How long is the event scheduled for? Sony have a gaming show starting 2 hours after that I'm interested in too. If Apple's event runs over 2 hours I'll have to make a choice about which to follow as my crappy internet connection won't serve me 2 streams well at the same time:mad:

2 hours max

The wait is unbearable. I need a laptop for class, and I am going to school in a few weeks. If Apple doesn't announce the pros tomorrow I'm just gonna buy a refurb. Lame

Lately it has been the norm for Mac hardware, yes. Unless it's a press-release spec bump, redesigns of Mac products are generally not available right when they're announced. MacBook, Retina MacBook Pro, and new Mac Pro all had decent wait times from announced > shipping. Only recent exception I can think of is the 27" iMac 5K and the 21" iMac 4K.

Also let's not forget Apple would likely open pre-orders (or give a date for them) if they got announced tomorrow with a shipping date in October, so it's not exactly like they'd be losing out on sales for a month, it'd just be deferred. The "Apple will lose a month of sales" reasoning is a bit weak, IMO.

Guess we'll find out soon enough :)
The retina MacBook Pro did not have a wait time, and the 12" MacBook is a new product. Really the only example of this the Mac Pro.

Ya, feels bad for you studettes. The new MBP should be amazing. I hope they just put all the bells and whistles in it: wide gamut screen, iPad pro sound, taptic engine for the touch bar and pad, thin bezels, etc.!!!

I got this new feeling as I went to Dairy Queen tonight. I am seeing that this might be the first event with a kind of NEW convergence of the OSes, that started with WWDC. I am thinking two events a year, March and September, iOS tvOS and macOS all at each event, discussing the full breadth of features you get with the "Apple Ecosystem" and how your life will just be completely better.

I am seeing this due to the shared clipboard, watch/mac unlock, desktop & documents on all devices in iCloud etc. I think the migration to absolute integration is kinda getting to a complete stage 1 finish, (especially back when the all devices can do phone calls started).

I think they are going to stagger the "ready to order" dates, to always be a week or two after but not more, that will be the iPhone pre-order window, because the iPhone is what now gets people in the Apple Door. So that excitement must be met. Then the Macs and maybe AppleTV stuff will lean towards 3-5 weeks after for pre-ordering.

I'm seeing this...

If no mac is announced tomorrow there will not be a skylake MBP. Apple will just wait it out until Kaby Lake is here and have complete 4K readiness
I expect an October presentation whether that's an event or just a release doesn't matter to me.

Kaby Lake is already available , Razer showed a 4k, 16gig, 1 TB version at pax

But man I so hope Apple has an oled free version, otherwise the blade or xps it is

Bring on the emoji!
Seriously, if they bring on emoji or watch bands I'll freak out.

it's 9/7 already here (7:19am).. does that mean i'm gonna see the event before you guys? if so will update you don't worry
Funniest thing I have seen in this thread since it started.

I think the touch bar is a great idea. Peoples' only complaint is that they have to look down, but fact is, very few people have committed the function row to memory, so they're looking down anyway.

I wonder how they've solved the issue of burn-in though.

honestly I hope nobody is getting their hopes up for a MBP today because this will all be about the iPhone and other mobile first stuff

I'm starting to seriously freak out. Is the event today or tomorrow?

Less than 12 hours to go!

So how are you guys watching the event? Just watching, or watching while twittering and discussing in this thread?

Just watching. I can't have anything else distract me during any Apple event. It's a tradition since the Steve Jobs days. :(

The :apple:Watch 2 will be my first watch so I'm very excited about this event.

Keynote formation is one large window on left side for keynote and on the right, two smaller windows (mr livestream) and this thread.

preorder formation is two windows side by side one with MR the other with the apple store webpage set to reload every minute (once it's close to launch time) with apple store app loaded for contingency.

but lately IDGAF so i might not even tune in lol.

I'm ready for preorder formation, too! Got my Amex card and the login for my student email ready! If Apple does a 'Preorder today', how long does it usually take after the event before the preorder starts?

A lot of companies beg people to buy their goods.
Apple is able to make people to beg them to sell something they think they could need. This is marketing at is best.

Even more, people are greedy enough to order something that is not even tested from a source (...payed by the producer).
