I never thought about it... but all of a sudden it kinda hit me.

I was previously complaining that the MacBook Pro has had 16GB RAM max since 2011.
The other thing... and that is a new thought... and it really pisses me off:

The entry-level... FANLESS super mega NON-PRO MacBook... can also be bought with 16GB.
Sure the CPU is different as is the GPU... but srsly. It really shouldn't be like this.
No matter how you define "Pro" users... but... just wow.

i think you're over-thinking things here. Turn it around, don't complain that the MBP can only have 16GB, but what a great option for the MacBook to have 16GB.

It seems that that so many people demand > 16GB of ram, but many of them when pressed say they only use apps that really don't leverage the ram. I'm not saying you, but it seems that people are upset that apple doesn't offer it, rather needing it for themselves. I think people forget that this isn't the days before os x and lack of ram would stop programs from loading or worse, crash the system. If a program needs more ram, it will just swap it out to disk.

Haha no worries. I mean. I sometimes here say REALLY controversial stuff... so even IF you directly attacked me I'd deserve this! I NEED to get some flak every now and then.

Me PERSONALLY I would really benefit from this.

Others... I don't know... but I guess they are still pissed that the MBP has gotten a price hike. While keeping the RAM at levels from 2011. While some competitors (Dell with their XPS 15 for example, not the 2in1 they just showed off, but the real one) manage to have good designs, with all the ports you need, and 32GB of RAM, for a LOWER price. I'd totally buy one of these... if it weren't for Windows... I am telling you.

So, in regard of that link. Wich one of these will be in the macbook pro 15 inch?

None. This is only about Desktop CPUs. It doesn't even list 45W H-class CPUs. Which are the ones for the 15" MBP.

Thank you so much for your feedback.

I read somewhere that Intel was going to release more information on other coffee lake ships q1 2018. Do you recon there will be released chips for the macbook pro 2018?

Like Theral said, this roadmap shows only desktop CPUs, and it's not even very specific in that. There's a new 65W desktop i5-8500 rumored, so this roadmap might be incomplete / not detailed enough even for what it's supposed to show.

Thanks! Why all the fuzz/panic in this thread, if intel most likly will release more information on other coffee lake ships q1 2018, that we think will fit the macbook pro 15 inch good?

I guess that's because Intel isn't a very reliable lately. If there was no pressure from AMD, I'm pretty sure we'd look at another 5% performance increase this year. And the delays in their schedule are just insane. I really hope they won't force Apple to update the MacBook Pro line later than necessary.

Thanks true. But there is tons of pressure from AMD, and we got rumors that state more details will come q1 2018.

I am looking to buy a 15 inch macbook pro with the latest cpu. I have a 2017 kaby lake, but tons of problems with the keyboard, so will try to upgrade again.

Just trying to figure out if there are any rumors stating that intel would not release a new coffe lake chip for the 15 inch macbook pro or not.

Not a lot of rumors around, apart from some media videos on YouTube where the commentator wasn't allowed to answer the question which CPU powers some notebooks.

But that doesn't have to mean a whole lot – Intel announced the current 15W CPUs out of the blue too, and they were available just weeks after the announcement.

So, in regard of that link. Wich one of these will be in the macbook pro 15 inch?

Nice Link much appreciate. Here 2things we know.

#1. Sadly none of those CPU out now have support for HDMI 2.1 so my Gaming rig will have to wait.
#2. Apple won’t update to 6 Core SKUs in 2018 just Low Power versions.

Best way to spend the next 13 Months. Cheap i5 8600K And AMD Vega 56 to stay below $800 that’s what I’m doing.

Based on currency recovery alone since the hikes in 2016, in the UK we should see a price drop in the region of 10-20% this year as a base 15” MacBook is about £250 more expensive in the UK, including taxes.

Apple will no doubt eat the extra profit though!

$1 is currently about £0.72, so going with a base 15" TB pro would work out as:
$2,399 -> £1,727
Then plus 20% VAT brings us to £2,072 'fair pricing'
... and they're still charging £2,349...

They'll do a price drop for all regions - but UK won't get its pricing adjusted... So it will be lower than it was before but not as low as it should be.

:D ............ :(

No tvs, macs etc will have hdmi 2.1 this year. 2.1 will come in 2019.

What do you mean by apple wong update to 6 core? Apple will, most likly, update to coffe lake for macbook pro 13 and 15 inch this summer or late 2018.

John Lewis are currently selling the 15” for £2149, non promo price and with two year warranty. That suggests retailers may already be seeing some currency swing with wholesale prices.

But I think you’re right, Apple probably won’t pass on all the currency savings just yet as there is still a lot of uncertainty in the £ because of Brexit. But £2149 would make a much more attractive entry price!

The warranty period is much longer than one year in the UK—that must be priced in, it’s not free. It’s something like five or six years.

Not quite. Warranty is still only 12 months standard on most products (though some retailers may offer you more).

After that, you may be eligible for a partial refund (usually a depreciation of the original value) if YOU can prove the product didn’t last because it wasn’t designed to last. There are plenty of loopholes though and a fair few exclusions hence why extended warranties and covers are still sold and very popular.

Yeah I can see them maybe going to an £100 discount on the USD price (from the current £50) and perhaps a hundred off the USD base price? That’d leave us at £2,199 which is coming back into touch with reality at least - Christmas time sales might even get it back to £1,999 - which is what the dGPU 2015 was going for before the price increase and exchange rate drop (albeit with 512gb SSD for the money)

It is complicated, but afaik it is a full refund, not a partial refund. Also, the consumer has the right to a full refund after only one repair or replacement, should the item require a second repair.

Why would you think that? 8th generation 6-core mobile 45W chips just got leaked. The 7th generation 45W chips were introduced Q1 2017, so it seems Intel is right on track to introduce the next generation one year later. I would be very surprised if we don't see updated Macbooks by WWDC.

This link explains it pretty well. Legally, you’re actually only entitled to a full refund in the first 30 days. After that, it’s partial or full at the retailers discretion. Most retailers extend this to the first 12 months by their own choice but quite a few will insist on replacement or credit note after 30 days if it can’t be repaired.

After six months it starts to get complicated as after then, you have to prove and manufacturing faults were there on day 1! And also important to remember it’s six years to make a claim, not that the product has to last six years. It only has to last a “reasonable” amount of time, which of course is highly subjective and varies from product to product.

Overall it’s a good law to have but not half as good as some people think... unfortunately.

Thanks for the info, as I read it the partial refund is if you wish to keep the product with the fault, as opposed to canceling the sale and returning the product for a full refund.

I have no idea how well the law works, but it is definitely used by UK consumers. Apple doesn’t typically eat the costs of regulatory compliance, so my guess is it’s built into the sales price. I could very well be wrong.

If they do and there’s HDMI 2.1 Support , then that’s where my tax return will go. A 6 Core MBP, count me in. And DDR4 a Must.

After six months, the amount you’re legally entitled to can be reduced based on “fair usage”. Your only legally entitled to a full refund in the first 30 days, and six months after an unsuccessful repair or replacement.

It will be built into the price. But ultimately, despite having six years to make a claim, you’re still only entitled to one repair or one refund so the costs per consumer to manage this won’t be any different to any other warranty in any other country.

Lol not in North America. 14 day return policy and no refund policy even after multiple repairs. You’ll get a replacement if you’re lucky but that’s at the managers descrtion. No law saying they have to.
