either way its so close we can taste it

maybe... Maybe because of new the MacOS. It makes not so much sense to release brand new Software and none, at least minor, hardware update as well. I think they realize that. Apple is not stupid

Just like they realize students want to buy them in the summer. I really think there's been a major delay in production and that the MacBook was scheduled for this summer.

I don't think production is the issue. We are not talking about tenth of millions of iPhones.
Apple is just optimizing price and volume.
When Skylake started, most vendors probbaly paid premium to get their devices out first.
Apple can wait because there is no differentiation between Windows Laptops.
If you want OSX and Apple, they can simply make you wait.
... as we all noticed.

Actually I believe Apple used to be one of the first to come out with the new processors. Also this time the wait between two models is much longer than average and everything points to a radical new design that might very well bring issues in production.

I don't know, perhaps but I always thought they waited (for what ever reason). Perhaps my memory has faded a bit, but I remember getting my 2012 rMBP and it was months after Dell already rolled out a model with the same chipset.

John Gruber: http://daringfireball.net/linked/2016/08/10/gurman-mbp
Interesting. I definitely expected them to be announced at the September event, even if they’re not available for sale until late October or early November. That’s what Apple did with the iPad Pro last year. If they’re not announced at the September 7 event, when will they be announced? They could do a smaller event in October, but I was told last year that Apple no longer wanted to do that.

You know what I just realized? Gruber says, "Interesting. I was expecting a tapered design."

Why would he think that when we've already, albeit allegedly, seen the body? A tapered body would also most likely mean less room for battery, so I'm curious as to what he meant.
