Will you guys be pre-ordering (if they even do that with MBP's) / buying on day 1 or waiting a week or two to see the reviews?

Waiting a day or three could result in having to wait an additional month or two before it ships, since the original retinas sold out as quickly and didn't have the pent up demand these ones do. I will buy on day one, if it sucks, catches fire or blows up i'll just bring it back to the store.

how does returning work? I've never done this in my life (always researched obsessively before everything I purchase, even a before buying a jimmy johns sandwich). for example, can I unbox the MacBook, use it, and then return it within the return window with no repercussions? what happens if I buy apple care?

yo guys since the new iPhone 7 dropped space grey for the new "black" color. what do you think is the future for colors on MacBooks? if the new MacBook Pro comes out in multiple colors are we going to see a space grey mbp or a black one like the iPhone 7?

I really hope space grey stays though :/
Same, I wish the space gray stays. That color is perfect. It gives it a sharp, modern look that is to be taken seriously without resorting to either black or white(nowadays for electronics and cars, silver), which is overused for almost everything.

Jet black MBP would crazy good looking, even if a fingerprint magnet. Even matte black would look good though.

Classic space grey... hopefully with the iconic apple light on its back and not that matt thing from the 12" mb.

I will be sitting at my computer constantly refreshing apple.com so that I can place my order the exact SECOND it becomes available.

What macbook pros are you guys on?

I have a mid 2010 13 inch and i cant even watch 720 60fps videos on youtube without lagging

Late 2011 15-inch (2.4 i7, 8GB, 6770M, SSD + Optibay). Still runs fine, except I think the GPU is on its way out (video signal likes to drop out sometimes and will just flash on/off, and last week my screen just went full-on garbled on my U2515H). It had acted up to a much lesser extent before, but it almost seems like having to constantly drive 1440p instead of 1080p for a couple months has put a nail in the coffin. Need to bring it to the Genius Bar since they did the extension on it, but I don't want to be without a computer no matter how much my iPad 3 is supposed to suffice.

how much do u guys want to bet that Apple will release the new MacBook Pro redesign with a 1st gen touchID instead of the 2nd gen? I'm like 60 percent sure they will and keep the 2nd gen for next year. smh.

At this point, as the new MacBooks are probably going to come out around October/November, I'm going to hold off until gen 2 next summer with at least Kaby Lake, if not Cannonlake. By the time I get my configuration done, it'll be at least a few weeks after the release date that I'll have the laptop, which could potentially take us near Christmas.

Buying maxed out day one with AppleCare. Cause ... courage ... and stuff.

I looked at my USB 3 topography, and I have 4 USB 3 Hubs, and 4 USB 3 external 2.5 drives, with a few USB 3 flash drives, outside of those nothing else is USB 3. Everything connected to my USB 3 Hubs are all USB 2 devices, a printer, dongles, Logitech Camera, icicle Mic, etc. Nothing except storage devices is USB 3. I think this whole Type-C thing is just way over blown.

The only thing I could think of that was really cool was, the fact you'll most likely be able to use any battery pack with a USB Power out and connect a USB to Type-C connector and charge. THAT'S COOL!

But what else is there, I have thunderbolt dongles for monitors and thunderbolt external drives.

I wouldn't be surprised if Type-C, seeing as how the only connectivity will be Displays, Drives (RAIDs), Phones, and Power, that Thunderbolt 3 just overcomes USB. I mean of those mentioned categories, all but the the Phones would or could be TB3.

There just is no new USB3 type-c devices coming, I guess drives right, but if you had a drive, do thunderbolt? Unless of course confusion with Type-C ports arises where some Type-C is missing Thunderbolt 3, weird.

On an aside note, I did some testing on a USB3 Flash Drive, since I got my New rMBP 15/2015, pretty good results for an always plugged in USB3 flash drive giving an extra 128 GB, added to 256 GB SSD inside:

I love my retina 2015, but I am still so going to get Canon/Coffee, wish you guys the best of luck. I know you'll love your 2016s!

Hey I got some news, if you can only run macOS Sierra on the 2016 rMBP. This is gonna be a shocker:

This is the new App Protection in macOS Sierra, you can no longer do, run App from Anywhere...

sierraWTF.png

This is gonna hurt, hopefully there will be a work-around in the future, like how you can disable-sip

Sorry if this was already talked about...before, if you have link for a fix hit me up...

Pretty sure Apple talked about this in the WWDC keynote real quick. People would set it to all and forget about it leaving their system open. Now when you get an unsigned app it just asks before and you either allow or don't.
