Guys exciting news, I just got off the phone with Tim and in the end of told me: "good bye".

sounds just like a simple greet but in fact it's a hint about the release!

see if you reverse the letters you get "doog eyb" which mean in Swahili "courage mom" which is an obvious hint for the all USB-C macbook pro!

embrace yourself guys - October it is!

Yeah, coming from my 17" to the new 15" I was a little shocked at how the fans kick in...opening photoshop gets em running..is this normal?

Be interesting how this pans out on the new machines if they do get thinner as expected.

Oh how I wish Jony wasn't so hung up on thinness :(. Form and function both matter, but for a professional tool, function is far more important than form.

Found a really interesting article on Quora this morning, discussing the material that will be used in future Apple products:

https://www.quora.com/What-will-the-iPhone-8-be-made-of/answer/Brian-Roemmele?srid=Pi3

Maybe there's a ceramic-bodied MBP in our futures?

4x Harder than Steel (lighter too?) ceramic would be a nice choice.

Get outta here

Why? That person actually contributed to the thread, your comment contributed nothing.

My 2012 rMBP stopped booting yesterday. 10 hours to go on the restore from time machine. Give me courage.

I can't believe how many stories there are of Macs dying after less than 4 years? For the money we are paying for the high end options how is this even happening? Where is the QC? Were you just really hard on it or what? I guess the 3 year Apple care kind of says how long Apple thinks it should last.

I can't believe there are still no mac upgrades. The 16gb ram in my macbook gets used up quickly, looking to upgrade. My wife just got a new 15" thinkpad with skylake, 32gb ram, ssd, for $1700. For what I paid for this macbook I could get a thinkpad with quad core xeon and 64gb ram. Why should I keep using a mac?

Frankly many people who need real actual heavy lifting need a machine more inline with the think pads. Quad xeons and 64gb is exactly the kind of Horsepower I need in a portable form factor... And yet, I can't run OS X or Logic Pro on a thinkpad.. And don't get me started on the issues with MS and Windows because they are legion. I keep looking at Linux too, but that has its own level of nightmare to deal with. And frankly, I'm already heavily tied into the Apple ecosystem. I've been in love with Apple since my ][c. It's hard to leave . Apple has us right where they want us.

This is my risky prediction about what will come out in October:

- MacBook air : Kaby Lake 15w (7200U/7500U , HD 620) with TH3.
- MacBook Pro 13 : Kaby Lake 15w (7200U,7500U , HD 620) with TH3 and keyboard oled.
- MacBook Pro 15 : Skylake 45w ( HD 580) with TH3 and keyboard oled.
- Imac : TH3

Wut. i sincerely hope you're wrong. that 13"MBP looks like an unbuyable POS from where i sit

Think that's very optimistic, it's more like gonna be one of those with skylake

Yeah, a few people in here probably know what you mean by TH3 but me and Google are pretty clueless. All I can see is it's an audio tech... maybe? But you seem to think it's worthy of releasing a whole new iMac for its inclusion alone? iMac already has Skylake so... you sure?

And what exactly do YOU think TH3 is?

I don't think the macbook air is being updated. And it it was it would get the 15W Cpus with Iris. Which does not seem to be available anytime soon.

Also I don't think they will drop the 13" MBP down to a 15W

21.5" iMac could get updated to skylake

For most people these security measures are useful. For advanced users we know the risks and we know how to deal with macOS.

I 100% agree with the idea of having it enabled by default. But what's the point of removing the option to disable it? Those that are not advanced wouldn't know about disabling it anyway, and the rest of us that know what it
This is what happened to me yesterday after trusting an official Apache download mirror.

You must of not heard of the torrent client Transmission. Their site was hacked and a malware infected version of it was made available (Macs versions too). Stuff like this happens regardless of the OS. All I'm seeing is that Windows did it's thing and caught the virus before it could do any damage.

My 2012 Retina 15" with dedicated graphics, had repeated logic board failures.

Apple replaced it with a brand new mid-15 - the latest 15" model.

The new one takes VERY little provocation for the fans to be kicking in - so whatever they did to the latest models clearly they have programmed the fans to try to keep the board cooler.

How'd you get it replaced? AppleCare ended in 2015.

Sorry. TH3 is thunderbolt 3. It enables an external connection of a Gpu.

When sites like Consumer's Reports suggest that based on their surveys that Apple is the most reliable computer brand, are they wrong? Is there better data out there?

According Gurman, so the upgrade to macbook pro and air. He is not wrong

Thunder and Bolt is two words connected to make ThunderBolt - so the correct shortening would be TB3

True. Thank you

I think the MacBook air won't be updated, the future of the notebook line are simply the rMB and the rMBP. If Apple is smart they just make the MacBook air cheaper.

Then get the think pad. As you said it's cheaper and has better specs

I would never go back to Windows personally but if you like it then just do it

Hey I got some news, if you can only run macOS Sierra on the 2016 rMBP. This is gonna be a shocker:

This is the new App Protection in macOS Sierra, you can no longer do, run App from Anywhere...

sierraWTF.png

This is gonna hurt, hopefully there will be a work-around in the future, like how you can disable-sip

Sorry if this was already talked about...before, if you have link for a fix hit me up...

Wow, hope steam & other gaming services are identified developers.

Feels like MacOS is becoming like iOS but with a different UI and a lot more crappier App store.

Good article. But if more likely they will first use it in the iPhone 8. The Xiaomi Mi 5 already uses a ceramic body:

*Aluminium

It wouldn't be the same if Jony Ive didn't pronounce it as such.

I think it is only Americans who don't say 'Aluminium'...... Perhap Canadians also?

Regarding the Surface Pro 4 [and 5 when launched] - if MS ever sort out the poor scaling issue of Win10 then I would seriously consider it. Fantastic hardware and equal to Apple [took MS long enough to get there though].
