One thing of serious note is , if you look at the beta count of macOS Sierra, that things up to beta 8! That's pretty much release time so...2-3 weeks from now could easily be a ship date...

Yeah, that's an excellent point. More hope for a showing next week with delivery later this month to coincide with the release of Sierra!

But then their "upgrade" of Mac Mini in 2014...
Of course I don't think Apple is crazy enough to do that kind of sht to rMBP, but they sure seem to be wanting to kill the Mac line ain't they?

The Mac Mini is an entry level product appealing to a small market... I reckon Apple switched to 28W CPUs to promote the Energy Efficient thing they have going around with their lower tier Macs and to push power users to the (more expensive) iMac.

I don't believe there's any decisive evidence that Apple wants to drop the Mac lineup. They definitely seem to be moving their minor products like the Mac Pro/Mac Mini to longer release cycles, though, probably in response to sales volume.

People buying 15" MBPs need a good CPU to run productivity software like Adobe or FCPX, and no matter how many ****-ups they've done in the past, there is no way that Apple is stupid enough to ignore it's target market. They wouldn't have lasted this long otherwise.

Same here, I obsessed about this for months and convinced myself I HAD to have a MBP. Then I got bored of waiting and bought a used 2015 model. Which I hardly use. But still I keep coming back to this thread.

Maybe it's like mountain climbing. The pain and the anticipation are more gratifying than the view at the top.

Or maybe I'm just an idiot.

Im with Stupid.

Common shortcuts could be interesting, but if they also use it for notifications that could be a rage generator. Imagine pressing what you think is a shortcut just as it gets replaced by a notification, then your screen gets hijacked by safari/email/Horace goes skiing!

Good point, maybe have another OLED screen next to the touchpad for notifications then ;-)

Some more thoughts - I hope the bar will be haptic, perhaps even 3D touch, so it retains some tactile feedback when you press. These virtual keys could even be ribbed for your fingers' pleasure, so you're guided to press the right spot and it can quickly become second nature like your traditional keys.

Personally I don't see that big of an issue with having to look down. If you have your dock in the bottom of your screen, which most people do, the OLED bar will sit maybe 2 cm lower. Your eyes travel much further going back and forth to the menu bar for instance. On the Thinkpads I had before I switched to Mac there were always a few status lights in that location and I found them easy to spot and unobtrusive at the same time.

My main concern is how useful the OLED bar is when you're using an external monitor as your primary screen, or if you use an external keyboard. Then both eyes AND fingers will need to travel uncomfortable distances.

Yeah pretty useless feature for one who connects external monitor and keyboard.

The delusion is strong here :D

If Apple are moving the machines like the Mac Mini and in particular the Mac Pro to longer refresh cycles then that is a mistake when aiming at professional users. The current Mac Pro is almost as big waste of money as the recently deceased Thunderbolt display was at this point. It is so outdated for a computer of that cost that anybody looking at that kind of machine would be mad to buy it. There are better machines out there at much lower prices.

The form factor of the Mac Pro was a mistake from day one, a workstation computer like that needs to be upgradeable to be worth shelling out the cost for, not sat there looking pretty while running out of date and underpowered graphics cards. To a lesser extent the iMacs are the same, they look nice but can you even buy one with a decent GPU?

Apple really shouldn't be letting their notebooks fester they are the only part of the Mac line up that offer any real value for money.

The Dock at the bottom of the screen is such a waste of precious vertical space on a 16:9/16:10 screen. A careless UI choice from Apple to put it at the bottom of the screen by default rather than the sides. If it weren't the default, there wouldn't be many sad people putting the Dock on the bottom without giving it much thought.

But yeah, if your Dock is at the bottom, I guess it wouldn't make too much of a difference to look 2 cm lower.

So I got my hands on a Razer Blade the other day. If that machine ran MacOS, I'd be buying it in a flash. Ironically, it's physical design is almost a complete copy of the MBP. It's got me hoping that we can have an MBP that has decent power and graphics capabilities as well as being thin and light.

Personally I hope it just gives advertisers another screen to litter with their promotional materials.

I'm not saying it's impossible to have the dock in the oled bar, but, how would you drag something to the dock, if the dock were in the oled bar?

Razer just updated the Stealth with Kaby Lake chips, 16gb RAM and improved battery. And this thread marches on.

Oh, and it looks like the Blade now comes with the GTX 1060.

It could still be useful when you're on the go. I use an Apple Bluetooth keyboard/trackpad and TB display when I'm at work or at home. Barely touch my laptop's keyboard/trackpad, but am still intrigued by what they're coming out with. Heck, if it's any good, might upgrade my work/home keyboards to the new OLED ones (assuming they release Bluetooth versions).

Lol, that was my thought as well. Do people really keep it at the bottom!?

It's a bit ironic, but I think this thread gets the closure it deserves by Apple skipping skylake.

That'd be pretty epic. Largest thread on MacRumors, and we didn't even get what we're waiting for. What'd make it implode is if they skipped SkyLake and went to KabyLake 15W for the Pro line. Ugh, I shudder to realize that's even a possibility with Apple these days.

Is there anywhere in the UK where I can try the new Razer Stealth? Looks great to me
[doublepost=1472825289][/doublepost]Oh, forget about it it's only 12.5" the screen. Wanted 15"

It won't go to 15W. More because of GPU performance than CPU performance imo.

Edit: I haz typo
