Ok, weird issue. I have two W-T contacts from when we were all beta testing. I have a third friend that just updated his watch and iPhone and has the W-T app but when I add him it says "xxx is not available for Walkie-Talkie. You can only chat with people who also have Apple Watch". We went over and made sure he had the FaceTime app on the phone. He showed me that his watch has a pending invite TO me (which I never get or don't know how to accept). Any thoughts?

I have walkie-talkie on my series one. Just make sure that FaceTime audio is working on your phone first.
The yellow icon just means the walkie-talkie feature is active.

Not true!

Apologies, I was given duff information.

How do I turn on the walkie talkie feature? Do I turn on tap to talk?

We verified this. He even face-timed me multiple times. Also he changed his face time apple id to match his iCloud apple id. no difference. Still shows Invite sent, never shows on his end and also complains on my end when I add him that the user needs have have an apple watch.

Same issue. Wife is showing up with same message. A hard reset of her watch didn't help. I will try a repairing later tonight and see if that works. Please let us know if you get yours working.

After unpairing and the re-pairing my watch to my phone the Walkie-Talkie app finally downloaded on to my Apple Watch.

Before I did the above I noticed my battery was dropping faster than normal so it was almost like the watch was constantly trying to install the app.

Walkie-Talkie is now working and my Apple Watch battery usage is back to normal.

Hi folks. Just a quick querey. I've updated my iPhone 7 to iOS12 and my series 2 apple watch to iOS5 and wanted to know if there was a way that it knows who has an apple watch and the wakie talkie app (i.e the latest software) for adding them? Seems a bit un-apple like to have to scroll through all your contacts to find those you think/know they have a watch then get told they do not have an apple watch. My sister for example, has an apple watch but when I click to invite I get the error message. Would be nice if it would say, "here are a list of people from your contacts who also have walkie-talkie, invite them to say hi". total first world problem but just annoying from a user perspective.

Good to hear.

Lost my “better half” about 4 years ago. :(

Cherish what you have!

Sorry for your loss. I lost my wife 5 years ago as well. Were married for 27 years.

I have recently remarried. She was one of those “green box” gals for chats, which I’ve discovered is now THE way dating communications happen. Anyways, got tired of that and so while we were dating I bought her an iPhone when her Galaxy Note broke. And then an iPad as a wedding gift. And then a MacBook when I got tired of cleaning up her Windows spamware/adware issues weekly.

You can’t replace a lost love, but you can begin again with a new one. And then convert her to the faithful.

Sorry for your loss, too.

I am just now able to think about someone else. She made me promise I would. Guess I buried myself in the company trying to forget but there is more to life.

Thanks for your kind words, Sir.

Question:

Have noticed that when I'm available on Walkie Talkie, the little yellow widget appears on the top of my watch face. Is that there because I'm set to "available"? I'm OCD about having notifications cleared and this bothers me lol

Normal....it’s a planned notification to tell you that you have Walkie Talkie set to “Available.”

Anyone else notice that Walkie talkie uses a lot of battery?

yes.

yes.

Yeah I am not using it. It destroys my battery

Anyone seeing this bug? I try to invite a contact, and then it shows both that contact and me myself also as invited - there are two invites showing.

Yeah. Same here. Added my wife and it all works but on my watch it also shows myself as being invited and on my wife's watch I'm appearing twice. Plus, eats battery

My wife has a series 1 watch and I updated it to os5 last night. No sign of warlike-talkie app on her watch or on watch app on iPhone. Is it not compatible with series1 or did it just not install the update right?
I also noticed on series 3 I have the yellow walkie talkie icon up on the notification area that flashes ever few seconds. Anyone else?
My son has the series 1, he has walkie talkie.

I can’t actually accept the invites or get it to actually work ...

Similar bug for me. My watch series 2 sends invitations to whoever and them appears as “invited” but nothing more happens. I Cannot talk, I cannot do anything. My wife’s series 1 does the same.

Nope. Not for me at least.

Restarted both phone and watch, so did my wife. Invites don't go through.

Do you have FaceTime setup properly and logged in to your own Apple ID under FaceTime settings and set where you can be reached at? Apple ID cannot he shared for this to workI have this working since the beta. I switched to my new series 4 and so did my wife and no issues. Theres definitely some kind of setting that is wrong.
