I just read on twitter that the ipad pro 2 should be announced in an event on april 18th. That is soo far and when its announced wont it take a couple of months till release ?

I would of thought more like later this month at an (March) event.

Regardless im just going to pick up the 128gb space grey 12.9 soon.... sounds like the biggest update will be in the 10.5 model they plan on releasing. Im also getting the keyboard and the pencil for a steal at 180 for both.
[doublepost=1488826034][/doublepost]Plus when they update the ios wont the update also be avaliable for this ipad ?

I disagree. If it can't use all four cores at the same time, then it's not a true "quad-core" chip. It's just two dual cores that can't run simultaneously.

That's not to say that it's not an excellent chip because it is.

Funny thing is ... the ability for an end user to switch ON all four cores, just becaues they wish to ... and the cookie monster will want milk with it (larger battery, less bulk, and last all day long no matter what we throw at it all together). Therein lies the rub.

You CAN use all four cores at the same time - use an application that will demand such and I'm pretty sure you'll be using four cores. Fire up iBooks and load a PDF and pfft you shouldn't get four cores. It's a great trade off between power, efficiency and longevity of performance and use based on battery life.

Why upgrading if ypu u have the ipad pro 1???

Better camera?
Useless

3d touch?
Not worth it

New chip?
Ipad pro 1 still not compatible with facebook screen size!!

If the battery will jump from 10h to 12h and oled screen i might consider it... otherwise no!

It's all down to each person's use case. I personally would welcome an improved camera on the iPad Pro as I do with the other iPads. I use the iPad a lot in the house and if the kids do something entertaining then I will snap it with the iPad. An improved camera would be welcome for this alone. Same applies to the Facetime camera on the front as an improvement there would be welcome. I also use my iPad to snap pics of items I'm selling on eBay or Gumtree so I can do the selling from a single device. Again, an improved camera means better quality images for the buyer to view.

Holding an iPad up in public may not be the best scenario for photography but there are plenty of scenarios where a good iPad camera does make a lot of sense.

We simply don't know what Apple will be doing with the iPad Pro, there are rumours and there is a report that they will be introducing a new 10.5" iPad Pro with a bezel less design, depending on how this stacks up next to my bigger 12.9" iPad Pro i might get one. Also we don't know 100% what's in store for the other iPads (9.7" and the 12.9") but i would love true tone on the 12.9" along with the wider colour gamut and 256GB of storage (which wasn't available when i brought the 1st gen 12.9" iPad Pro).

It sure makes you feel like a dork holding the iPad up to shoot. But I have to say this thing does an amazing job in the majority of shooting situations. Had to use it on my cruise to Alaska since hadn't bought my new camera and the photos were stunning. Can't imagine what pics can look like if they improved the camera. Either way I'm buying one since this thing comes in so handy for so many tasks and is a nice compliment to my MacBook Pro.

i'm looking forward to the announcement being made, hopefully soon. I'm on an iPad4 (fall 2012 model), and memory is maxed and running very slow now. can't do anything with it while apps are updating. kind of pathetic really. the 10.5" screen size is interesting to me. I'm used to the little bit larger form factor, so whenever I held an Air or newer it the screen felt smaller to me even though it was the same exact size. 10.5" might be perfect for someone like me.

I really have to agree that there seems no good reason to upgrade from the original 12.9 to a new one, regardless of what is included. The biggest thing the 12.9 is lacking is in the software, and the old one will be able to upgrade to iOS 11. Let's hope there are some good improvements for the iPad in iOS11.

I can't see me upgrading my 12.9" ... So far it's still the best Apple product I've ever bought. I use it for 99% of all work and personal tasks and it handles them pretty much flawlessly. The only issue I have right now is some websites don't work that well with iOS Safari ... I don't blame Apple for this as the website is just poorly developed, but I do have some work applications that just don't handle Safari very well in IOS.

No need for me to upgrade something that's insanely snappy with zero lag and handles everything great.

It's difficult for me to decide at this point in time until I know exactly what the 2nd gen will provide. Based on the rumors, I agree, there's nothing there that is enticing me to upgrade my 12.9 Pro. But if Apple were to do something like introduce "smart connector 2.0" that included support for additional peripherals such as a smartcover with a trackpad, that would cause me to consider... it wouldn't be an automatic "buy" but I'd have to think about it.
