Yup, cases like the life proof or otter box won't allow the fingerprint sensor to work. Also, wearing gloves, say in the winter will prevent u from unlocking the phone. That'll b annoying!

True I've actually never tried using a touchscreen phone with gloves, how well does typing work out at all? Not that Apple knows anything about that since they never see snow :p

1. Its an "S" phone...its not suppose to be different
2. You have an iPhone 5 why would you care for the 5S
3. Why would you want an oversized phone instead of a decently sized (Galaxy S4, Nexus 4 etc.)

See, look at you complaining to me why I would like a bigger screen when your mac is a freaking 13" incher. I was at the Apple store 4 days ago looking at one and man not even the 15" I would spend my money on.

I'm on a 17" still for my macbook pro and I just bought the 27" Cinema Display. I work with graphic and editing photos all day long.

When I'm on the go, it would make things so much easier for me to see than bringing my iPhone 5 all the way close to my face to see something, or having to move around the screen so much to read a web page.

But why do they constantly have to come up with "surprises?" What's wrong with just making a better iPhone? Don't come on rumor sites and then complain about a lack of surprise. The logic is just bass ackwards. If rumor sites didnt dig through the supply chain for any piece of info they could get, then the gold color option and the new capacitive fingerprint tech (not the old swipe technology) would both have been pretty surprising. Especially the champagne color, that rumor came out a while ago and most dismissed it entirely until recent leaks.

Hey man I'm on your side....

I believe the finger sensor and the flash will be the only differentiating feature between the so called S and the 5. In the past many where disappointed about the 4s missing out on the larger screen and being exactly identical to the 4. Fast forward to today and there is a strong emphasis only on the finger sensor, but apart from that it using a iphone 5 shell.

I am personally waiting as the finger sensor will still be in its infancy and therefore not fully functionally with apps. In addition to this the 6 will get the larger screen estate (which is more important than a finger sensor). However it nice to know that 128GB is being added and there is a better camera and refined flash.

Can't. Freaking. Wait.

Dual LED Flash.
Fingerprint Sensor.
Faster Processor.
Improved Battery Life.
New Colors.
iOS 7.
Improved Camera.

Let's Go!

Sounds like a pretty nice update when you put it like that.Hmmm...have to check my bank balance...

This is awesome news if true. I think people are sleeping on what an accurate fingerprint sensor means in a mobile device.

Yeah the android app store has finger print apps for years now and they actually work. Only down said is going to be when the sensor doesn't detect your finger(s). hahh. Instant wipe.

Im more interested in the blending aspect of the 5s and 5c.

Dont understand why all the drama for the fingerprint sensor, its a nice option and nothing more :)

And that's my concern also. Fingerprints as well as passwords ultimately end up as just a string of Os and 1s, and thus hackable. Unless some extremely nifty hack-proof technology is deployed, a brute force attack could unravel that false sense of security pretty rapidly.

Moreover, when this becomes more commonplace, it'll be the same fingerprint used for all secure sites one is going to access, whereas you could have different passwords for different sites. Iow, when your fingerprint authentication has been compromised, your entire digital life is vulnerable, rather than just the one unique password for a single site. Sobering thoughts.

While I understand where you are coming from, I disagree.
Many sites get hacked everyday and steal people passwords. This is the reason why many sites now let you login w/ your facebook since it's way more secure. This next frame of security would be similar in terms of having an extra layer that they can't hack directly from the site you are login from. Lets be real, who do you think has better protection against hackers for these things, apple or macrumors for example :)

For me when it comes to my Mac i dont care what screen size I use. But when it comes to smartphones, I would like a phone that I can use with one hand and have it in my pocket with me hardly noticing its there. Samsung needs to know how big is too big.

I suspect that there will always be the backup to using a password as a second layer of security in the event that the fingerprint sensor fails.

What happens if I already used the Matrix ball to burn off my prints for fear of the coming machine revolution?

you could still slide to unlock and/or put your own password, but wait don't you need to remove the gloves to actually slide to unlock now no? I live in the tropics so I don't wear gloves.

How is Facebook any more, or less, secure than another website? Isn't the idea of logging in to a site via Facebook a matter of convenience than it is of security?

we know it's also going to be more powerful and better camera and to me those are more important than a shell.

Because Apple hadn't implemented it yet until now. Then we'll see what the hoopla is all about.

I just do not understand the paranoia over this fingerprint sensor. NSA? Really?

If you are comfortable with the current security, then stick with it. If you are that worried that the government will get your fingerprint, then there are other aspects of your life that you should reconsider.

It's still an update. Bigger screen? Coming next year. NFC? Probably next year too? Infrared? Idk...

The iPhone is already great. The features I listed are excellent improvements over an already good iPhone.

I hope Apple isn't using your reasoning. iPhone could do a lot more without "putting off features for next year" with the mindset that "it's already good enough." I don't know about you, but I want Apple to be the company that's leading the market, not sitting on their hands thinking what they have is already great...

If it's the same bleeding 4 inch screen, I hope someone in the crowd yells out "BOOOO". I would if I were there. Guess I'll know if I'm coming out of pocket for a $700 Note 3 in a few hours.

Just found out today that the Note 3 can shoot 4k video, too. More and more I'm being pushed to getting my first Android phone.

No, no you wouldn't.

The note 3 does look pretty awesome though.
