Anyone of you thought about using an external GPU like the razer core via TB3 ? Might be a good solution with a 13" MBP or a 15" without dgpu.

If it's possible I will certainly look into it. I think I'm gonna use my current 7970 as a dgpu then.

I'll get the 15" with dGPU. If it's a RX 480M I'll be happy with it for at least 1-2 years. The eGPU enclosures will probably be much cheaper and the GPU:s more powerful by then so I can keep playing the latest games with an eGPU.

Good morning (from North America) my fellow sufferers. One more day closer to the end of days...

I'll skip sierra for a month or so to let all the very bad bugs get sorted. Then I'll install on my iMac and MBP.

6 more pages, ~ 30 more days until our next let down... we rush head first into our demise...

How many of you are getting nostalgic about letting go of your current Mac? I've been through so much with mine that I'm actually considering paying for the new battery and giving it to my daughter. She's in 5th grade and just borrows her mom's Air when she needs it, so I know a maxed out 2012 rMBP is overkill for her.

But I'm just coming to the realization that I don't want to let this baby go :-(

So we had a prediction that we would reach 1000 pages only at the end of October... Wow!

There just isn't anything else going on with Apple at the moment to lure us away. Both iPhone and Watch releases were marginal upgrades at best. Reading around, every single order was shipped ahead of schedule so people don't have to rage in the other threads for very long lol.

I remember last year I was tracking planes for the whereabouts of my incoming Watch!!! This year: well lets just say it's been waiting for me at UPS since yesterday and I'm too lazy to drive the 10min it takes to get there to grab it so may leave it till tomorrow when I'm heading there anyway.

the problem is that they said it will work only via thunderbolt and not via usb-c... i really really hope MBPr won't be an only-usbC device.

That's absolutely not going to happen. It'll support TB3. The question is will all four ports be TB3 or will only two. If they go iGPU only models then it'll have four, otherwise (due to technical reasons) only two will have TB3.

My guess (aka hope) is that they include a dGPU and make the two left ports TB3 (similar to the current rMBP layout) and the right two USB-C only.

Either way, that eGPU will take more then TB3 to work. They'll have a hard time getting drivers and kernel updates installed to make it seamless. They'll need to work closely with Apple to get it to work and I don't think they're big enough for Apple to even roll their eyes at them.

I sold my mid-2015 dgpu model a few months ago and sometimes I miss it :-(

Tough call.. I might have kept a 2015. I sold my 2013 igpu a few weeks ago. Don't really miss it - felt dated.

I would immediately pass my 2015 maxed out model to my wife if that were the case.

I wish... that's next years update. If there's an update this year it will focus more on the design, less on the performance. Next year will be an update for performance, Apple style.

Why would you hope to have both TB3 on the left side? A TB3 on either side would be the best placement IMO.

What if the 2016 MBP follows the same release schedule as the 2012 iMac that featured the new slim design? Though it was announced and released in 2012, supply was constrained and it really started shipping in volume in January 2013. If the new MBP features a dramatic a redesign as has been reported, and pent-up demand scoops up every available unit, we may be waiting awhile to get a new machine even after it's released.

The following needs I actually have for new MBP:
– faster GPU (like, much faster)
– faster CPU (any increase will be welcome)

Basically if I can run Sims 4 on it without the fan turning it into an aeroplane at lowest settings, I will be satisfied enough. It's fast enough for me really. I don't need it to be thinner, to have an OLED bar, etc. I'd like a black one but silver is good enough too. I can come up with some more stuff I would enjoy, but it's all unnecessary really. SSD is fine. Amount of RAM is fine. Photoshop, Reason, Illustrator, InDesign, OpenOffice plus the usual culprits like YouTube or M4A movies are fine, fast enough, I don't have to go get a coffee from nearest Starbucks waiting for Photoshop to resize a file. Battery life can always be improved of course, but it isn't exactly terrible right now. I love the screen and the trackpad is awesome. Just let me play a bloody game that's not even extremely graphically complex without worrying if my CPU will survive that. I've been advised on EA forums to put a cooling pad under the laptop when I have it on my desk. Thanks, Obama! Yeah, the point of having a portable computer is to keep it on your desk with a cooling pad...

What the few rumours suggested so far, though – USB-C only, OLED bar, rMB keyboard – makes me very happy that I snatched the 2015 version really cheap thanks to Brexit. I would almost like the 2016 to be terrible so that I am not tempted to update AGAIN.

PS. When posting diatribes about how a Macbook Pro is not a gaming computer please slow down right before page 1000 so I get to have a landmark post too!

I am sure my wife will do something catastrophic to our 2008 13". Or else give it to our 3-year old and let him pour juice on it.
