So, they already got the Radeon PRO 560 for the 21.5" iMac, but stick with the 400 series chips for the new MBPs? That would be seriously disappointing. I'm hoping they're at least incorporating the newer chips into the new notebooks, even though they probably won't be noticeably faster than the older ones.

Also, no Apple Pencil support for the trackpad. That was expected, but it's still sad.

Well the MB is my personal laptop, and my MBP is via work.

My wife would be the perfect candidate for a regular MB, even though a MBP costs the same price. She'll never utilize the full power of a MBP, so the 50% less weight will be a more enjoyable experience for her.

Resale value of the MBP would be better than the MP. Its not like the MBP is heavy per se.

I am disappointed by the marginal upgrade in MacBook Air, and a bit confused, is this really it?? Just a lil CPU bump??
The keynote isn't finished yet. I hope they're fooling us, and will introduce a fully refreshed MacBook Air at the end of the keynote lol.

Well I don't know why you need one of each, but leaving that aside, if you have the money are you going to buy the lower spec machine for the tiny bit lighter and quieter that it is ?? Not likely

I own a 12" MB. I didn't purchase it for performance, but for it's portability and it's great battery + the reasons I wrote already that you have quoted.

Hey, I'm no quitter!!

English isn't my native language, so sry for that mistake :(

The Apple Store should be up again shortly. Will be interesting to see whether the €2700 15" MacBook Pro configuration finally gets 512 GB of storage. Feels a little off to get less storage than I got in my €1700 MBP from 2009.

Edit: Damn, they increased the price of the base model 15" to €2800 and kept the storage at 256 GB ...

MacBook Pro 15" now ship with Radeon Pro 555 on the £2,349 model and Radeon Pro 560 on £2,699 model.

SSD are 256GB and 512GB respectively and processors now start at 2.8 quad on the £2,399 and 2.9 on the £2,699.

Both models still maxed out at 16GB ram.

Battery is 76w. Not sure if thats an improvement or not?

Thought the touchbar would get some kind of focus in the next macOS...

But Metal2 and MachineLearning sound interesting.
Metal2 could improve the GPU performance on the MBPs quite much.

They kept USB type A, ethernet, SD card on the iMac...could this mean something for the MBP too? maybe next revision?

Apple's design philosophy is all over the place. The new iPad still has that ugly ring around its camera. No USB C to lightning from the getgo. Apple's MacBook's still don't have any more color configs.

It is the new 560 :) graphics

Yep, that's nice at least. I'll wait for a benchmark or two, but the new higher end €3300 now fits my needs perfectly. Not having to choose a BTO graphics means I'll be able to get that model at a different dealer for maybe close around €3k. I'm very tempted to get that model, actually.

That is a good point. I was looking also the specs wondering... "**** man...."

BUT. They are offering the 560 and 512gb as deffault on the higher one model. So retailers will be
competing on the prices on that one.

Battery capacity is identical to the previous models - so no new design there. I'm guessing High Sierra will bring with it some significant improvements though - so overall may see slightly better performance long term.

Just checked the BTO prices. It's actually cheaper to get the 15" base model and upgrade it to 512 GB SSD and the Radeon PRO 560 by about €150 compared to the higher end base model. That means you're paying effectively €150 for a minor CPU upgrade. That CTO option sound better to me than the higher end stock configuration, however I'll definitely wait for benchmarks before choosing.

Geez - so the 'better value' on the nonTB MBP equals nothing - cost for i5/256GB yesterday £1449, cost for i5/256GB today £1449. Who would want to go back to a 128GB model for the better value?
