Good News! My laptop must have watched the keynote and realised it won't be replaced any time soon, so the battery has gone back to "Normal"

"Normal" -> "Service Required" -> "No Battery" -> "Normal" in the space of a day.
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I'm curious, maybe someone can shed light on this, but my laptop has a cycle count of 1339 with 80% capacity. Is the health status just random or a function of the way I use my computer (I always run down the battery before recharging)? I see posts like yours with half the life and that leads me to believe it's probably more luck than anything, am I wrong to assume that?

Given that its a bit of a slow news day (every day?) Mac wise, what do we make of that iPhone processor being called "A10 fusion" ?

I wonder what the fusion refers to? Some kind of indicator of future Apple arm computers?
Most likely it's the big.LITTLE configuration they're doing now with the 2 added low-power cores. This is probably the biggest reason why the new one has a decent battery life increase as well. Gonna be real interesting to read the Anandtech review on the new iPhone as they always go into great depth on Apple's ARM designs.

Total guess, but thinking of how the "fusion" drive worked:
You had a smaller SSD for high performance combined with a standard HDD for greater storage volume and lower priority read / writes.

Similarly the A10 "fusion" has two high performance cores, combined with 2 low power / high efficiency cores for tasks of lower intensity.

Ah yes hadn't thought of it like that. Sounds like the most likely explanation. The battery life bump was very welcome hope it actually lives up to Apples claims. 2 hours more on the 4.7. Nice.

So we are waiting on a new pro with last years chip? That's just sad

I am so over comments like this in this thread. Please name all the notebooks you can buy now with the Skylake chip that would go into the 15" pro please and we will take your comment seriously.

However having said this, I would prefer to wait now to Kabylake.......

Intel I7 6700HQ. Runs beautifully in my XPS 15. Absolutely no reason why this chip can't go into the 15" MacBook pro IMO.

If I'm a manufacturer who has already been selling Skylake chips in their laptops for months, often paired with a dGPU so your graphical needs are taken care of (given the specific Skylake chip we're talking about is a Quad-core, so it's for performance-oriented laptops to begin with), why would I then update it later on to the 6770HQ purely just to get better iGPU performance when I'm already selling a product that delivers the same CPU performance as the more expensive 6770HQ would?

In my view it doesn't make financial sense to change it up like that so late in the game when there isn't really going to be much benefit to your customer in the end product by switching.

The apple education store, which tradtionally lists the Apples computer rage at a lower price for students, is down at the moment. Originally I thought it was related to the iPhone releas. But seeing as you can still access all the other store pages include the iPhone. I'm now doubting that. Anyone got any idea why?

Better battery life (while you're running on the iGPU). I'm wagering that's why Apple's been holding off. They love bragging about their all day battery life. Though in reality, their batteries are absolute garbage. My iPhone 6S doesn't hold a charge, randomly dies any where between 20-30% after one year. And my 2012 rMBP doesn't last more then an hour on a fully charged battery. They brag about lasting 1k cycles, but won't cover it under warranty if your battery life is below 80% within 1k cycles (I'm at 72% health after 800 cycles).

I went to check and also the normal italian MBP apple store page (http://www.apple.com/it/shop/goto/macbookpro) shows that image repeating the same phrase in different languages, I did a screen few moments ago (here in italy is 3.14 am)

EDIT: I checked also the normal .com store, it's possible to go to MBP page but clicking on "buy" it shows the same message.

Wow, that sucks. What is a typical day of use for you? Mine lasts me at least 4.5 hours on a bad day and I also have the rMBP mid 2012 15" w/ 650m. Now, since I don't do graphic design for a living (studying Computer Science) I'm on the iGPU most of the time except for some light PhotoShop CS4 and Maya student software in my free time.

Edit: When using Maya I get about 2.5-3 hrs

A wtf, geez guys we just had a huge Keynote, describing wtf was coming yesterday, and a they said midnight tonight they go on pre-order, did anybody pay attention? haha geez Louise...

Or were you all just blind to everything except that big Retina MacBook Pro Black Hole, that is this forum thread?

That wasn't a huge keynote. It was designed to be artificially long to fool people like you :) They took 40 minutes to just show off Pokemon for Watch and Mario. The iPhone presentation took 1 hour because instead of listing what is new in a few slides (which they honestly could have done), they decided to create 10 reasons to like the iPhone 7, taking an hour when it could've been done in 20-30 mins.
[doublepost=1473393421][/doublepost]Oh and also.. Dell XPS 13" with Kaby Lake 15W are almost ready ;)

Mostly web/email/terminal. Nothing CPU intensive.
