I wouldn't expect a new MacBook Pro before fall tbh.

If they do release any hardware in May/June or following WWDC, it will be a 12" MacBook or the 10.5" iPad Pro.

Well historically there has been quite often a 9 month gap between releases from which Apple moved away in the recent cycle. Question is of course if they go back to 9 month in case they can which should be the case with the Kaby Lake CPUs or not. If so we could see new machines in June.

So, the Touch Bar, did anyone ever have any viable use for it or can we hope that's it scratched in future revisions? (Wishful thinking I know)

They wouldn't be brave enough to scratch it. But it wouldn't be too crazy to hope that they'll release TB-less rMBPs of equivalent specs to the TB ones... like with 8% probability.

I don't mind the touch bar, as long as it's optional. I would choose the one without, and save money and battery.
At the rate things are going I'd settle for a 15-inch no touch bar w/o discreet graphics. I don't care about the touch bar and frankly only want the 15 for the larger screen. Plus the price on the 15 is f'n insane right?!

Nobody liked or found useful the touchbar?
Or some people hope for an improved version in the future?

Some people like it, and use it. I'm not going to say the majority love or hate it, but I will say for my usage and understanding its not something that I'll take advantage. I find that I can be more efficient with the keyboard (shortcuts) and mouse. In my testing the touchbar, I found I had to stop, look down, select the appropriate area and press for the desire action. Where as the same result (most of the time) can be done by way of a keyboard shortcut without stopping and looking down. YMMV but imo, I don't find it increasing my efficiency but decreasing it

I could live without a dGPU if that means a more affordable price.

Keep in mind Apple aren't using Iris Pro chips in the 15" MacBook Pro anymore. These at least provided good 2D performance.

I wouldn't recommend a 15" MBP without at least Iris Pro, but I don't think Apple would sell one so crippled anyway.

I'm sure it was posted a few pages back that all the quad-core offerings from Intel rely on a dGPU now.

The only part of the TB that I use consistently is the Touch ID sensor. I wouldn't want another laptop without it, and I'd pay for a keyboard with Touch ID. The rest of the TB I use because I have to (for brightness, for example), However, I haven't done much about customizing it yet. For example, I'd like to be able to use the TB to activate specific brightness settings with a readout of the power draw associated with each.

^I have the same opinion about the TB. I love Touch ID and I can't imagine not having it now (I hope it's brought to the iMac). The rest of the TB, not so much. I haven't found it to be much more than a gimmick.

Well in that case give me a cheaper 15-inch MacBook Pro for crying out loud. W-T-F! This really pisses me off. And the 13-inch isn't any bargain either.

It isn't meant to be a bargain, there are many other laptop choices out there :)

Would not expect any Coffee Lake / Cannonlake before 2018. Maybe end 2017, but I would not bet on it.

Just to be clear

- Coffee Lake is the 8th gen based on 14nm structure. I expect it to be available in 2nd half of 2017
- Cannonlake is the shrink to 10nm and not before 1st half 2018

But to me it is not clear when the mobile chips will be released by intel, hence my question.
