The TV industry held color TVs in warehouses while pushing out as many back and whites as possible. C'mon Apple, release the 32 gig machines. Everybody else already has them. baby steps are losing your most loyal base.
Im getting stuttering in both video and sound applications as my hard drives chug along and track counts increase. I will be buying external SSDs but will only be able to use them with USB 3 as I wait for the update. I may retire before that.
they wont release a 32 gig this year, sry
these cpus wont support lpddr4, and the max lpddr3 is 16 gigs. they wont use anything but lp ram because of powerconsumption

Considering it‘s only 44 days till WWDC, I‘d highly advise so if you can bear that wait. Judging by the software you said you‘d use, it sounds like the two additional cores and the rumored 30-50% performance increase will definitely be of benefit there.

Regarding the GPU-question: well it‘s pretty certain that the GPU will get some upgrade, but if the mobile Vega chips aren‘t ready in time (and it rather doesn‘t look like they‘ll be), then we‘re only talking about a rebrand of the current dGPUs here. Maybe a 10% or so performance increase but nothing I‘d hold my breath for.

Is it so absolutely set in stone that Apple will never use an Nvidia GPU again? So damn frustrating.

No sign of MBP 2018 coming in June and no sign of Nvidia GPU will be used in the up-coming MBP. Better forget about Apple and go Hackintosh.

No sign of MBP 2018 coming in June
Except that the MBPs had a very regular update cycle in the past that (bigger redesigns like the 2016 one aside) never took longer than one year, and the last MBP being released in June 2017? And except that Intel's 8th gen chips with the respective TDPs for the MBP are announced and being rolled out this and next month already in many other laptops, and that the performance leap this year is much larger than usual which would put Apple way more behind the curve if they wouldn't update the MBPs anytime soon than in any of the previous years? And except that the MacBook Pros are one of the, if not the most popular and well-sold machines in the current Mac lineup?

I mean, maybe you only consider leaks and the like as signs of upcoming products, but I'd consider all of these strong indications that new MBPs are soon to come. In fact I'd be extremely surprised at this point if June passes without an announcement.

Plus, these days Mac are not the big deal to leak anymore...

There's obviously a refresh coming this year, Apple won't stay behind it's competitors just like last time with the Kaby Lake refresh.

we all know what will be released and most likely when it will be released It wont be exciting. Just another laptop.

I gave up building up any anticipation to these launches a few years ago now as they will always disappoint when you have a level of expectation that is different to the policies of Apple. Once you realise these policies and aims you then can understand what to expect.

Those that say they are hoping for something like a workstation, Nvidia, 17" screen, more ports etc are going to be disappointed. Almost guaranteed as this is not what a macbookpro is anymore.

Guys stop bitching about 32GB Ram. Just to put things in perspective.

In the early/ mid 90's a "whopping" 128 megabyte (yes mb not gb) of Ram for a Silicon Graphics workstation cost like $7000!

A $50K SGI machine back then had 1GB of Ram at most.

Now we have 16GB of Ram in a $2K-3K laptop and you can't create Hollywood CG/ VFX and design graphics like they did back then?

lolz

Will just be a spec bump at best, the timeline who knows. Apple simply doesn't prioritise the Mac nor has it done for a long time. I wouldn't be surprised one iota if Apple do absolutely nothing as they are selling the MBP to it's intended target audience nor is performance a serious factor. Apple has already clearly illustrated that it's customers are willing to purchase outdated, less performant hardware. Might just get more excuses and business as usual for Apple...

Only hope of a moderately powerful and dare I say sensible MBP is if press negativity builds and Apple responds as it did with Mac Pro and the upcoming highly "locked down" Mac Pro, other than that "thinner toy's" abound...

Back in the early/mid 90's, your OS could fit on a handfull of 1.44MB floppys. Try that today....

I was looking around and it seems that despite many brands announced/released a coffee lake laptop, you can't really buy any of these coffee laptops yet. The new Dell XPS is not even on the Dell website! I was also not able to find any of newer laptops in any of the online shops in Europe. Does anyone knows about an actually shipping model?

If the CPUs are not shipping yet, then it makes perfect sense that Apple hasn't announced any new MBPs yet. I'd expect full next day availability...

Did they stay behind though? I mean, 2 months delay is not too bad...

Yes. This goes back to 2008? (I think) When Apple used the Nvidia 8600M GT in the MacBook Pro, which lead to a staggering rate of defective logicboards. This was a dispute which got settled in court. Apple said all this was Nvidias fault, which they denied. To this day Apple and Nvidia are suing eachother, and in Apples mind Nvidia still owes them millions of dollars. Apple is not going to work with Nvidia again.

Yes the cpus have been shipping for a while, and laptops became available april 16th.
(https://us.msi.com/Laptop/GS65-Stealth-Thin-Intel-8th-Gen.html) I found this one available in my local electronics shop in Norway with the Intel Core i7-8750H.
BUT I still agree with you, Apple is not "behind" any more than they usually are. They are never the first to announce a refresh after a new cpu release, so calm the f**k down everyone.

I checked some online retailers in Germany — availability end of May. Seems like there is a volume problem after all. Maybe someone buying out the chips behind the PC makers backs? (wink wink)

Okay there aren't many laptops that have made me turn my head from Apple, but that is one good looking machine!

Only really new notebook hardware I've personally seen is the AMD 8 Core Ryzen, have been told that the Intel 6 core notebooks are imminent, equally yet to see one first hand. As for Apple, they will just do as they please, as they always do :)

Wrong! The Apple Pencil isn’t a stylus it’s a Pencil used for colouring in drawing and taking notes it’s not meant to be used as a stylus to navigate around the iPad and so on. Also the toaster merging with a refrigerator reference is also wrong, Tim was talking about the Surface type of device (ie a computer OS in a tablet form) the iPad Pro is a more professional version of the iPad it’s not got a desktop OS crammed into a tablet style device.

You might have a point about the stylus/Apple Pencil comparison - even though since Steve Jobs' famous words several years have passed, and he's passed away too, and the company has a different management etc.
About the toaster/refrigerator metaphor, though, I agree with Dave245 up here.
Then, of course, no one can predict the future and maybe in 10 years we will see iOS and MacOS eventually merge... maybe with A-chips, who knows... For the foreseeable future, though, I'm quite confident :)

6 weeks until we know anything for sure. I hope they upgrade the MacBook and the MacBook Pro lines at the same time.
Yeah, I'm sitting on the fence waiting. While the new battery my 2012 received gave it a new life, its time for a new laptop
