Yeah, because most folks who shop at Walmart can definitely afford to buy Apple products. No offense to anyone, but if you shopped at my local Walmart, you would see the irony in my post.

yes all those poor toothless walmart customers cant even afford all of those glossy hdtv's that are flying off the shelves. where the heck do you live? in south dakota everyone buys EVERYTHING from walmart. and they have enough money because we have an amazing employment rate.

Walmart is not exactly the type of retailer Apple would want their products to be associated with.

Exactly right! There is NO WAY you will ever see Apple products like iPods, iPhones, and iPads in ANY Walmart. Oh wait...

The snottiness here is amazing. It's like people here buy Apple products because they are "elite" and not because they just work better than similar products. Looks like low self-esteem.

Order it from Apple on line. you'll have it inside of a week. Don't believe the lead times. mine shipped directly from China.

WHAT?!? I thought all apple products were individually hand-crafted in Cupertino...:D

I tend to avoid places like wallmart when I go to America.

They say the most enlightening thing to do while traveling is indulge in the local culture. They must've said that before contemporary American culture.

I've never stepped into a Walmart in the US. To be honest, I don't even know where the nearest Walmart is. On the other hand, I've been to two in Mexico (one in Acapulco and one in Mexico City), and holy **** are those places filled with cheap crap. NOT INTERESTED.

While this may be true that Walmart is going to be carrying the iPad... Whoever is doing their inventory planning should really plan for more than 10 cases per 30 iPads.

Walmart marked the death of Blu-Ray when they stopped selling Blue-Ray movies (except for a few). I'm glad about that because Blu-Ray was really getting on my nerves  with its low-quality HD H.264 video and overpriced discs and players. Seriosly, my DVD player w/ upscaler gives out better quality than Blu-Ray.

You're kidding, right?

Wha??You haven't been there lately. My Walmart has a huge Bluray selection and lots of players.Disagree on the quality too.

Not to mention the $9 and $10 blu ray selection. Also, BB has similarally priced blu rays.

I don't like paying 20% to 40% more for the same stuff on the shelves at stop and shop and shaws. But to each there own.

I hate going to Walmart cause it's a zoo, but I still bought my TV there cause it was $114 cheaper than anywhere else!

Anyhow I don't see much difference between Walmart and Target. Some places the Target store is more ghetto then the walmart!

As for the price of the iPad in a Walmart it would be around $495. The iPod Touch sells for $225 instead of $229.

20 Negatives because another store is selling the iPad?

How snooty can people get?
LOL, I wonder the same thing. I think this is a good strategic move by Apple. If this will boost iPad sales, people should be happy since it'll bump Apple's stock value and thus give all of us even better products. :p
