Well, so there goes that.

Maybe one day in the far future we will have more RAM and a 15" without the suckbar. Until then... good night!

Just checked the BTO prices. It's actually cheaper to get the 15" base model and upgrade it to 512 GB SSD and the Radeon PRO 560 by about €150 compared to the higher end base model. That means you're paying effectively €150 for a minor CPU upgrade. That CTO option sound better to me than the higher end stock configuration, however I'll definitely wait for benchmarks before choosing.

That is true. But now when i am looking local retailers here (Finland) you can get base model 455, 512GB for 3299€ (This is across the all big retailers here)

Add little bit of competition and the prices will drop even more. (Something to 3000-3200€)

Now the top of the line MBP comes stock with 560 and 512gb. This is the unit that 90% of retailers will sell of the shelf. They are not going to order bunch of customised MBPs.

So, my point is that you might get 2.9ghz/512/460 for cheaper from retailer than customised 2.8/512gb/560 from Apple.

Exactly. The price of the higher end 2016 model dropped to €2650 here in Austria recently, which is significantly cheaper than the €3200 RRP. However, I'm trying to decide whether to wait for retailers to compete in price or just get the CTO option from Apple. Probably waiting a few weeks will be worth it though.

If i order now any 15" MBP i will get it (according to apple website) in:
22 june - 28 june.

guess what i am going to do, lol.

Damn, that was quick! It's still 3 to 5 days in Austria, but I waited 8 years, I can wait a few weeks longer. Don't want to wait another year though, I highly prefer working on a notebook to working on my desktop Mac, and my Core 2 Duo MBP just doesn't cut it anymore.

Yeah but you are living in central europe. I am living in Scandinavia, where Apple probably hires vikings with bicycles to deliver the MBPs to us... It's has always been like this :p

They upped the RAM speed of the 13" nonTB and they made a fake price reduction becaue now it start with 128GB...

MBP line is a mess...no price reduction, no terraced battery (it seems)...

hope they fixed the keyboard...

Here in Italy they even increased the price of the nonTB MBP (256 GB) from 1749 to 1799€

They even increased the price of the MacBook Air, and didn't even build Kaby Lake (or even Skylake) into them ... What's the point of that "upgrade"?

Wait, the only thing they changed is the Kaby lake processors right?

How come in the macbook pro promotional video that *I think hasn't changed since the late 2016 version* says metal oxide backpane. Did the 2016 macbook pro have a IZGO wide gamut screen as well?

Video @ 30 seconds.

So, still no options for non-tb 15" MBP? Price reduction with storage reduction? Nice upgrades :D

Since Apple didn't publish any statistics comparing the Radeon Pro 500 series to the Pro 400 series, I took the comparison of the Pro 560 to the Iris Pro 6200 on the 21,5" iMac website and did the math. Apple claims the Pro 560 to be up to 3x faster in gaming applications, which is ... exactly the number you get when comparing the Pro 460 to the Iris Pro 6200. So, yeah - no progress, I guess.

Urggh, sees headlines of ntbMBP price drop, looks up near top end CTO specs, is confused why it's ~€80 more than this morning, looks at details of ntbMBP price drop, realises it's a spec drop (SSD halved in size to 128GB) and they've bumped the price of upgrades so the price range of this model is now greater (and probably the average selling price too) (at least in UK and Europe). Yay Apple.

I suppose the utter lack of anything resembling fanfare or data for the Radeon 560 means it's just a rebranded 460 with marginal gain?

Yup.
Peak Performance, Compute Units and Memory Bandwidth are almost the same.
1.9 > 1.86 Teraflops, 16/1024, 81 GB/S > 80 GB/S

nothing new to see.
I'm still happy with my 2016 MBP.
The wait for Skylake was far more legendary and funny.

The wait is over. Not much to get excited over it seems. I'm very torn. I'm rocking a 2013 MBP and have been waiting for kaby lake to upgrade. I've been using a 13' without much issue. I've started tinkering with more video editing, though. Given that my current 13in handles it using FCPx... I'm assuming the new one with KL will be even better.

But do I bite the bullet and bump up to quad core with the 15in? I have a feeling the bigness of it would feel a bit much given how accustomed I've grown to the 13in screen.

Anyone have any experience on both and if so, what is your preference and why?
