Apparently this new technology is compatible with the upcoming MBP if it does end up keeping the headphone jack:

25 page sprint and silence
THat's what I was going to say, but actually it was like a 40 page sprint then cri
@Cincyguy74
Ummm the new Apple wireless technology is Bluetooth. How would they connect to other devices which are already out in the market?
Dont think they use wifi as connection.
From some reading and some insight. I believe that chip might be for 2 main things:

1. Once it pairs to your iPhone, it hits iCloud, and then rummages all (most likely BT4.x) devices. Then instead of directly pairing like old school bluetooth where you could get, with best results, two devices, the W1 chip probably handles freeform switching, with iPhone handshaking.

2. Then two there's probably some APTX or whatever compression protocol that allows them to send "quality compressed audio", with mono/stereo switching in addition.

That's where I would go if I built some headphones.

I've had BT2, BT3, and am getting ready for some BT4.x with W1! I have a feeling it's going to be nice.

From the looks of it, I think there might even be some Beats options with a wrap around your head cable, don't know, but the AirPods are S(l)ICK! That's the only thing besides OS updates I am getting from the Keynote! Because if you think about it, all devices, with the ability to just swap and go and take one out put two in etc etc?! come on that's a dream!

Laters..

MacBook Pro looks like secret press release? on the 20th? that'll be sad...
I honestly find it hard to believe they would do a press release for a completely redesigned laptop with the OLED bar. Incremental updates – sure. But "the most significant update", like Well-Respected Analyst said? That surely deserves its own 10-minute event followed by a 2-hour Taylor Swift performance.

Would love to see a Back to Mac invite with some sort of apple logo (lit, metallic whatever) and a silhouette of one of the current (or future) macs to be updated.

We could easily hit a page a minute shortly thereafter.

That'd be better than youporn.

Great, now I need another support group from sitting through that Sia performance.

Kind of ironic that they were talking about going wireless. How are people with Macbooks going to use those new headphones? The iPhone 7 is coming with a lightning to headphone adapter, so are they going to sell a USB to lightning adapter for Macbook users now? Do they want people to carry around two different sets of headphones or two different adapters? If they were serious about going wireless, they would have included Airpads with the new iPhones.

Nope, Apple is the master of selling people into their ecosystem. The AirPods look ridiculous, but I'll be getting a pair for the simple integration I'll have switching audio between my MacBook and iPhone. They take features away so that they can sell you a solution to fix it! I'll also be picking up the Watch2 (which will include the auto-unlock feature).

So uh, anyone getting the iPhone 7? I'm going to admit I'm pretty excited.

I probably will be getting it :) Normally I get the "S" models but now that their tick-rock phone release schedule may be interrupted, I don't have a problem getting one every year. The iPhone 7 looks pretty sick and I'd like to get the Plus in jet black :D

I am. I'm not that excited... not that I'm not excited at all, but I'm not that excited. My 5 is almost dead. I'd rather wait for a 7s for the smaller form factor, but I needs me a phone.

That said... I'm looking forward to a peppier phone.

But in the end...phones don't get me that excited.

MacBook Pros, on the other hand, do.

I have a 6 so I'm due for an upgrade. I would get the jet black but i'm worried about the fingerprints and scratches!!

Essentially it's this... Provided I had proper scaling and a proper trackpad I would go to Windows, problem is that no one seems to be able to make a trackpad as good as Apple

yep.

Guys we will be getting a Skylake 13" and 15" MacBook Pro this October. Either, apple will just do a press release and release one of those fancy Jony Ive videos what will take about it and the OLED touch bar.

Or Apple will have a small event in October. Invites would go out a week or 2 before that event. Which means the invites for that event could come in early to mid October.

But no October events in 2014, 2015... What makes you think they will go back to doing them again?

2014 had one. 2015 is the only outlier in the past few years. Also, there is plenty to talk about. Introductions at WWDC were met with refreshers in September. Introductions in September can bring refreshers in October (Apple Watch Nike+, iPhone 7 Plus camera functionality). Plus macOS can get a demo on the new hardware.

And why not an event anytime from now ? Like say end September
This delay is so exceptional, anything can happen.
I mean it can happen, but Apple would not want to take any hype away from the iPhone and Apple Watch launch. Therefore they space it out. Also they need time to prepare for the next keynote and will be busy with the launch of several new products.

Given that its a bit of a slow news day (every day?) Mac wise, what do we make of that iPhone processor being called "A10 fusion" ?

I wonder what the fusion refers to? Some kind of indicator of future Apple arm computers?

Yeah but you know what, with the FULL device switching, it's too bad they don't have 15 hour battery life, I know I know, I am just saying, but with noise cancelling and etc, these sound like they could be rigged to be hearing aids, or at least for me I would try to have them in all day, but the problem, which I hope Apple addressed, is that old having a Headphone Plugged in your ear for more than 4 hours PAIN...

I could see that little stage, at Apple they have or something, that they have done before...

The five hour limit to me is fine. Like you said, anything extended is a pain anyway. I've tried dozens of different headphones (in-ear, around-ear, on-ear) and have been unable to find anything comfortable enough to wear for longer then a couple hours. I was initially worried about having to 'charge' them after 5 hours, but the fact that the case is also the charger/battery is ingenious. Really, I just need them a couple hours on my way in to work and a couple hours on my way home from work. At that rate, I can charge the case once per week and it should suffice.

The only remaining question (and only time will tell) is how they hold up under workout conditions (running/exercising).

I was also slightly hesitant on getting a replacement watch (lost mine kayaking), but the auto unlock feature (along with the aforementioned headphones) has me set to pre-order one.
