While this is the method I have my Mac configured for, users shouldn't be losing ways of customizing their Mac. It's a slippery slope for Apple to take. It could be seen as an attempt to mimic the walled garden approach as they have with iOS (which is more profitable).
For most people these security measures are useful. For advanced users we know the risks and we know how to deal with macOS.

As long as there is some way I can open them (short of signing the app myself or some hugely complicated procedure) it is probably better to have it on an app-by-app basis rather than a blanket "open everything." I'd prefer both but oh well.

If this thread gets to 1000 pages and Apple releases a Skylake MBP, that is clearly what Apple were waiting for. So we should just spam the Kaby Lake thread to get to 1000 pages too!

:p

This is what happened to me yesterday after trusting an official Apache download mirror.

This thread is still going? I'm amazed - amazed and sad that Apple still has left it's high end customers high and dry while they release v2 of Apple Watch and iPhone 7 sans earphone jacks but with $120 Bluetooth earphones.... What are the people that use Aux in on their car stereos going to do now, buy the $40 Belkin dongle? The best thing about the 7, from what I've heard, is that the camera captures more metadata for better editing.
Apple, ignore your customers at your own peril.

What macbook pros are you guys on?

I have a mid 2010 13 inch and i cant even watch 720 60fps videos on youtube without lagging
I'm on a maxed 2012 mba with i7, the best model apple did afaic. It gives the same or better geek bench score as the current i5 for sale which warms my heart. I can run dota 2 on boot camp in 60+fps, it cooks tho. The battery lasts for about 5 minutes. Ironically the screen was still super bad compared to other options when I bought it 2012 but they still ship it lol. Also I bought it like some weeks before the first generation rmbp came out but I'm kinda happy I dodged that one due to first gen issued it had. Rant over

My 2012 Retina 15" with dedicated graphics, had repeated logic board failures.

Apple replaced it with a brand new mid-15 - the latest 15" model.

The new one takes VERY little provocation for the fans to be kicking in - so whatever they did to the latest models clearly they have programmed the fans to try to keep the board cooler.

Yeah, coming from my 17" to the new 15" I was a little shocked at how the fans kick in...opening photoshop gets em running..is this normal?

Be interesting how this pans out on the new machines if they do get thinner as expected.

What's everyone thinking the price point will be set at?
Will the new units come in at the existing price points and the older models lower?

We still going strong, although I did have to replace the battery once.

I can't believe there are still no mac upgrades. The 16gb ram in my macbook gets used up quickly, looking to upgrade. My wife just got a new 15" thinkpad with skylake, 32gb ram, ssd, for $1700. For what I paid for this macbook I could get a thinkpad with quad core xeon and 64gb ram. Why should I keep using a mac?
